It is so easy to hate and judge and flame people we have never met. People with no faces. People in cars. New York and New Jersey people in cars. We can be so mean and hateful to faceless people. We wouldn't dream of treating somebody in a grocery store that way. We say "excuse me" when we bump carts.. or we even hold doors for each other. We make eye contact and smile. But put us in a car... or in front of a computer screen.. And we turn into monsters. We stop treating people the way we would like to be treated. We no longer see faces. Until we have met. The concerts put faces to names. Those of us who know each other have courtesy towards each other. We have allowed ourselves more room for error. More room for silliness and off topic talk. Many of us who became comfortable posting publicly and developed public friendships have taken our chats to private email. We did that because we developed a trust... You think the newbies are just going to pick one of us and know we arent weirdos and have a blast privately? No. They need to post publicly and make friends the same way we did. The list is evolving. It is growing and it will be even better. ACH!! I lost my train of thought. Paul Syndrome. Selena...I'm gonna post to the list AND CC the recipient. Just watch me. :) ------------------------------ From: "James H. Anyone else live in that area. If a survey hasn't been done as to which states people are from, please send me your name and the state you live in/came from. (both if different, make sure to distinguish which is which) After I collect a bunch of the responses I will send out the results. I'll probably wait about 2 weeks so that everyone has a chance to send me the info. It must be a couple years old. No new stuff on it from 9 Objects of Desire. By the way, Chris, I would like a copy of this concert. Thanks > The Queen & THe Soldier A beautiful poem/story without the music, even better with. I love this song. > Tom's Diner Yes, Suzanne did write this song. She did it acapella on her second album, Solitude Standing from 1987 (?) and the dance remake was done by DNA a couple years later, I think. In the acapella version, she doesn't do the "doot doot doo doo" part until the very end. In the DNA version, she does it after every verse. Paul Kim ------------------------------ From: "James H. I saw Jewel on Farm Aid- hee hee- they sure did get rowled up during chime bells! I had my first public comment on my F#@* U! I'm Sensitive shirt today. She said it was cute and i said thanks- it's a jewel shirt. She was like what? I said Jewel- the singer. She said that's what she thought i said. She asked me where i got it. I said the concert. I told her about JS and such. Heh, i guess most people don't expect sweet little miss jewel to have a shirt that says FU :) Oh, in case you're wondering, no, i didn't ask her out and she avoided me like i was some crazed fan or something for going on about jewel :) James, who thinks the smell of a new room being added to a restaurant only enhances the taste of chicken fingers ________________________________________________________________________ Computer Science/Engineering Eng. I wear it in public weekly, but rarely (once or twice) get a comment.. tho when I wear it to concerts, it works it's magic. :> I bought it at my first Jewel concert.. when I saw her at Penn State in April. At my next concert in Toronto (yes Tom, when you were there too!!), someone named Genevieve (sp?) came up to me and started talking to me cuz she was wondering where I got it. :> When I went and saw Jewel at the Del Mar Faire, I got TEN comments on it!! Yes. I was there the whole day.. but hey. :P When I wore it to the concert in Mountain View, I only got one comment on it, and I don't recall wearing it to JewelStock for good reason. :P Gerrit - -- "The best cure for insomnia is to get a lot of sleep" - W.C.
