(i'm kuku for coco puffs ) Hello there: I'm bored . I don't like criticizing either ,Hiranya. To tell you the truth the only things I like in this world are Jewel , coffee ,coffee ,coffee and other secret ambitions. What the hell I'm talking about here!! Ok!!, I think Jewel will never get a big audience in Puerto Rico for 3 reasons. She ain't gonna get an audience cause 70% of the puertorican youth population only likes an awful rap/reggae undeground music, and the other 28% only listens to Bob Marley and Alpha Blundy. Another reason is because the older more mature crowd is stuck with some artists that were innovative , and talented some 20 years ago and they are afraid to try a bit more contemporary music. And the last reason is beacause people here can't really appreciate music , their musical taste follows an image or show that is mega exotic and glamorous. They follow a " if it doesn't catches their eye ,throw it out the trash" philosophies". All my friends I mention Jewel to immediately start talking about here breast size , her crooked teeth and that she sings " religious / christian" songs ( aka WWSYS). That pisses me off everytime. I find Jewel very attractive but in that very sweet way. Once a friend made a sexual comment about her , I swear it touched deep inside my soul and it felt like if they would have talked dirty my girlfriend ( well my ex , but IT felt as bad as if someone would have made that comment when I was with my girlfriend). So in a way Jewel is my girlfriend ,well when I'm alone I start talking with the cover of POY and cuddling up to it. What the hell I'm talking about!! Geez!! I'm digressing almost as well as Woody Allen. BTW: Jewel could model ,but not profesionally. She could do some covers , but she isn't tall enough to be a model and doesn't have that model type body. I'm not saying it's not a good body , it's a very nice body if I may say so , but it isn't anorexic model type body. I love Jewel , she makes me think a little deeper , she makes me enjoy more life, she has such a grasp and embodies what life should be about . enjoying the little things ,relaxing and appreciating all that God has given us. My short list Fave Bands & artists: - -Jewel , Farce OStrich, Letters to Cleo , Vannesa Paradis ,Ash , Green Day, Mana. Thank you for kindly correcting me for trying to slow down time and rewrite history. Given the theme of NO Nukes, my answer was a gut reaction. Many people never listened to the words of "Born in the USA" and "War" helps to clarify Bruce's meaning for the song. As I have stated before, I have been a Bruce fan and friend since he had a group called Steel Mill. I should be ashamed for not doing my homework. What follows is the complete intro Bruce gave to "War". "I want to do this next song for all the young people out there tonight," he said sternly. "When you grew up in the Sixties, you grew up with war that your country was involved in every night on television. And , uh, I remember...I remember a friend of mine, the drummer in my first band, comin' over to my house with his Marine uniform on, sayin' that he was goin' to Vietnam and that he didn't know where it was. And kinda laughin' about it. "I'd like to do this song for you, 'cause if you're seventeen or you're eighteen out there, the next time, the next time they're gonna be lookin' at you. And you're gonna need a lot more information before you're gonna be able to make a decision about what's right for you to do. Because in 1985, blind faith in anything-your leaders-will get you killed." -Bruce Springsteen 1985 LA He picked up the mike, took a couple of steps to his left, then turned. "Because what I'm talkin' about here is"--Suddenly he was screaming as the lights exploded to full brightness--"WAR!!!" -Dave Marsh Glory Days That drummer friend he spoke of I believe died in Vietnam.
