Newbie thread over once and for all ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Raphael the archangel <75271.2740@CompuServe.COM> Date: 07 Nov 96 18:21:12 EST Subject: Jewelstock two should be in.... Hello Angels: Ok , eventhough I think Jewel should be the one to the decide if she wants to have a second Jewelstock and where it should be , I will put forth my personal opinion. California , well greeat!! But I think Jewel has visited and played California quite a bit already. Now I suggest that it be , well I don't know,... a place where she hasn't visited before , a place with really nice weather and beaches , a place where the beer flows and the women shine (though not for me)... I'm just thinking this out of the top of my head , but it could take place for example ...mmmm... Puerto Rico! Now some of you will automatically discard the idea. But let me inform you a plane ride from N.Y to Puerto Rico can be very inexpensive. If you're worried about the stay for you don't have a budget for like a million cheap motels here , you can stay at my house. Hell , I can cook ... I got 3 extra rooms, and I'll take you on a personal tour of this small continent. If it can't be in Puerto Rico , I also think another good place is Guam. Guam and Puerto Rico the 2 U.S commonwealths. BTW: Katherine , good luck , I'll be praying for you , we wish you well during the hardship you and your country will endure. Think of it , you'll come down here , see Jewel , go to beaches , have a vacation , meet Rafa and if you're lucky you'll get coffee poured down your pants by yours trully. it's just an opinion... until then your auto cheap archangel: Rafa p.s: what are " tonoplasts"? I'm in Biology and I don't know what the hell the teacher is reffering to by tonoplasts? -el toro corrio detras de mi , yo me escabulli y me comi un lechon- ( the bull ran behind me , I was able to hide and then I ate a pig) ------------------------------ From: ABershaw@aol.com Date: Thu, 7 Nov 1996 18:51:00 -0500 Subject: This CT show is definately happening Hi all again, This has no effect on the "rumoured" December 2nd CT show. I just found out that on December 7th Jewel will be performing an "in store" appearance here in CT to benefit "The Joy Of Sharing" charity. It's already advertised on the radio & in the local paper. This show is being put on in conjunction with WKSS FM radio in Hartford,CT. So likely this will happen somewhere in Hartford. The actual location is still to be announced, but I'll keep the list informed if I hear more before Hiranya gets back. The stations offices are closed for the day, but I'll give them a ring tommorrow. This one is DEFINATELY hapnin though. Take Montgomery's "I Swear" and "I Can > Love You Like That." Are these country songs? Just thought I would take a second to supplement the email I posted yesterday about country music. I said must of the songs are writen by song writing companies not the singers themselves. Mark brought up a perfect example. Correct me if I'm wrong but the song "I sware" was written by the same songwriting company that both Montgomery and I think it was Boyz to Men use. Thats how both groups ended up using it. They even released it at almost the same time. I was so surprised when I realized I had so many messages waiting for me in my mailbox. It couldn't have happened at a better time. I have had a smile on my face ever since! Patric enjoys communicating with you all so much and now I have a better understanding why. I even learned something new from your messages. So many times when I send a message to someone I want to put a smiley face somewhere, and now I know how. :) I love that! I owe each and every one of you a favor. I vote for having it in Traverse City, Mi. The Largest town in the northern half on lower Michigan (Just above your left hand pinkey finger :) ), where Interlochen (from the FAQ: "Her junior and senior years of high school were spent at Interlochen Fine Arts Academy in Michigan. This is an expensive private school, and 70% of Jewel's tuition was paid for by a vocal scholarship. She thought she'd be going to sing the blues, but they had her sing opera instead. The remainder of the expenses were raised at what turned out to be Jewel's first solo concert. The citizens of Homer were supportive enough to cover the rest of the first year tuition, and summer jobs filled the gap the next year.") Is just minuts away. The beautyful Grand Traverse Bay awaits your swim, the breathtaking senic beauty awaits your gaze....... However, This all depends on Jewels recording schedule....... drat.. Okay let's settle this once and for all. Anyone who has been on the list for over six months or considers themselves a veteran or at the very least a journeyman, then email me with just the message "for newbies", "no newbies", or "abstain". I'll post the results next Monday, Veterans' Day. Who knows, if the voting goes well we might have a Newbies' Day by summer. I'm pretty sure the voting will indicate that the list accepts newbies wholeheartedly. Remember, if you don't vote you can't complain. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V1 #746 ***************************
