I, Friends and Neighbors, have just recieved my JewelStock Tapes. And I, for the first time on this list, feel that I am in contact with something very special. Shared by very few, touching many through blank audio tapes bought at Wal-Mart at three a.m. This is my personal and heartfelt thanks to Jewel herself, Lenedra, Mike Connell, Dan Stark, Richard Chang, The Harris Bros., etc. etc. et al. The problems that this list is facing and has faced pales in comparison to the signifigance of these tapes. I will listen to them untiltheythey are wore bare and thin, and I will think of all of you in every song. Ok.. get this. Jewel played "Buttercup" at JewelStock, saying it was the first time she played it in public. I had it on a tape (Java Joe's, 6/9/96), so I chuckled to myself cuz at the time I was one of the only ones who had heard the song so far. Then I recently got another Java Joe's tape from JANUARY 11, 1996. It also has Buttercup on it! *gasp* It also has Fade Away, Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, and on it too.. :) Was Java Joe's a haven for her songs, or what? :> Also.. there are a few more songs on this tape that I don't think I've heard before.. namely "You and I" and "Need An Excuse" (about hating easter and other holidays) (or at least that's what I deam them after listnin to them) and another song including such lines as "didn't like you at all"... "you were so evil"...etc and a cover (i believe) that goes "worry don't (save??) my heart".... and one with "one day the tide will come in"...?? and one starting off with "it was a cold night.." Any info/lyrics/ideas on these songs from anyone? Maybe I'll be able to figure them out when I can listen to it on a decent stereo system. :> (Hell, she introduced them all somewhat anyway.. just can't hear what she's saying on this stupid cheap tape player at work) Thanks, Gerrit - -- Princess Humpardinc - "Surrender!" I just wanted to send out a quick thanks to everyone that sent Heather an e-mail. She told me that my flowers meant a lot to her, but the 100 or so messages from the list meant so much more... You all really made her week, and you reaffirmed what Selena told me a long time ago- that the people on this list are truly special. I had been a little upset at someone on the list who implied in a private letter to me that all NJC was "crap" that he had to wade to to find important information that the news list didn't have on it. Instead of being pissed off, though, I think I feel sorry for him- he'll never have the positive experience on this list that those of us who read every message do. I'm very lucky to count all of you among my friends- we're lucky in that wherever we go, whatever happens, we really do have each other. Thanks again- you all are really wonderful. BTW- Heather is going to send everyone a thank you e-mail-- she said that you all took time for her, so she was going to write everyone. Ya know, up 'til now, she couldn't understand why I spend so much time on the list- she told me today that she'd never wonder why again. She finally realized today just how special all of us are--in general, and to each other. Thanks for being here-- Take Care- Patric ------------------------------ From: "James H. I don't recall a flowered lake, but I guess I could have missed it... But, for all you theatre buffs out there.... Tom Stopppard's "15 minute Hamlet" and "60 second Hamlet" are awsome, it's Hamlet, true to shakespeare but edited. In the 60 second, the entire character of Ophelia is her running out on stage and collapsing... very funny, for a "tragedy" :) o.k. that was useless info... other question: She talks about 2 boys in Ohio, is this from the news or just fiction? Being from Ohio and all...just curious. If anyone out there knows... Please let me know, thanks! :) Peace, Mia! ~~~~~ Vale et me ama, Amelia S. Just want you all to know that tomorrow is the 6th Annual Make A Difference Day in the U.S. and that there are a few things that everybody can do to make a difference. 1. Have any old winter coats? There are many poor people who sure could use them this winter and the Salvation Army is always taking donations. 2. Have any extra food? There are 'food cupboards' in every town and city where you can donate food to be given to the needy. 3. Do you know any elderly or disable people who could use some help? It has been my experience that the elderly and disabled will never turn down a helping hand when it comes to food shoping or chores around the house. The above are just a few suggestions of things everyone can do. Nothing feels better than knowing you have helped someone in need. If you have never experienced that feeling, then tomorrow can be a first. I just want to let you all know that I have received 3 poems so far for the page. There are also 5 that either are on the way or that I haven't recieved permission to post yet. I will begin page construction tonight and will probably work on it from about 11 tonight (EDT) til about 4 or 5 in the morning. If you have any submissions or just want to talk about it then send me mail during that time... I will have my email program running in the background. If necessary, we could move the conversation to the IRC #jewel channel. It will probably be a week or two before I have the page up. It will take me awhile to contruct and I want it to be perfect. About submissions... although I would prefer a name with the poem, I will take anonymous submissions. You have to tell me who you are but I won't put your name on the page if you don't want me to. Everyone else will receive proper credit for their poems underneath each poem. Poems will also be removed at any time upon the authors requests, as well as poems can be edited at any time. Although I again prefer you don't edit them because a poem should repressent your feelings at the time of writing them but I will not turn anyone down. Spelling and punctuation problems are different. Those should be edited unless intended. Any questions, comments, suggestions?
