(i own maybe 5... i collect [as a hobbie] cd's and other related matter on tori amos, sheryl crow, poe, and heather nova.) out of those 4 artists mentioned, that's all i have. tori alone has over 100 on the market! but, i also like the non-lp song idea that's why i have all of jewel's official releases... but, i must ask: unless you must have one for your super-documented jewel collection, WHY BUY A JEWEL BOOTLEG IF YOU'RE ON A COOL LIST LIKE THIS? i've been on this list not even 2 weeks and i already have more jewel shows to listen to than i have time for! i have no need to ever buy a jewel bootleg. - -rusty - ----------------------------------------------------- if i'm not here, then you're not here - miss. creation ("Hard To Make A Stand" - Sheryl Crow) - -rusty (agentorange2@juno.com) ------------------------------ From: Leave the shadows dancing Date: Sat, 28 Sep 1996 03:07:34 -0400 (EDT) Subject: *cry* Temple Show - Can't go!?!? :( Anyone crazy enuf to help us out!? Hi everyone!!! Lauren and I were planning on driving down to see Jewel at the Temply Show near Philly.. but my car died!! It's getting the carborator replaced (rebuilt? whatever) from parts they had to fed-ex from Buffalo. Apparantly, they didn't get them in time to finish the job on Friday, so I am carless until Monday. ANYWAY.. let me get to the point. :) I have two tickets to the show (Selena, I'll make sure you get the $$), but I now have NO way of getting there (I feel real bad cuz i promised Lauren I'd pick her up), and NO way of getting the tickets there (too late). Does anyone have ANY constructive ideas!? I am so lost. :( Unfortunately, I can't call LD either.. so chances are Lauren will just think I never got home or didn't want to call her. :P (Well, until she checks her e-mail, eheh) I'm waking up early as to hope to catch any lucky ideas. I was thinking of renting a car,.... hmmm... wonder what time they open. :> I'm tired! I'm going to sleep and waking up to the phone (Lauren?) or to my alarm clock at 7amish. (So I can debate possibilities of going) Not like this is my first exp or anything (hell, it'd be my 7th show), but I was REALLY looking forward to seeing some of you lovely EDA's again and to try and get Jewel to sign my blue muffin hat. ;) Sadly, Gerrit ------------------------------ From: cyberdude123@juno.com (matt r myhra) Date: Sat, 28 Sep 1996 04:12:36 EDT Subject: My name Ok. I'm saving it, though, for when I release myself from this bondage and go on to drier pastures. Some songs could of fit in great with the first album but most like the first one are of a new "I'm not a pop-singer!" style. The first song has a kinda industrial feel to it (its about aliens I think) and here voice is just intoxicating. The lyrics are amazing expressing feelings with out directly saying them, which is always a bonus in my book much like 10,000 miles works. The album has a nice mix of accoustic and electric sounds blended together. Favorites off of it, th first (cause I like aliens too) Maybe Angels, Sweet Rosalyn (the song's lyrics mess with your head), Redemption (kinda of a Bruce Springsteen feel to it, with beautiful story telling lyrics), I had to make a Decission is so fun to sing along with, and Everyday is a Winding Road makes me look for a dancing partner to get close and fast. Overall an excellent album, she's expanded on her style and vocals, and much like the cover (showing a shot of Sheryl mainly in the shadows) this is a darker album (lot of talk of people living terrible lives, dead celebrities and aliens) than the first but still as much fun as the first but more of a but on the headphones rather than turn up the speakers. "I'm your man" is probably my single favorite studio album of his, and was a long running staple of mine in the college radio daze. I think it's available as a "Nice Price" reissue, too. "Everybody Knows" is covered by Don Henley, I think, on the "Tower Of Song" Leonard Cohen tribute album. It's NOT on the Greatest Hits, for some reason. :( I think it also showed up on a CMJ compilation, as did another Leonard Cohen song, "First We Take Manhattan" (different compilation volumes, not the same one) If I'm wrong, someone will no doubt correct me. :) Ray Wong PO BOX 6163 negativl@netcom.com, negativl@best.com Hayward, CA 94540-6163 Member #11537, Debbie Gibson International Fan Club Co-Founder and Charter Member, Sutton Foster International Fan Club ------------------------------ From: Raphael the archangel <75271.2740@CompuServe.COM> Date: 28 Sep 96 16:10:24 EDT Subject: Jewel and Braveheart! Another good reason to be on the list, so we can be managed like a herd of sheep. You don't manage me. You volunteered to act as a moderator for the news-list and now you want us to make your job easy for you. But in order to do that we have to stop having fun. Hey, all of you at the Temple concert. Don't forget that while you stand in line for two hours, that you talk about nothing but Jewel. This is a Jewel show, so watch your content. After a while as the volume of conversation gets to be too much, have a quite time. But listen. After you all come back, don't be afraid to flood the list with set lists, tape offers, extra tee-shirts to sell and all that very exiting stuff. Don't forget to tell us what Jewel was wearing and if you saw her smoke a cigarette. But what ever you do, don't tell us about the kind of EDA's you met. Or what they look like. Or any of the stories from the party van. The List Police don't give a shit about any of you. They only want Jewel Content.
