(guess she felt she had to add something to it for taking away so much). Has she ever used that PS before? Like someone was saying earlier, it's great that Jewel really speaks her mind and doesn't censor her opinions all the time because someone else may not like them. There's absolutely nothing wrong with not liking Bob Dole or Mormons or whatever. You don't even need a reason to feel that way; you should never have to justify yourself (I have a Blender promo disc with an interview of Tori saying about the same thing -- "... you don't have to, like, justify everything. Being pissed off is absolutely okay.") On the other hand, I do sort of close my eyes and pause when I hear someone say they wish harm on another person. Even if they don't mean it. (Be careful of what you ask...) I'll never say someone shouldn't say those things or feel that way, but I'd much rather they don't. Your thoughts and your feelings will manifest themselves in your actions and wil affect those around you. Myself? I'm guilty of this, of course. I've been spending a lot of time reconciling myself though and I've stopped hating people -- but not necessarilly loving them either (imperfect me, yes.). But more importantly, I try not to make my opinions matter to others. Therefore I agree with him/her (just can't tell with email, sorry!) that "if there is a sensible bone in her i would say non smoker" because to smoke could cause her music to suffer, as well as her health. Yeah, her dad had an affair, resulting in Nikos. I'm not sure if it was just the affair that caused her parents to split up, but its not all that much our business. I think Jewel did explain that she had complex feelings about it and through the twists and turns came to realize that she loved Nikos, and missed him a great deal. Its a very powerful song, at least in my mind, I don't have siblings and I never, _ever_ missed not having siblings until about a nanosecond or so after this song; it never struck me as something I'd missed out on before. It was certainly an interesting drive home as I thought about that "loss".
