Take action!! Hey all, Excuse the non-Jewel content, but seeing as though Jewel is such a fighter for social change and equality, I am in hopes that there are enough of you out there willing to take 2 mintues to fight for change in this country. Damn! What a pothead I am sounding like these days!! (pothead = political head). I am sure you all know that the Defense of Marriage Act got passed last week. We only have one last chance to save this terrible act of bigotry and that is to call Clinton directly and tell him to VETO the Defense of Marriage Act. I just called in for me and 4 other friends and said, "There are 5 of us here who are registered voters, 4 of whom voted for Clinton, and we all want him to veto the Defense of Marriage Act." The operator just asked what city we were calling from, she didn't take our names or anything, though I was prepared to give them to her. Anyways, this leads me to believe I can call and leave numerous messages. "Hi, me and my 72 roommates all want Clinton to veto the DOMA... AND we are all registered voters." hehehe Anyways, I apologize for the non-Jewel content, but seeing as though she is definitely politically aware and in fight of change, I thought there would be enough people out there who would want to call... Maybe call even more than once... :) Just dial the White House at (202)456-1111 and hit 0 (zero) to skip through the greeting and little test thing the automated operator puts you through (I know some of us are calling long-distance!!) and that will put you straight through to a live operator. Thanks all, for tryig to save the world... We've got a hell of a way to go. Everyday Angels, If you are going to sign up to be a Leaf (get copies) for the JewelStock Tapes, please read this and adhere to this special request. Please, for the next 9 days, DO NOT change anything about your EMAIL address and/or "name/nickname/handle" that gets attached to your EMAILs. If you absolutely HAVE TO, EMAIL me and we'll handle it. examples: my EMAILs identify me as: Mike Connell and/or ducksoup@spectra.net Crunch's (aka Mark Nissley) EMAILs identify him as: Crunch and/or nestle@ptd.net Akira's EMAILs identify him as: Richard Chang and/or rchang@itsmail1.hamilton.edu etc. None of that information should be changed by anyone during the leaf signup period for the JewelStock Tapes tree. The reason I am asking this is because if I don't recognize the name or EMAIL address of a Leaf's request, I have to check it per my alphabetized log of list members of Jewel, Jewel-digest and Jewel-news. (remember, a Leaf has to have been a member of one of the three Jewel mailing lists as of the date of my log: 12:01am EST Monday September 16th) I am positive I won't recognize many names (i.e. lurkers, infrequent posters-to-the-list etc) The list is partially alphabetized by EMAIL address, partially by name, partially by nickname/handle. If you change any of that, and I don't recognize your name/EMAIL address, I WON'T find it on the list where it should be and I would have to deny your request for tapes. (I would reply to your request, explaining the problem and we could straighten it out) Any questions on this issue, first re-read this post. If you then still need a question answered on this matter, then by all means please EMAIL me.
