Jewel Content/Jewelstock Content/List Content: Alright here is the skinny (not Pete) on the situation: I'm making up a tape for my girlfriend and one song sticks out as the one to be the first song on the tape, 1,000 Miles. Now I know I could use the version from the promo cd, but I decided to use the one from the second night of JS, the one that, I hate to admit this (joking), Dennis requested (How old is that guy anyways? or his an ageless myth? or just good skin cream?). I sent her the lyrics to it and she loved them, it summed up our feelings so much. I won't go into details but it has become our song. The version from JS is just amazing, filled with so much emotion that it would of made the whole trip up through Jersey worth it just to hear that one song (though hugging Selena is also a great memory). ahhh I feel the memories coming back to me...team smelly...Crunch, Shelly, and PB&J...Rachelle playing with my hair (still remember how that felt...)...snoring Tom Twins...Blue hatted Garret and blue haired Toni...speachless Liz (on two occasions)...Igor plotting to put a certain BMW bike up a tree (well so he wasn't there in person, he's still the one EDA I have yet to meet that I want to meet the most)...sitting and chatting with so many of the other EDAs there; a young lady from Canada (how you doing lady?), Katherine (how's the band doing, do I see another list forming?), the two ladies who gave me a ride to the friday night show (thanks so much again, and they even let me sit up front!), ice cream and chinese food on the porch (and using one spoon to feed a dozen, kinda biblical), Crashboy and his miricle water (mmmm thanks bud), Rocker kickin' back at the bar (hey where did you go?), Arm and me stepping between rain drops (how's the ear doin? gotta love Superman), sippin juice with west coast Tom and CJ Dockmaster (where did you disappear to lady?), yelling out "Hey look there's Dan Stark" for no reason when ever I saw him (and never in a KMart bathroom naked despite popular rumors), the guys accoustic jam at the water fountain (rock on, free bird!), Akira just being the gracious host (isn't he cute), two guys in a tiny pup tent, waking up to strange noises in the night (Hey look its Dan Stark! and Crunch), my brother-in EDA and fellow team smelly member Rich (man can that little guy get some air, even more that Sinjin!), plotting with Sinjin about jokes to pull (though we never did pull them off), I could go on and on and on but my mycology (study of mushrooms, yes it is an actual class I am taking) notes call me (can't you hear them...if you study it will come...if you study it will come) okay so sleep deprevent physcosis has kicked in (but it is soo much fun!) About the adopt a newbie program I have a suggestion. In the corps of cadets here at VA Tech there is a tradition, similar to ones in the military, of dykes (not the slang for lesbians). A dyke is your adopted brother/sister, an older cadet who is your friend, looks out for you and helps you out. Now to be a dyke you must be in your third year in the cadets. Most often a dyke has two adopted brother/sisters (called dyke-brothers, catching on, dyke is kinda used like smurf from the world's greatest and most thought provoking cartoon the Smurfs! ahh my pyhscosis...). So maybe after the initial set up we could use this as how it works, say after a period of time or on a certain date dykes are matched. In the cadets you get to choose who you will be dyked to (the older cadets choose the younger ones, usually they have similar interests, majors, hometowns, or something like that). I don't know, what do you all think? now back to the studies and more COFFEE!! Robb - who wishes he could remember the shy canadian woman's name who he talked to for a long time at the bar in JS, ahh too many mushrooms on my brain (well that is what my next test is on) ps - to all the Guardians of Fuzzy (Toni, Rachelle, Katherine, Liz and others) he is doing great, he has taken up climbing recently and I've found him scaling everything in my room from the curtains to my closet doors. He sends hugs to you all. pps - was the reason for JS a concert or a family reunion? ppps - idea! - how about every year we try to have a JS, either a concert (maybe Chuck Marten [Toni's band] could play it) or a family reunion, planning for next year should start soon I think..."study me"..."study me"...ahh the books are calling me again......they are coming to take me away.................. I haven't seent the movie, but I have seen several commercials for it. I think that the description that Capello provides is clear evidence why Jewel's song was passed up. I see an analogy between a couple of other movies here: "Alien" and "Independence Day" It seems that this version of "Romeo and Juliet" is the Independence Day version of the story. Extremely commercialized in order to sell tickets. Jewel's song has genuine emotion in it. The movie sounds contrived. After watching the previews and thinking about the song I didn't think the two seemed to go together. Karl "Did that make any sense?" However, it's only ONE person each...come on folks! These are EDA's we're talking about! =) Consider the alternatives: $10-15 (Postage $3-5) => $5-13 for present. Now I know there are many gifts in that price range, but what if the perfect gift is $15? Now if you go and get it, it doesn't REALLY matter, but you've gone over the limit and now you've gone over the limit! This really limits it to any small $10 gift. $10-20 (Postage $3-5) => $5-17 for present. This limits it to 'bout $15 for a gift. I think this is an actual possible alternative, but it does allow for a BIG difference in gifts therefore leading to possible disappointment. $15-20 (Postage $3-5) => $10-17 for present. This is also a viable alternative and would keep the gifts in a good range, but those REALLY strapped for cash are flat out. (Which really I don't see as a big problem becuz if you can't spend the money anyway, don't participate!) There is also the point that some cheaper gifts would be worth more to some people than the more expensive gifts.. *shrug* It's all perspective dagnabit! But in any case.. we could even do $20-25.. or 'course the deemed $25-30, all of which I am willing to do, but I'm sure no matter how low we put it there will be kicking and screaming by someone or other. (Ok, fine.. so most EDA's don't kick and scream.. just grumble and groan ;P eheh) Basically what we're looking at is whether we just want to exchange petty gifts and allow everyone to join in, or to raise it a bit, and exclude those who can't afford it. I'm all for the latter, but I'm a bit biased since I can afford it. (Ok..well I can PRETEND to afford it dagnabit! Plastic rules, eheH) Have I rambled enough? Body peircing is a very personal thing. Some people do it for the wrong reasons, I don't. The other nine holes are just in my ears, tounge, and one on my nose. So my face is not cluttered. No more than it was at jewelstock. I happen to look great with a lip ring, but I guess that's an opinion. It gives me a great amount of self confidence though. When I made the decision to do this,I warned greg but I guess he took it as a joke.I don't know, he's not speaking to me. If he wants to destroy a friendship over a little hoop, that's up to him. When someone pierces something, it should be at a very important and memorable time in there life. That was the background for piercing and it should still be that way. On this trip I realized a lot of things about who I was and what I wanted out of my life. This ring is a permanent reminder of what I went through there. It's difficult to explain to someone who only uses a piercing to look cool or to be a trendy. The pain was simbolic to the pain that I went through while i was there due to a little girl that I wanted to kill.(And the little boy) Even though the pain wasn't very severe like I thought it would be, it brought me into this state of intense meditation and awakening. That's the way a piercing should be.
