I saw her the first night and as I recall she used her book to sing them 
from and still had trouble playing them all the way through.  I enjoy 
that type of atmosphere.  It's like sitting at home in your living room 
listening to a friend. I think she was getting a feel for what people 
might think of the songs, kind of testing the waters.

I should probably not post this to the list, but it's the weekend, it's
always slow on the weekend (listen to me rationalize)  
I LOVE ABBA!! I am a PROUD ABBA LISTENER and proud to say never for a moment
picked up on their fashion "sense":) 
I personally would just love to hear Jewel do a rendition of "Fernando", so
all those who may be seeing her soon in concert, if vacation hadn't started
yet, then someone request it, then take a picture of her reaction :)

As for real content, that IS list worthy:  Thank you all for being...
hmmm... Angels... People hear me talk about "this mailing list I'm on", they
think "oh, fan club" they look at me rather oddly when I say "well, she
calls us Everyday Angels...EDA's"  Not many people can truely understand how
much we mean to eachother with the simple post on other peoples' problems,
that help us with our own lives, and somehow, that Jewel always has an
applicable song...some people just have a gift... and I wanted to just share
the love. I guess... and say thanks for all being so supportive, when it
seems the world is an awful place...We all have Angels on our side...
O.K. I'm getting philosophical, I'm gonna spare you all my further babble.

Subject: thanks for the HELP

Hey all I just want to thank you for trying to help me and my friends out.  I am still really depressed however.  My one friend who was raped is doing great.  I am so glad, we've become closer friends because of this.  It's nice to know one positive thing came from this.
With regards to my other friend however I don't know if I can continue this relationship.  She just hurts me so much everytime I try to talk to her.  I feel like running and crying.  But I know that isn't right and I stand there and take all the stuff she sends at me.  I just wish there was a way I could get past all this hurt and go on in my life.  One person  says I'm there friend and they'll always be here for me then they turn around and treat me like I'm nothing but a piece of waded up paper dropped, and kicked around in the halls.  I feel like I'm nothing more than " A faceless body lost in this vast and worthless sea" which we call life.  Why must I feel this way.  Only one person around me knows how I feel and he has been trying to help me through this.  If it wasn't for him I wonder what I'd be doing now.
Hopefully this will pass soon and I continue to live my life happily.

So I gave the student radio station POY and called them as often as I
could with requests without being a nuisence.  Guess what.  Friday they
played Morning Song and I didn't request it. So, either the dj played it
on his own or someone else requested it.  Either way it worked.  More

At JS before she reads here poetry Jewel chants Patti Smith Patti Smith
Patti Smith.  I asked who it that and someone kindly supplied me with an
excellent synopsys of her career and influence.( Thanks, whoever you are.)
Anyway, I finally got Horses, my first Patti Smith CD.  Relsease in 1975
it could be called revolutionary and I can see why she is considered the
prototype of female alternative rockers.  She's a little more raucous the
Jewel, but I recommend her those of you who are as under-exposed as I am
to contemporary music. Before Jewel, all I listened to was oldies and top
forty.  Now, I'm hep to that jive.

	With Jewel overseas, I've had to look elsewhere for good shows to
go to. Duncan Shiek, who I though was excellent opening up for Jewel at
the Tradewinds, will be opening for the Primitive Radio Gods (suck) on
November 10 at the Lost Horizon in Syracuse. Shiek is a pretty damn cool
singer, as RS agreed, and should be cool to watch. Then, of course,
there's always Springsteen. He's playing in Syracuse on November 13th and
in Buffalo that same week. Both shows are sold. He's adding shows in
Jersey so my fellow Jerseyans should stay alert.
	Still eagerly awaiting my JS tapes, I know Silver Kat is doing
everything possible to make sure these tapes are of the highest quality
and in perfect condition when I receive them. To say Silver Kat is the
greatest person on the planet would be an understatement. Kat is an angel,
nay, a god walking among men. A mighty giant that bestrides this tiny
sphere we call Earth mingling with us common folk. Truly, if there is
anyone who has touched the most lives or is worth of being named a saint,
it is Silver Kat. God Bless Kat, Long live Kat, yay Kat.

It started as a jest from Tom Proven and Robb Leigh; but after I got a
half-dozen enthusiastic Emails from our EDA contingent, I decided what the
heck -- go for it.  I needed to learn how to run a list server anyway, so I
installed Macjordomo (yep, that's spelled right) and tested it out.  The
net result is that the Wiccan Vampire bassist indie-rocker now has her own
mailing list and there are 8 subscribed members besides us.

If you want to receive once or twice-weekly mailings from us on whassup in
the life of Toni Dunn, you too can subscribe.  It'll be mostly limited to
band concert dates, CD publishing info, news about the independent 'zine
she's working on, etc. etc.  Right now, it's a free-posting list, but if
the discussion level rises above a "polite" threshold I would be glad to
convert it to a receive-only format to reduce mailbox load (there won't be
enough to merit a digest yet, I'm pretty sure :-)

People ask me a lot if I'm related to some person with the last name kim 
that they know, and I have no idea.  I'm sure, somewhere back in time, we 
all come from the same family (adam and eve?).  THere are so many 
freakin' kims in the worlds it's scary.  Both of my parents' last names 
are Kim.

I am me.  And I don't band together with those not of my ilk (no offense, 
eddy).  So the Harris family is safe for now.

Woah, there, temper that anger.  THe way you phrased that (especially the 
How dare they judge her) makes it sound like Jewel is some untouchable 
goddess that should only be spoken of in reverential tones.  
And remember that even gods are criticized and spoken ill of ;)

The review is from a critic who probably has to review so many videos 
and music samples that he/she can't possibly get to know all the artists 
beyond a commercial level.  How long did it take you to realize that you 
really thought that Jewel was someone with more than just a pretty face 
and a catchy song.  How long did it take before you realized that her 
album was a solid work of art.  How long before you realized that Jewel 
is a pretty cool person and a very wise human being?  I know that it took 
me a good long time to listen to and appreciate the album and even longer 
to appreciate the human.  The reviewer probably didn't have the chance 
that we do to take the time to see what jewel is all about.  make sense?

And critics are there to share their opinions.  This viewpoint is just 
another side of the coin, like our adoration of Jewel is just another 
opinion.  I'm sure that someone would be just as pissed as you are if you 
panned some group that they liked but you don't.

This being said, i still haven't seen the video, so I can't say whether 
the reviewer is totally off base about the sexuality conveyed by jewel.


I finally met Jeff Wasilko last night.  We met up with a bunch of 
ectophiles to see Happy Rhodes in Troy, NY.  Great show!  If yer into 
Kate Bush/Tori/Mazzy Star but not so druggy, then you might like Happy.
Anyways, Jeff is a cool guy, not at all like I figured.  Very fun and 
pretty funny.  I think that he is very benevolent to let the list go on 
using his machines when he doesn't even read the list anymore.  So we all 
should definitely pitch in to show our appreciation to Jeff.  come on!
We are basically using jeff's property because he's a nice guy.
