I described the quality at that time as like driving down a washboarded road in a 55 Ford pickup and listening to an AM radio that had loose speaker wires. If they can get CD quality across the net now, that would be a great leap in technology. In any case, with the archive you can do it at a time when there isn't as much traffic and probably get better quality. I plugged the patch cord in the back of the card on one end and into the input jack at the other. You may have to play with the various volume controls to get it right. Variable output with blasting, and dropout was a real problem during the live broadcast. And, I lost connection about 30 second before Jewel started and had to reconnect in a hurry. And believe it or not, I do have a full notebook detailing all the edits, sources & processing that occurred during the assembly of the production masters. It had to all be figured out prior to assembly. I haven't been paying total attention to the list lately, but I'd be happy to answer any technical questions about the JS tapes. So when posting a question, cc it to me & I'll post the answer more quickly.I'm on the digest & get behind otherwise. OK on to your questions: <> Soundboard direct sources for this portion of Thursdays show were only available on Hi Fi Stereo tracks from the videotape master that was done in the Mobile Unit. (They also had a camera in the balcony unrelated to Skinny Pete's 3 cameras.)You will notice that "Amen" comes exactly at the 2 hour point in Thursdays show. This is where the tapes ran out & that intro was missing. I checked the other videos & since all were also running 2 hour blanks, they had the same problem. Thus the missing intro. <> The electric sets from both nights were removed completely.(mainly for reasons, Mike already explained.) Very likely most, if not all,of those songs were planned for inclusion on the new CD. I don't know if the track list has been finalized. <> The DAT soundboard master tapes ran out during "RTR" & apparently no-one noticed until right before the last encore. So half of "RTR" & all of "Grey Matter" was completely missing, along with the "Damn the Harris Brothers" comment. The Mobile Unit did not videotape the second night. So.....This gets complicated, but what I did was this: Utilizing Skinny Pete's videos, I first had to make a new audio master tape (of the missing 10 minutes) using the mono audio from the right camera into the right channel & the mono audio from the left camera into the left channel. I had to get both video tapes in perfect synch & this gave me a decent stereo audio of that missing sequence.I processed that recording to get rid of most of the hiss & video noise on it. After getting it as good sounding as possible,I edited it in so that nothing was missing. I realized after doing that final edit, that I had the talk back microphone on in the studio. So you can hear AmyJo & I laughing while watching the videos on the monitors. But the edit was so perfect,(and doubting my ability to do it again,) I left it alone. <> The ONLY SONGS missing are the electric set songs. I'd be happy to adress other specific questions. Send em along. I'll answer 'em as I get 'em. Sorry to all who are incredibly bored by this technical minutia. Which is better: a Jewel concert or 50 bux and the entire Jewel music collection? Jewel is doing a free concert in Gainesville, and I want to go. Since it's on a Thursday, I have to skip classes at my university in Tampa. My parents don't want me to go because of that, and also because of the recent tropical storm Josephine (weather has been terrible). They said if I don't go, then they'll give me $50 and, in addition, buy me all of the stuff she's in (JS tapes, Wiz of Oz, etc.) So what should I do? The only reason why I would want to go to a Jewel concert is to lose my interest in her. You see, I'm kinda infatuated with her. So when I get infatuated with famous female stars (i.e. musical artists, professional athletes, TV/movie celebrities), I go to a concert or show or game, and then I don't become infatuated with them anymore. I don't know why, but it works. Of course I'll still love her music, not her legs...err looks. Some of you might be wondering why I don't want to be infatuated with Jewel. Well, I'll tell you. I came to this stupid University of South Florida cause I followed this chic to this place. When TNT was showing Jewel's WWSYS video (a promo for the Wiz of Oz:Dreams Don't Come True), I said, "Hey, she looks like (name of the chic)!" Well, everything went to hell with me and that chic, and everytime I think of Jewel, I think of that chic, and that sucks cause now I'm infatuated with Jewel. A note to all college bound angels, never follow a loved one to a college. Even if it's your spouse, don't follow unless you LIKE that college. Trust me, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. I sure am. Whoa, I'm off the subject. Anyways, what should I do, besides getting a life? Do I go to the concert, or accept the my parents' bribe? I need your input.
