ARGH! Selena, if you are out there I missed recording the concert last night. Did you? Press: Well, it's up to us, huh? Hmmmm........I think she's getting big enough on her own. When her next album comes out, I think it's going to make a huge splash, so I'm not too worried that not saying too much about JS is really going to cheat her out of well deserved publicity. Those of you at JS know what I mean I think; her stuff with the band is VERY radio-friendly. Poetry: I agree. Her poetry (some of it) knocked me out of my chair. Of course, this is what I chose to mention when I got to meet her, but I 'm not sure how she took it. I said something to the effect of.."Some of your poetry borders on being better than some of your music"...which is not exactly what I meant to say. She just looked at me and said "Oh, thanks" as if she wasn't sure whether or not I was complimenting or insulting her. What I meant was she has obviously come a long way as a poet and some of what she read is accomplished enough to merit serious literary consideration. Ah, but if I only could have had these words available to me then. I was awe-struck. Just to clarify things, I don't know if Mike has done this yet, but I was talking with Mike before the friday show and he said he just said 1st annual Jewelstock as a joke, he didn't know that so many would take it seriously, I know Liz did. My thought on the matter was that whenever Jewel is recording an album there will most likely be a nice venue nearby for her to perform at and thats how Jewelstock could continue. Or we could always buy up all of the tickets for one of her shows and have a surprise Jewelstock.
