I'll second this though I've only heard a couple of tunes from a recent Live in Toronto (CFNY) gig (no tape sorry, I was in the car driving). I've long been a fan of the Bangles and especially Ms. Hoffs, I'm the one (*grin*) who bought that copy of her first album :-) Its on my list of things to buy. James. P.S. When Jewel used to perform them at the Innerchange she said that she used to have a Swedish boyfriend--who taught her enough words to learn to write the Swedish Lullaby (The Wolf and the Dolphin) and the Swedish words in Wild Horses (The Poem Song). She always hoped no one in the audience knew Swedish because she wasn't very sure of her own Swedish. I find it hard to believe that she couldn't ask her boyfriend what the Swedish words for man and woman are--I assume she was joking when she said that. Remembering back to these old Innerchange days, I'm reminded of a story she used to tell I haven't heard mentioned in awhile. Jewel used to say that she didn't like small yippy dogs, that she always felt tempted to kick them, and that it would be funny if they had a contest for drop-kicking small animals--and then rate them as to how well they did their double somersaults or half-gainers with a twist. Very politically incorrect, but also quite funny (despite the fact that I have a small pomeranian who I would never dream of drop-kicking and would probably do bodily harm to anyone who did--even Jewel). I try to avoid phish - I went to the college where they all went to, and was in-un-date-ed with unwashed phish-heads for 2 years. I got a little under-whelmed with it in a hurry, believe you me! I also had the oh-so-wonderful opportunity of working the Phish concert in Plattsburgh, NY -- a week on the tarmack at the air base fried out any love of Phish. That is also assuming that he can play the sound file also. =) It will be quite large, but I have plenty of space to dump it onto. Unfortunately, *I* don't have any of the equipment available to me anymore, but I'm sure there are at least a few EDA's who do. :) If anyone can make an au file for the song, and can put it somewhere I can ftp it from, I can put it on my web site (under 4 megs would be nice) for you to access. =) Gerrit ------------------------------ From: Alexander Stamou Date: Wed, 2 Oct 1996 18:22:19 +0200 (MET DST) Subject: Re: Swedish Songs and Politically Incorrect Stories On Wed, 2 Oct 1996, jeffrey hanson wrote: > =20 > Some questions came up about the Swedish songs. It IS funny! Reminds me of when we lived in Santa Maria, Ca. My dad used to take a daily walk around the block. Everyday this little weenie-dog waited behind a bush and darted out at his ankles, nipping and yipping. So, one day Dad was ready, adjusted his step and when the dog ran out at him, punted the little mutt about 12 feet through the air. That weenie-dog never bothered him again. Jewel is girl after my own heart. I can't stand those yippy little curs.
