We'll miss all of you and the 400 emails I've read in the last four days. I really don't mind except for the letters that were repeated. When Jewel is ready to do another special concert (another JewelStock could ONLY happen in the Bearsville area), she'll be ready. We have no right to whine for at least a year or two. For you EDA's who didn't make the last one, I expect to see you ALL there at the next one! In the meantime, we should band together and make Jewel's public appearances individual "JewelStocks"! The Grateful Dead didn't have to promise free concerts and special treatment, their Deadhead fans just made each concert a special event. If we can drop the drugs and shower more frequently, I'll up for it. If we can do it without creating a negative image, Jewel should be agreeable as well. (Image all the purple Grateful Dead bears we could sell, Robb. Quick, put Fuzzy out to stud!) ***Everybody's writing about her popularity: Jewel will grow as Jewel wants to grow. I think it was the lovely Selena who posted that we have the right to claim her MUSIC, not Jewel HERSELF. Very well put! We have the right to enjoy her art, and share it with this very unique fan base. The quickest way to crush natural talent/beauty and its subsequent brilliance is to attempt to leash it. A funny thing I've realized after many years: We all have MUCH LESS control over things we think we HAVE control over, and MUCH MORE control over things we think we have NO control over. The trick is to figure out which is which! ***CStotes wrote: >would people quit replying to a whole mesage and only reply to the important parts.< I wholeheartedly endorse this idea. I am not a real huge REM fan. I think that Michael Stipe is an excellent songwriter, but for some reason I don't find his voice all that appealing. It seems that a few people have taken my opinions a bit too seriously. Some that I have gotten e-mails from I don't even think are on this list. (especially the one whom wrote to inform me that on a scale of 1 to 10, REM was a 10 and Jewel didn't even register. I HAVE to disagree!) What I meant was that IMHO Jewel has a vocal skill that could take the song to another level entirely. It sounds like something that Jewel would sing. Or write. It is an acoustic rhythm guitar piece (mainly just 4 open chords) and has a simple beauty that would really go well with her voice. Come to think of it, I do remember Rich Melko saying something about this before. Great idea, Rich!
