By the way, Xenomorph...thanks for keeping up a great page. I know I speak for all EDA's when I say this. It almost makes me not want to even bother with any Jewel content on my page, as yours is so good. Thank you. Also, can anybody believe that I paid 32 DOLLARS for the promo of YYMFM (new version)! I agree. I definetely like the JS version better, it's a bit stronger vocally. (Lenedra comes thru stronger on the JS version too, which makes that version more appealing to me) Still, it was a TREAT to see more "new" material on television. I'm still all abuzz about FINALLY having "Chime Bells" (from Farm Aid) on video tape...and to add "The Face of Love" 48 hours later....well, it's just great! Back to "The Face of Love" - Lifetime vs Jewelstock versions...my mother called the SECOND it was over and she said it was wonderful. She, and I quote "totally adored it". She hasn't heard the JS version yet, but my point is that to a first-time listener of "The Face of Love", it may have been very appealing. Also, I had four EMAILs from non-EDA friends whom I've "turned on to Jewel" and had told about the special. Three of them liked it alot, the fourth was "so-so". The fourth is also off my Christmas list ;) Mike ------------------------------ From: xenomorph@sprynet.com Date: Tue, 22 Oct 1996 06:34:30 -0700 Subject: [none] Thank you for the support and acknowledgement Robert! I appreciate it. I must repsond to the notion of not "bothering with any Jewel content" however. I hope that my page doesn't do that to anyone. I'm trying to promote Jewel (and have some fun, meet some great people, at the same time) not throw a blanket and smother anyone elses efforts to do the same. I mention this on my site in my own little sub-section, but my original ideas long ago were to do a Tori Amos / plus Jewel site. Well, with so many great sites out there already, especially Mike Why's Dent in the Net Universe site (http://www.aye.net/~mikewhy/toriamos.html) there wasn't much room. Pieces of Jewel took over and exploded from there. I have added the new artist Fiona Apple and am currently designing one more promotional site to be revealed soon but that's it for now. The last thing I want to do in providing a good Jewel site is to feel like I'm censoring someone else. And who knows how long the site will even last in the future. Let's just do what we want and express our support of Jewel. Can we expect > this song to be on the new Woman to Woman CD? It's not that I didn't lie it better, but it was new to me in this version. I'd have to listen more. It is hard to beat an original impression from a live version, Ya know? Maybe with subsequent listens, my opinion will change. Either way. Their voices are amazing together. Something about family memebrs singing together. And Jewel and Nedra obviously care for each other enough, and are close enough for an added level of vocal intimacy. Ever hear the Rudolph Duet? On the drive there and the drive back I caught a radio station with the call letters WRRB. I think it was from the Poughkeepsie/Middletown NY area. They played a live version of WWSYS. I think maybe it was recorded from the concert she played at Marist College because I have never heard a live version of WWSYS on the radio before. I think maybe they would be a good candidate for play of the song YWMFM. I only heard a few songs so I didn't get a real feel for the type of music they play. The other songs they played were something new from REM and STP's "Lady Picture Show." Both semi-slow type songs. I don't have there number either. Does anyone in that area know of this station? Their phone number? I think it was 92.7 on the dial. 92 point something anyway. Also, It might be possible to get a live recording of the Marist show from them.
