What Jewel, and we too, should all consider in our decisions of preference in this matter is this: Which Album name will make the best acronym...I mean...in 4 months, we're gonna be writing it ALL the time...take the time and consider how we will shorten down... 1. GDB....pretty catchy, can be done with one hand...a DEFINITE plus... 2. FDKTS, TJFS....looks pretty awkward if you ask me, I dunno, looks like it would take a while to type...it did this time... 3. ACOI ( possibly ACI )....I kinda like it cuz it has a lot of Vowels, and it looks like it would throw off the newbies :> 4. TAOF ( possibly TAF )...Not much to look at, at first...but then, if you look close...it's the word FAT backwards... :) So it all depends, do you wanna type FAT backwards or not... 5. PFH....Strong enough for a man, but PFH balanced for a woman...I'm sorry I couldn't resist... hee hee hee :) So it's all up to Jewel, but, what does Jewel think we should type...my fav. is GDB in typing... Try it...you can really do it fast...FDKTS, TJFS is long yet unmistakable...ACOI ( or ACI ) is kinda neat lookin' but not too much else goin for it...TAOF ( or TAF ) FAT BACKWARDS...'nuff said...PFH takes a second or two to type...not a very hand acronym...but the humorous potentional is ASTOUNDING... Well, that's all I really have to say... \\\|/// º¿º V Mac You can call me Slunkers "Where are you now? Sorry for the confusion; was getting a couple of "dropped" articles I'd recently read confused. Atlantic has dropped quite a few, but the article I was referring to concerned Priority Records dropping some of it's bands. Full text: "Priority Records has closed their rock division, which means they've dropped Foreskin 500, Congo Norvell, the [oughta-be-huge-but-don't- have-one-marketable-sound] Rugburns, and, most disappointing is dropping of the up and coming band, Magnapop. Guess they all didn't sound enough like Bush or Oasis." Greenfield "Graywolf" OK, angels, here's the 411 on Jewel's appearance at the aids benefit in L.A. on October 5: Jewel is one of the headliners, along with Joan Osborne, Soul Asylum, Presidents of the USA, and Extra Fancy, at The Concert To Benefit The Pedro Zamora Foundation, educating America's youth about AIDS. The concert will be held at the Olympic Velodrome on the campus at Cal State U. - Dominguez Hills, in southern L.A. County. This ambitious and noble project will be nationally simulcast; major sponsors include MTV, KROQ, Westwood One, and Ticketmeister (although noone I spoke to at Ticketmonster could tell me anything about it). TICKETS GO ON SALE TOMORROW (9/14) AT 10:00 A.M. General admission tickets will cost $25 (plus the usual Ticketmasher ups and extras). The venue can accommodate up to 10,000 people. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available directly through the foundation (that's where you'll find me sitting). At $100 per ticket, you will be benefitting a terrific cause, and that's less than the scalpers will get, but they will go quickly; call the foundation soon, directly, at 213.464.4241. Jewel should be congratulated for her efforts on behalf of this worthy cause. I hope to see you there! I think I'm already committed to another party for New Years, but if not, I'd love to join the gathering. I do have thoughts about Times Square, though and they are this: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! It may just be me, but I don't relish being imprisoned in the midst of like five million drunkards in the freezing cold. I do have another suggestion. The best New Year's Eve I've ever had was two years ago when my friends & I did First Night in Manhatten. For about $20, there are activities all day and night such as: waltzing in Grand Central Station. Free admission to the Empire State Building, Swing Dancing at the Manhatten Center as well as events the Library, the Met building, the World Trade Center, the Zoo - the list goes on and on. You also get free shuttles on a double decker bus all night that takes you from place to place and coupons for dinners and such. It's a great deal and a lot of fun.
