Hey Jewel Fans, I'm a newbie, so you probally don't know me yet. I'm getting hooked up with some Jewel tapes and I don't want to seem to pushy, but I was wondering if anybody had any extra Jewel posters or shirts or anything like that. I'd love some. Also, I've been letting people at my school borrow my Peices of You album, and 2 loved it so much they bought it themselves and finally gave me back my CD. I've put some fellow classmates in the Jewel Zone. Maybe they'll become obsessed Jewel fans (with bad grammer) just like me. Jewel really is amazing. I think I'll make copies of Jewel CD to spread Jewel's beautiful voice instead of letting people borrow it from now on. Date: Tue, 12 Nov 1996 22:47:54 -0600 (CST) Subject: story: Thesmus meets the prez There lives a man named Thesmus P. Scruggs. He is a quiet, nondescript type of man. His life of 47 years has been filled with monotony. Pleasant monontony, for a quiet, nondescript man like Thesmus, but monotony nonetheless. Thesmus works as a financial planning and marketing consultant (bank teller) in Topeka, Kansas. One day, thesmus read the president was going to have a campaign stop in Topeka. He felt he needed a small break from the monotony, and resigned himself to the task of meeting the president. Thesmus got off work on that fated day, and headed quickly toward the park. A crowd was gathered there already, so he had to crane his neck to see. There, lo and behold, was the president, facing away and talking to an older woman. This is my chance, Thesmus told himself, and headed in that direction. What luck, he thought, there aren't even many people gathered about him. As he neared the president, Thesmus heard a long scream. He looked past his executiveness and spied the culprit. It was a schoolchild, approaching the president at an unsafe velocity, screaming bloody murder. Thinking on his feet, Thesmus realized that this must be one of those crazed Russian kamikaze children he'd read about in a novel. (they run up to someone, cling tenaciously, and then explode. A most lethal form of assassination.) Thesmus ran as fast as his nondescript legs could carry him, and intercepted the path of the kamikaze youth. Thesmus whirled, and chucked his briefcase with deadly aim. The attache clipped the youngster on the head, knocking him out cold. Thesmus did not have time to receive the proper joy of serving his country, because he was soon victim of a viscious carpet bag to the face. Thesmus awoke the next morning in a bleak room, nursing quite a goose egg on his forehead. He realized, after he read it on his pillow, that he was in the county jail. An officer entered, and gave him the low-down. The man Thesmus was defending was not the Preisident of the United States, but was, in fact, James Huston, part-owner of the bank where Thesmus worked. The youth was not a walking bomb, but was the son of Mr. Huston, screaming for his father after his older brother had put an ice cube in his shorts. The family was out for a nice afternoon in the park, spoiled by the viscious attack, and the ensuing need to fire Thesmus. Thesmus had then been reprimanded physically by Mr. Huston's carpet-bag weilding mother, Ethel. As it turns out, Thesmus wasn't in the park on the correct day to meet the president. In fact, he had the wrong year. He had read the notice in a paper dating three years to the past. It wasn't even an election year. Thesmus made this note to himself: buy asprin clean up newspapers go job-hunting stop reading spy novels Unfortunately, Thesmus lost the note when attemting--unsuccessfully--to remove the old newspapers from his apartment. So goes the life of Thesmus P. Scruggs. ------------------------------ From: wrdavis@ite.net (Katherine Davis) Date: Wed, 13 Nov 1996 15:09:11 -0800 Subject: Jewel interview at MTV Go to this site angels: www.mtv.com/chooseorlose/jewelint.html and you can read the old interview w/ mtv and jewel on politics...hope this helped someone! no pictures there sadly.. (don't even bother to reply to that.) :) since i am digressing, i will end. i will do my best to catch up on things. who was that that offered synopsies of past events? pete? whoever, e-mail me, i need one.
