Anyone who can sing like Jewel.. or near.. gimme a ring! ;) Anyway.. I'm curious.. what do all the people of the world think of Oklahoma City? I've never decided whether people think we're all hicks, sticks, or just the "norm" in the mid-us.. BTW - Will Jewel ever come here to sing?? doubt it.. only hard rock bands do.. Rugburns CDs for Toni. I suspect she'll have a few comments to add, but I'll put my $.02 up here for what it's worth. We both feel there's a lot of "Taking the World by Donkey" which has Jewel woven through it. Possibly some tremors of impending breakup("You're So Busy"), maybe some shared humor("Tree Hugger"). I feel it's barely the best of the three, but they're all good discs. Not for the humor-impaired or easily squicked, though; especially the cover of "Mommy, I'm Sorry" and the title of "Morning Wood". Huh huh. :) My favorite tracks? "Old Lover's House", the above two, plus the obligatory "Me and Eddie Vedder" and "I hate F*cking Christmas". :) :) Will Kilcherphiles like the Rugburns? If you like Jewel's wackier tunes like "Rocker Girl", "God's Gift To Women", and "Race Car Driver", you'll probably be able to enjoy the 'burns. If you enjoy "Silver Lining" and "Daddy, She's a Goddess" then you're destined for fandom. Poltz & co. do write some more serious tunes, but as of a week's acclimatization I can't say they blow me away yet. All competently written and prduced, though.
