Name: Lauren Bond Age: 18, single College: Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA Intended major: Animal Behavior (I want to work outside, not in an office, and I wanna play with animals for a living :)) Interests: anything outdoors- horseback riding, rollerblading, camping, hiking, swimming, waterskiing, rapelling (only done it it once tho..) and I hope to learn how to snowski this winter, go spelunking, etc.. anything I can fit in/afford :). I play the guitar, write lotsa poetry, sing, go to parties, movies, etc, and I spend way too much time on the computer. that is, of course, because it takes me forever to catch up on the mailing list posts :) (BTW I am working on a web page, I will post the address when it is up.. it will include lotsa links and also my archive of tablature... it won't be TOO impressive, atleast at first, since this is my first attempt at HTML programming :)) Musical likes: alternative and classic rock mostly... My favorites are (in order, pretty much): Jewel, Lisa Loeb, Pink Floyd, Dishwalla, Jethro Tull, Soul Asylum, Frente, Live, the Beatles, Hum, Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, and Alanis. I also listen to alot of a cappella stuff (I was in my high school's BEST (yeah, yeah, and only :)) coed a cappella group run by my friend gia-ninh).... well, there ya go, more information than you ever wanted to know about me I know it's kinda pointless to give a bio since I can't go to JS, but I thought I'd write it anyway, since it's late and I'm bored and really tired :) bye! Lauren PS: There are some songs that I wanna learn on the guitar that I don't have the tab for... if anyone can help me, e-me okay? thanks! I am looking for: 1. Thanks to the misunderstood powers of the occult, I will be attending JewelStock after all! I found this tattered old book called "Satanic Rituals and Other Fun Games for Toddlers" in the basement of the library today and flipped through it during my break, my curious eyes coincidentally catching a chapter on "Out-Of-Body Travel." Well, I tried it out tonight and guess what? It didn't work at all! So instead I'll just use my fully developed powers of telekinesis to send an army of flying sponges to that big red barn over in New Yawk. They shall be my emissaries, fittingly nonsensical and completely pointless. And army of frisbees would have been more appropriate AND cooler, but I haven't mastered mental control of that physics nightmare known as The Flying Disc. So Miss Kilcher has no reason to be frightened, unless she had some severe sponge trauma as a young Mormon. Half my family is Mormon. The other half hates them. Fastest growing religion on the planet. I'm not afraid. Really. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I like "The Harris Brothers"*, a lot. Guess I'll never meet them either, but maybe we can exchange some chattiness over VampireNet. We oppressed monster-types must hang together if we are to prevent stereotypical trash such as "Nightbreed" from representing our culture. * The phrase "The Harris Brothers" is a copyrighted trademark and property of D. HARRIS, LTD. All future references in public posts should include this copyright notice. Failure to do so will result in online responses from D. Harris. Aaron Suever caught the only misinterpreted lyric I could find off of PoY (the "Senate" burglary), but Entertainment Weekly pointed one out from one of David Bowie's earliest songs which has forever ruined my impression of "Space Oddity." The real line goes "ground control to Major Tom," yet it can be misheard as "clown control to Mao Tse-tung." I suppose "reinvent your name" from "Absence of Fear" could be "circumvent your stain" but that doesn't make any sense. But that has never stopped me before so I wholeheartedly endorse the lyric change. Can anyone give me some summer fun ideas? Nothing is happening here, only exacerbating my shame for missing the cultural event of the year. Maybe I can hijack a P-3 from Moffett Air Field and make an impromptu and very loud appearance Thursday night. If I'm not shot down that is. And if I knew how to fly. Never mind. Maybe I'll take a look at that book again. - - Carter, Aerodynamic Wunderkind ------------------------------ From: Adam Longfellow Date: Wed, 17 Jul 96 05:15:38 -0500 Subject: Best wishes to all. I'm bringing some tapes. I got about ten done and ready for trading. Just look for me. I'll be wearing my nametag and blue ribbon (like that narrows it down!!) I look forward to meeting everyone. And another, let's make sure we don't separate into little gangs or something. Everyone mingle!! We should meet EVERYBODY! On another note, think of what we are doing. In contrast to the Internet supposedly making people withdraw or become less physically sociable, we are doing the opposite. Jewelstock is bringing hundreds of people together with a common love and passion. . . Truly human, not just an id. You are 18 or older. You parents could hav been anywhere from 20-30 years old when they had you. So on the low end they would be 38 and on the high end they would be 48? Which means they were born some time in the late '40's early '50's. Which would put them right in the middle of the '60's as teens. Maybe they didn't go to Woodstock but I'm sure they were groovy back then. I wonder what happened to them? Boy, this was the type of show you shouldn't have been denied. Maybe if you have them read this they'll put you in the car and drive you straight there. You still might have time. Then tell everyone your story and I'm sure a guest of the list will give you his spot. There are a few people who mentioned their guests aren't that in to it. ------------------------------ From: Chopped Liver Date: Wed, 17 Jul 1996 06:13:12 -0600 (MDT) Subject: Re: Cynics annonymous On Tue, 16 Jul 1996 W1GGY2@aol.com wrote: > >So I'm wondering, how many other Jewel fans are cynics, because > I'm officially "out"ing myself here.
