First off, both concerts were amazing. I'm so glad I stayed to see both. Jewel is the most dynamic and passion filled performers I have ever seen. She is absoluely amazing. Patty Griffin, too was great. I really hope good things happen to her. I could go on and on about Jewel and her impeciable integrity but, you all would get very bored of this after awhile. So, I'll go on. Is Woodstock not the coolest place in the world. I could deffinitly see myself living there. Any place where lawyers have rainbow signs in their frontyard is a place for me. Also, I'd like to say hello to all the very cool people I met. Dominic and Katie...you guys were the best. I 've got a great picture of the two of you. Also, I have a great picture of Gerrit, Sinjin, and Piglet. Dennis you are really something else (in a good way!) And thanks for getting the encore. Bill, sorry about not coming to The Pinecrest Thurs. nite. Sounds like I missed a wild one. It was great meeting all of you. This truely will be remembered for the rest of my life. -Aaron Mendelson p.s. I have a quick Jewel sighting to report. After the Friday night concert, my friend and I were very hungry. So, we went to the Cumberland Farms convient store right down on Route 212. We were inside getting PB&J& bread when who do you think walks in....That guy on the yellow BMW bike. So, I get in line, pay for the stuff and got a lottery ticket (didn't win...DAMN IT!) and walked outside. I look over and there's Jewel in a gold car waiting for that guy to come out. My friend and I decided to let her be, knowing that she was on her way to the airport and all. So, it looks like I missed my one chance to meet her (except after Thursday nights concert.) I guess I'll go on living. ------------------------------ From: Eric Montas Date: Mon, 22 Jul 1996 03:15:16 +0000 Subject: Re: My poem/goodbye Liz wrote: > I won't hold the hair record for long....I am about to get it chopped >off!!!! yes! i will solely alone claim the title by default! of course, i probably won't keep mine much longer, either. at the very latest, i'll chop it early next year. it's been getting to be a pain lately. but i'll sell my hair and make some money to pay off my now inflated insurance. oh joy. :) eric :) ------------------------------ From: Eric Montas Date: Mon, 22 Jul 1996 03:15:29 +0000 Subject: Re: NJC: Someone finally posted my bail... dennis, thanks for clearing that up. sorry about inserting tom's name where it didn't belong. yes, you guys let us go under the provision of jack driving, but i was stupid, and talked him into letting me drive. go ahead and take my keys. i'll probably put up a fight, but after you beat some sense into me, i'll probably give 'em to you. :) thanks again for you concern and tongue lashing. i deserved it. We can all contact My. Harris to contribute. I also have began updating my Pieces of Jewel site (which apparently went down on Wednesday until today? Strange. I didn't do it!) with some more generalized Jewelstock for the community at large that may or may not be on the list. I got home today and spent the last ten hours working on it. There's probably about thirty-some photos up at this point now. I'm going to add comments, quotes and remarks to the setlist. I also will work on a sort of virtual tour of the venue and area. I took shots from about a dozen different points around the theatre so I have about all the views you'd have had if you were there. Anyway, I'm still developing it but the basics are there for those who haven't seen much of the wonderful two days. Oh, I stayed until Sunday morning and bumped into another celebrity Saturday. Christian Slater is filming a movie in the area. Has been there for two months. Around the Byrdcliffe place on a road to the north of 212. Hi everyone, What else can I say about the event of the century, that hasn't already been said? I was completely blown away by the whole event, that alot of the time I just sat back and watched everyone enjoying themselves. It was so exciting to see everybody. IMHO, the most amazing thing about JEWELSTOCK, was the fact that we all initially met each other on the internet, and then because of someone's suggestion (was it you Duff?), we ended up in a central meeting place that we all flocked to, to enjoy each others company, trade stories about out first exposure to our beloved angel, and to hear live, not one but two, of the most beautiful, soothing, melodic, mesmerising, singing voices to come from the heavens in a long time. I'm only sorry it had to end! For those of you who were there that I didn't have the pleasure of meeting, I was the tall skinny dude eating pizza in the fountain while the "Bearsville Beast" hungrily stared at me, hoping to get the leftovers, I guess! He did finally manage to get a few pieces of crust from me but that was it. My hat goes off to everyone that was involved in making JEWELSTOCK happen. There isn't enough words in the english dictionary that can express my gratitude for their efforts. Way to go gang! We have really got an excellent group of talented people on this list and it was a pleasure meeting all of you that were there. BTW: Who was responsible for the JEWELSTOCK posters that were being circulated at the time that JEWEL was signing autographs? I'm referring to the posters that had the JEWELSTOCK logo on them with the date printed on them. I would really like to have my own copy. This was my fourth time to see JEWEL in the last six months, and it looks like I will be seeing her again in Nashville, on the 16th of August. Is anyone else out there going to this show? If so, let me know and maybe we can meet at the show. This will be an especially cool show because it will just be her headlining which means a longer set. I can't wait! WOW! Five times in the last six months. I'm curious, what is the record for a list member of how many JEWEL shows they have actually seen in their lifetime? (twenty or thirty maybe?) Bye for now and keep on rockin! Not only does Jewel get an early return to Letterman, but I'll see her perform something other than "WWSYS" for the first time in months. Does this mean the radio and music networks will push "YWMFM" again? Will I FINALLY get to see Sean Penn's video? I'm noticing something weird here: "Who Will Save Your Soul," "You Were Meant For Me," "Angel Needs a Ride," Jewel's really got a thing for five-syllable song titles, don't she? Kind of like Steven Seagal's early three-word movie title trend (Steven Seagal is "Out for Justice!" Seagal is "Hard to Kill!" Seagal is "Above the Law!" Seagal can "Kiss My Ass!").
