Answer: "...the new Jewel album. Its different I'm hooked." Before you go hard on her for the 'new' it is interesting to note that there seems to be a resurgance of sales for the 2 year old Brownie Mary album 'That's Me' so 'new is most definitely a relative matter. Anyone not going to JS and finding time on their hands this week who would like to talk about recommended female fronted bands in general (or Brownie Mary) please contact me off list. Traveling Angels, As many of you all are leaving tomorrow: I just want to say I am looking very much forward to meeting all of you Thursday and Friday, as I am sure all of you looking forward to meeting all of us. (I think it's over 200 list members out of what..the high 500's...not too shabby....but I sure wish those other 300 could be there) Anyway, I also want to say please drive safely, take your time in getting there, enjoy the drive, enjoy the scenery, write down the call letters of any radio station still blasting Jewel for the Alaska State fair thing and report them to the list, and WEAR THOSE SEAT BELTS!!! (Sinjin will be on Seat Belt Check Duty at the parking lot entrance) For those of you flying, beware the shrimp salad sandwiches on US AIR, you won't recover until Sunday, trust me. Also, fly safely, enjoy the flight, enjoy the scenery, write down the ID numbers of all stewardesses who do not know who Jewel is, and WEAR THOSE SEAT BELTS!!! (Sinjin MAY be on a flight with YOU, he IS flying in) Seriously, let's ALL get there in one piece and back home afterwards without opening up even a bandaid. I opened it up last night and nothing jumped out at me and it didn't stink (there was an old department store ad in there from '94, advertising their Labor Day sale...) e-mail me privately if interested, I'm bringing it anyway. After the Jewel lookalike contest, how about a Dean & Dennis Harris lookalike contest. Of course, very few of us actually know what they look like, so, in an unusual twist for a lookalike contest, we can compete for how we imagine they SHOULD look. Judging, you say, would be darn near impossible? Details, just details.... I dont mean like rare angels. There's a discography in the FAQ. There are the "officially released" but hard to get songs from the radio promo EPs "Save The Linoleum" and "Phyllis Barnabee Finally Gets A Bra". "Angel Needs A Ride" appeared on a local music compilation CD called "Saint Doug", released by radio station 91X in San Diego in 1994. Jewel had a self-released cassette called "Shiva Diva Doo Wop", also in '94. The songs from all of the above are on Rare Angels, which was put together mainly because those releases are all so hard to get. She also has a song on the soundtrack to The Frisbee Kid. (just kidding...there are no other soundtrack songs...yet). My first exposure to Ms. Kilcher was her singing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". She's does a wonderful job in a really good production of the classic musical! Someone wrote: >so far the front row is gonna be a battle between The Harris Brothers, Liz, Selena, the oldest and the furthest travelled VS. everyone else.< We're all in this together. Okay, I confess I DID leap over drummer Danny Frankel from a dead standstill to head Jewel off, but I was just trying to keep Kyle from bugging her at the bus! And to save her from the woman from Homer, Alaska, who got to her first. (Honest.) Our group luck wasn't any better at the Borders Bookstore appearance before the show, where some fairweather fans who came in LATE got to catch Jewel at a side door while we hung around waiting for her.
