GOD KNOWS WHAT TIME IT IS by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 God knows what time it is And I awakened by what? Perhaps a noise unsettled me Or a fitful dream filled me with sour grapes and snowstorms Limbs torn at the joints with a heavy and transluscent burden He was on my lips again Haunting me Soiled linen Bloody and tangled About my intestines I want to get out So I sit and I sweat A blond flame of a refugee Throwing up words Like gravestones In the bathroom 2. HAUNTED BY 2 LIPS AT 3:00 A.M. by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 This cigar will not leave me And I too lazy to get my book Write on random pages To further dizzy and dilute Any scrap of discipline I dreamt I gained by the silly age of 22 Not even coated in nickel or copper Just a harsh brass That stares me down in a mirror On nights like this While my lover sleeps His razor sharp princess Disillusioned by falling stars And haunted by 2 lips at 3:00 A.M. 3. INFATUATION by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 Infatuation is a strange thing A bony creature Thin from feeding on itself It is addicted not to its subject But to it's own vain hunger And needs but a pretty face To fuel its rampant imagination It's humid couch and sweaty palms It's fleshy carpets ablaze with conquest But when conquering is complete The blood leaves its limbs And it becomes disenchanted Dissipointed even to the point of disgust With its subject who sits there Like a hollow trunk emptied of its cargo And left to fade like defeated naval ships A seed relieved of its transparent husk To dissolve finally On a rough and impatient toungue 4. Son Bathing by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 (This poem is #^@$ed up! but aint it the truth??? is oogle a word???) I read a book and the man thinks I cannot see the wrinkled posture of his son while he is nudged He thinks I cannot sense four eyes upon my flesh As the father tries to bond with his teenage boy by oogling my breasts 5. I GUESS WHAT I WANTED by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 I guess what I wanted was to hear you'd stay with me always I guess what I wanted was to see those hands vowing never to leave my own I guess what I wanted to know was that I am not living in vain 6. FAT by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 There she sat a mound of flesh With just two eyes to comprehend The extensiveness of her being She made a mountain of herself So no-one could look down So no-one would miss or fail to see The tiny woman hands that talked Desperately of delicate things Through a fistful of rings To all who would stop and listen 7. TAKING THE SLAVE by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 Burn her eyes without hope of understanding them Kiss her mouth that you may fathom its strange toungue Rape her mind because it is not your own But so sweet, So familiar Like coming home to a native land Your pale and inbred hands can only faintly fathom 8. LOST,ALONE,FEAR,DESPERATION,HOPE,GRACE by Jewel Kilcher LOST is a puzzle of stars that breaths like water and chews like stone. ALONE is a reminder of how far your acceptance is from your understanding. FEAR is a bird that believes itself into extinction. DESPERATION - the honest recognition of a false truth. HOPE- seeing who you really are at your highest is who you will become. GRACE- the refinement of a soul through time. 9. I AM NOT FROM HERE by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 I am not fom here My hair smells of the wind and is full of constellations And I move about this world with a healthy disbelief And I approach my days and my work with vaporous consequence A touch that is translucent, but can violate stone 10. AS A CHILD I WALKED... by Jewel Kilcher 7/96 As a child I walked with noisy fingers Along the hemline of so many meadows of back home Green fabric stretched out, shy earth, shock of sky I'd sit on logs like pulpits Listen to the sermons of sparrows And find God in simplicity There among the dandelions and thorn Now I frequent hotel lobbies Like a chain smoker having a bad day A nasty habit that breeds itself Delivering each day to the needy next Each with the promise of glitter and glory But how my tiny heart aches to return Like a daisy rooted in rot and rubbish Asked to grow in strange rooms Fed neon and cold pizza I fear I may wither with forgetfulness So I pull these pages close about my ears Tiny leafy limbs pale with impression My pen a single flame to keep me warm Like a beacon holding memory Until I am able to go back to my lovely mountains Or until I am strong enough to bring the essence to the rest of these hungry people Who long to remember the simplicity which lies beyond the cities inbred streets And the Godliness that resides in us all ------------------------------ From: "jerry shinley" Date: 22 Sep 1996 18:32:02 -0000 Subject: Jewel Feature in Guitar World Acoustic #19 There's a large photo, brief interview and transcription of WWSYS in "Guitar World Acoustic" issue 19. Of course very early in my life, I did not like girls too, however both of those things did change. One change invloved hormones, the other, just being around Llamas. Most folks that have not been around llamas have a similar reaction, in fact it's part of the fun of owning llamas. In the early days of the internet there was a spoof group of programmers called "the llamas". There was even llamaware software. Two weeks ago, I was asked by some buddies to bring a llama as a theme for their entry in a local chili cookoff. Llama Redneck Chili was born that day. Mr. Peso (Origin: Chile.. Species: Llama) carried around a pack with candy for the kids and he was led around all day by every child in the place. Most of my friends in the city look for reasons to visit the ranch whenever they can. They think it's a kick and that's great. My day to day life invloves working in corporate america, I very much enjoy it when someone mentions in an important meeting, that I own llamas... ya gotta keep folks off balance. Can't get too serious anout this stuff. You mentioned that you knew that llamas visited nursing homes and hospitals. These animals are amazing to watch in those situations, there is a connection that can't be explained and it's wonderful. Llamas are used for packing. They were called the "Truck of the Andes", the Inca Empire was built with the help of the llama. Today they will carry the backpackers load without fuss or harm to the enviornment. I mountain climb and there's nothing like being transported to base camp with your llama buddies. As strange as it seems, there is a huge show circut for llamas. Llamas are being used as golf caddies too. There are 1000+ ranches in the US and more that 100,000 registered llamas. Bottom line.. It's hard to get upset with Mike. I run into that attitude all the time, besides Ya gotta keep a sense of humor if you raise llamas. It's not the norm, but then who wants to live there. I could go on forever, but the easiest way to learn more is to go to "Llama Web" and some of the other odd following links. Thanks for sticking up for llamas Victor, besides I'll bet at least one other person on your list is not a person at all, but is a Llama!
