Hi, Just wanted to let everyone know that Sting will be on VH-1 crossroads at 7p/10e. It is a decent show idea...So tape it if it sounds good.... "Produced by Peter Collins (Jewel, Bon Jovi, Suicidal Tendencies),.." First time I have seen her name as an important credit. And before Bon Jovi and ST? Pretty cool, methinks. Told you it was minor! Just thought I'd mention that I'll be heading up there on Saturday (the 7th ) for the whole day, so, if anyone wants to caravan or even meet me at my house and get a ride... or meet us there... well, gosh, you know, it would be, like, fun or something :). I only live about 20 minutes away, so I could probably meet you guys down there! Let me know of the plans. Lisa ------------------------------ From: Hiranya@aol.com Date: Sun, 1 Sep 1996 22:48:08 -0400 Subject: Misc. etc. Lawrence Carroll, director of Jewel's new video, is not a relative of Lenedra's (her last name is Carroll) as far as any one knows. By the way, Lenedra said a list member she talked with at the show mentioned that there is a rumor that 'Hiranya' is more than one person. I think the FAC explains that 'Hiranya' is a name that Lenedra and I selected rather than use my own. For a couple of reasons. First, I dont want to be all that well known, I'm more of a quiet and behind the scenes type. Also, it may not always be me that does this so we decided on a name that would stay the same regardless of who was volunteering so that people on the list would know it comes from a source close to Jewel. Right now it is me almost all the time, though a few times another volunteer put things on when I couldnt. Just to be clear. Sorry about my post with dates. I got all three of them wrong cuz I was looking at the wrong month on my calendar. It was fun to see that you guys caught it! Thanks! From one "loser" to another, I think you might consider this: Perhaps the "geeks" on the list have very busy and active lives and their time on the computer is, in fact, a time out - a time to relax and chat with friends they've made around the country through this amazing thing called the internet. Maybe it's a nice time to get away from the bullshit and diatribes heard all day at work and bask in the warmth and care of people they trust and have something in common with (Jewel?). Maybe not everything we "assholes" have to say is of interest to everyone else, but I'll bet all of it's interesting to some and I for one would miss a lot of it if it went away. Also, if you're someone who has to "try to be nice" and who wants to keep Jewel and her important message to himself, maybe you're the one who's part of the problem? Just MY opinion. Amy, yet another Jersey-ite PS - Phil, I thought what you said was much more thoughtful and made a lot of sense. ------------------------------ From: W1GGY2@aol.com Date: Mon, 2 Sep 1996 00:31:47 -0400 Subject: Re: JC?NJC? the latte may be too hot >Does anyone else find it disturbing that Jewel is nominated for "Best New Artist?" Amy ------------------------------ From: haze@earthlink.net Date: Mon, 02 Sep 1996 00:22:09 -0400 Subject: A poem... Since others have shared, I will too... - --------------------------------------- The other night I had a vision I saw an angel in her sleep And though no words were spoken She convinced me to believe. Her wings I did not notice Nor a halo above the head Not in a statuesque position But fetal, like a child, instead. She wasn't in the sky High above, resting on a cloud No trumpets, harps, or horns In fact, there was no sound. A brilliant light DID surround her But it radiated from within An extension of herself Her love, reaching out for a friend. Her expression was that of pure faith Like she was who she wanted to be But this ideal seemed to leave her mind When her eyes went open to see. Even though she did not catch me Breathing her every breath from afar I managed to escape only from her sight My presence could not elude her heart. Since that night I can't stop questioning The meaning I recollect She must desire what I want for myself Someone to love and to protect. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V1 #530 ***************************
