SkinnyPete@aol.com (who led the team that shot the video) knows LESS about this topic than any list member. ;) Alan is out of town right now until next week, so I'll answer this with what he has told me. (SUCK!!! IT SUCKED!) then we went on congo rapids where we got wet for the day. oh joy. the disposable camera got quite soaked on that ride. next was batman: the ride. another hour and a half wait. it's tom's favorite ride. year whatever. (SUCK!!! IT SUCKED!) of course, being a hot day, there were lots of girls in bikini tops with flat stomachs, which was nice. of course, i feel in love with any girl with a pierced navel. :) with about an hour and a half left for the day, we went on the looping starship for some upside down fun. (hey, a tori reference!) we briskly went through the line until we were second to go on the ride, when they had technical difficulties. ack! we wound up waiting about 15 minutes for them to sort it out, but we finally went on and had the blood rush into our heads, then back into our body, then back into our head, then back into our body, then back into our head... afterwards, we decided to play video games, then left. we took a picture with speedy gonzales, thinking of miguel (speedygo). stopped at mcdonalds, where i had my first arch deluxe, talked to the girl at the register about tori and pearl jam, then came back home to union. yeah! that's pretty much it. oh, here's the humor content...things heard at Great Adventure: "hey, kids under 36 inches get in free. dean could get in without anything!" "hey, you have to be 54 inches to ride the scream machine. guess dean wouldn't be able to ride it" "look, it's akira! no, it's just some asian guy." "that girl's pretty hot. too bad she's jailbait." "actually, all EDAs decided to come here today, but they're somewhere else in the park cause they didn't want to out with us" "some guy with long grey hair...dennis harris!" "that girl's pretty hot. too bad she's jailbait." during the first loop of the scream machine, in vain: "aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! jesus christ!" during the second loop of the scream machine, in vain: "aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! dennis harris!" "look, it's paul kim! no, it's just some asian guy." "that girl's pretty hot. too bad she's jailbait." "the monkeys in the safari don't rip cars apart for any old reason. they're trained to strip specific parts, then great adventure sells them to junk yards" "mmmm..." "tom, what're you looking at?" "a girl" "describe her" "long hair and two breasts" after riding on skull mountain: "this ride sucks! it sucks! suck! suck! suck! suck! suck! suck! suck! suck!" "that girl's pretty hot. too bad she's jailbait." "i don't think we're gonna get very wet on this ride" *SPLASH!* "okay, so sue me" after riding on batman-the ride: "this ride sucks! it sucks! suck! suck! suck! suck! suck! suck! suck! suck!" "hey, wanna go on the bumper cars?" "sure, just as long as crash boy doesn't wreck 'em" "that girl's pretty hot. too bad she's jailbait." "hey, you went to the tori concert?" "yeah, she was cool" "aww, i couldn't go, but i'm going to go see pearl jam" "really? that's cool. you got an extra ticket?" "is it me or has the list not been talking about jewel lately?" "jewel? who's that?" "that girl's pretty hot. too bad she's jailbait." eric :) ------------------------------ From: Mike Connell Date: Thu, 29 Aug 1996 23:18:15 -0400 Subject: JewelStock Tape Tree: blank tape recommendation Fellow Everyday Angels, First of all, this post is NOT a request for branches. That WILL come Monday. Thirty some odd hours ago my master tapes of the JewelStock Concerts arrived at my door. I've been on cloud nine since. These things are quite amazing......be excited, be VERY excited!!! I find it hard to express into words how much I know you all are going to enjoy these tapes. Because of this, I must relay some information/advice to those of you whom may not have thought of blank-tape QUALITY before. Plain and simple, get the best you can afford. I've been an audiophile for over 20 years now and whenever the "source" was of exceptional quality, I got the best blank tapes I could get. This is CLEARLY one of those times. No bout-a-doubt it! Whether you are going to be a branch or a leaf, I HIGHLY recommend a Maxell XLII-S (stress the S) and I STRONGLY recommend a METAL tape for all the potential branches, assuming you have metal capability. (and leafs too, if you wish, however you might want to go with metal only IF your branch has metal masters, branches should consult their manual in this case).....For the uninitiated, seeds (myself and three others) dub tape-sets for branches.....branches dub tape-sets for leafs....leafs are the end of the organized tree. In a nutshell, the higher quality tapes are indeed better, perhaps much better. It's not just the tape itself that is better, more technology goes into the casing/shell, which are longer lasting. These better tapes have a higher dynamic range as as well as the quality goes up, and THEY will last longer also.....also for the uninitiated, "dynamic range", in the simplest laymans terms (definition courtesy of Radio Shack - a Tandy company) is "the span of volume between the loudest and softest sounds, either in an original signal or within the span of a recorder's capability....." Soundwise, more highs and more lows. In other words more music for your buck. You will need three 90 minute blanks now, one more for the fourth tape to be treed after Jewel's next CD is released in January or February. (The 4th tape will include the 10 total songs that Jewel sang with the band on the two nights of JewelStock, plus some surprises hopefully) Recommended blanks: Maxell XLII-S generally easy to find, priced good (I suppose that XLII will do for a leaf, but I'd go with the XLII-S) Maxell MX-S a metal tape. Maxell's "high end"/best. They ain't cheap, but they ARE worth it. Usually in pack of two, mine cost me five dollars each, but Linus Gelber got his for $4 each in NYC. However, considering that by the time you get the fourth treed tape in February, you'll be getting nearly SIX HOURS of VERY high quality music (by the very artist we all adore) how can you go wrong? Now you tell me...ain't sixteen to twenty dollars a small amount to pay for all that?...a special present from Jewel. That's exactly what this is. A present from Jewel, you just gotta supply the blanks. There are other less expensive metal tapes....quite prevalent is the Sony Metal SR, which go for $2.50 around these parts. Do it, you won't be sorry! Something to think about is that these tapes will have to last you "forever" anotherwords they will never come out on a CD. So you would do right to invest in the best tapes available. I can also reccomend an excellent tape from Denon called the MX-G100. They are expensive $5.00ea, but incredible. just another reccomendation. Take care all angeles.
