First of all this isn't a fair fight, a heavyweight(listmaster) vs a lightweight(one of his flock). Jeff came out with a strong right hand, and hit Ed on the jaw. His hit was on the mark. Yahoo or any of the other search engines could have solved Ed's problem. A less kind fighter could have ended the fight right then and there. He gave Ed a chance to survive the round and he came back a little shaken and light headed. He started with a wild swing with "it takes a lot of time". But then from no where he scored with some great jabs to the face. The use of NJC was the perfect answer. The search engine would not give him a personel opinion or personel experience that could be follow up with private posts. The help he was seeking from the corner was appropriate. But then I had a hard time with the last punch "And please don't send me e-mail telling me it's inappropriate". Was that a low blow? I'm not sure. My score so far has Ed ahead slightly because he stood up to the heavy blows and fought back, but I think he came close to getting disqualified. When it comes to taping, what is the de facto standard for tapes? I mean, is it just plain audio cassettes? Or is it DAT? On some of the music lists to which I subscribe, namely a few of the Dylan lists, people shun anyone who would even suggest trading just plain old audio tapes. They prefer DAT. Regretfully, I was a non-Jewelstock attender since I spent all of my summer travel cash going to NYC to see the one and only Patti Smith in concert at Irving Plaza. I've been a Patti fan for many years and have an ever-growing Patti collection. If you're interested in learning more about her, her poetry, or her music, let me know and I can help you out. What I'm curious about is what exactly Jewel said (was it just her name?) and how she said it. Any help would be appreciated. This just goes to show what great taste Jewel has! Many of which probably have been posted before. To start with, I was looking at Tammy's Jewel T-shirt (the one with the cowgirl) and I suddenly noticed the artist is Lenedra. I can't be the first person to notice this. I don't remember anyone mentioning this before. If Jewel inherited her musical talent, maybe she got her artistic one too!! Second, there has been some discussion about Jewel's second CD. I love everything she has done or could do, but is anyone else sad that her "coffeehouse" days are coming to an end. I am glad she is progressing as she sees fit, but I love just a singer and guitar. I guess the only thing that will cheer me up is when her next "band" album blows my socks off. (who talks like that anyways.) Next, (and now I really am asking for flames) does anyone else have a conflict with a Jewel who sings against the material world (i.e. Little Sister) but then does appearances on shows like "House of Style." Maybe I take her lyrics too personally. And again, please understand, I love Jewel, and my own life is full of such contradictions, but come on.... admit it..... doesn't it bother you a little bit that this great poet who can rip your heart out does shows like that. (I am not even mentioning Michael, that's her own damn business). I have come to the conclusion that maybe she still feels insecure about her success or talent and still feels the need to promote herself on any show that will have her. Not to belittle these programs, and those who enjoy them (after all I can hear the chuckles when I was the Tick every Saturday morning). And not to say I don't enjoy every time I get a chance to see her.... or great now I forgot my point. Oh yeah...... a conflict. Wait, analogy time ..... Howard Stern does the 700 Club and talks about how he loves Jesus. You know... it just doesn't quite fit in my book. Oh well, after I read through the inevitable hate mail maybe I'll realize that I was totally wrong. Peace, and for the love of god play nice....
