Meeting everyone was great (Dan S, Eric, Jack, Greg D, Mark/Crunch, Steve I, Ken W, Tom P, Jon R, Lisa S and everyone else who's names escape me now) Here is the Thursday set-list - sort of, I forgot a lot of the songs and they are out of order... But here are the songs I remember: SOLO: Don't, 1000 Miles Away, Angel Needs A Ride, My Fish Family, His Pleasure Is My Pain, Louisa And Her Blue Guitar, Moon Over Austin (Hotel Angel), Studies In Love #12, The Cold Song, All The Animals, Jewel and her Mom singing that song written for that movie, Lenedra singing Little Bird WITH BAND: Satellitte, Carnivore, Fragile Heart (I know there were as least one more...) SOLO AGAIN: Tiny Love Spaces, Memoirs Of A Housewife, Fragile Flame, Innocence Maintained ENCORES SOLO: You're So Small, Sometimes It Be That Way, Amen, Nictine Love That's all I can remember... anyone else? I hope everyone had a great time, I'm sure they did... Take care, Kim "Angels who kiss the sun... He got really technical, but I'll try to give you a laid-back version: Basically, There is a songwriting technique called box writing. It has to do with chosing which chord to play after another... or something like that (it's been so long since I took music theory!). But alot of punk bands, most of the ones I listen to, as well as ska use the same technique. It was invented by folk guitarists. mIKEY ------------------------------ From: Sweetiedog@aol.com Date: Sat, 20 Jul 1996 14:58:21 -0400 Subject: ummm..hi? If you see her live you will fall hook line and sinker obsessed. I thought I was obsessed BEFORE the concerts....now I know better!! You will be left with this horrible feeling in the pit of your stomach when you get home and resort to pathetically listening to bootlegs over and over and over again. In fact I am listening to Rare Angels for the 4th time right now. DENNIS HARRIS- Thank you for getting everyone to scream last night!!!!!! I don't think she would have come back out!!!!! I am soooo depressed......I wonder if I can get tix to the Neil Young Concert in Columbus, OH......Maybe by then I will have a bat that says "Everyday Angels" and whack anyone who talks when our lovely Jewel is belting her heart out. Anyone want to join me??????? By the way....Akira's dream came true and his nose was tweaked...I was a witness. Hey Jewelstockers, I'm glad to read that everybody had a great time at the shows!! Jewel signing and having pictures taken after the show made it worth while for the people who came from far distances (California!!!). I really didn't talk to her after the Thursday show because I was inside the venue with Phil and Lisa counting Jewel shirts for Lenedra.....but I did get to hang with T-Bone and Marc. T-Bone plays with Hall and Oates.....and I go to all there shows, so he kinda knew me. "T, T, T, T -Bone"...right Lisa!! If you didn't get a chance to see the Friday show you missed out on a great effort by the crowd for more encores!! Dennis Harris (I'm proud to call him a friend) pretty much lead the last calling for Jewel. She had to catch a flight down to NYC. Well, we didn't let her go!! It felt like we were screaming for 10 minutes...as Dennis stood on his chair leading loud yells.....timed out perfectly!!! She did come out for a couple more songs and closed by taken a request. Me and Dennis shouted out 1000 Miles. We won the battle between that and Nicotine Love. I thanked her with a loud "YES" she looked over and replyed..."Harris brothers, right?!"....I guess you had to be there to understand the meaning behind the joke. Maybe Dennis and post that. Be looking for some great pictures from Jewelstock!!! Bill or by my new name Dogboy!! PS by the way where was everyone for the Saturday afternoon lunch with Jewel? Didn't we tell you guys about that?? Oh well......she had pepper staek and fried rice with us...Mike, Dennis, and me. ------------------------------ From: W1GGY2@aol.com Date: Sat, 20 Jul 1996 18:44:42 -0400 Subject: Still more on JS Hey, just thought I'd add my own memories.... It was great meeting all of you! The main mystery of my life has now been cleared up and I can live in peace and harmony - because I now know the true identities of Dean & Dennis Harris. I can also testify to the fact that they are in fact TWO seperate people indeed. (and please don't hold it against me for wearing an Anti-Harris button - it was the last one Dean had, I swear! To everyone wondering about the audio and video tapes, here is what I was told (by Akira & Dan, I think). They decided to tape the concert for possible use on the album. Therefore, the tape trees will have to be delayed because Lenedra doesn't want anything that may be on the album coming out beforehand. Dan said he suggested releasing the video with mono sound rather than stereo and she said she would consider it (do I have this right?). The upshot is...we'll all get it, we just don't know when. Kinda like death.... (sorry) My mom loved the concert, by the way. For those who don't know, it was her first time seeing OR HEARING Jewel. We were both blown away by Patty - her cover of "Crazy" was awesome. Thanks to Crunch for the PB&J sandwich, without which, I surely would have fainted long before the night was over. (To the guy wondering about the food we ate - that was about it!) Crunch, you're not the evil ogre that everyone has made you out to be. Although, really, you could have let us in a little sooner. Jewel made a comment that she hates "Racecar Driver" which surprised me. Jewel signed my copy of PoY and the WWSYS single - although one would be hard pressed to make out the signature. Why does it look like she's dotting an "i" toward the end? I wished I owned a guitar because she drew pictures on the ones she was given to sign. One final thing, on my way home Friday, it suddenly started to downpour for a couple of minutes. Immediately after, the sun was shining bright. I figured a rainbow was due, and as soon as I passed the mountain, there was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL rainbow I've ever seen. It looked like it was only about 10 feet away and I could see it from end to end. I pulled over and took a few pictures but I doubt they will show the true splendor. What a perfect way to end JewelStock! Dennis - I'll send you the pic's as soon as they're developed. Akira - please let me know what she thought of the guestbook. And thanks to everyone for being the angellic people you are! BTW, I'm having a party Saturday, July 27th - anyone in the Jersey City area is welcome.....Or if you'd like to make another cross-country trek : ) .... E-mail me if you want to come! Akira? Okay, I should probably leave you all to some much needed sleep, but some parting thoughts: *Soon you attendees will be going through a Post-JewelStock-Syndrome (PJ's), a condition caused from withdrawal of the concert and returning to everyday boring life. Symptoms include calling co-workers and/or family by the names of the list-members; you keep seeing Jewel out of the corner of your eye, when you turn to face her, she will still be just within your peripheral vision, the result: continued spinning (aka doing the Homer Simpson ) while you try to "catch up" to her; >>LEFT HANDED COWS<<; >>ORANGE CRICKETS<<. Of course, all the non-attendees have gone through some sort of variant of this strain, and have developed an immunity to it. So we'll be here to lean on.
