As I eagerly await JewelStock next week, I thought I'd share some random thoughts. 1. I checked my Dave Matthews Band album, and Paul was indeed correct - It was recorded at the Bearsville Theatre. I am even more excited now than I was before (didn't think this was possible, eh?) 2. I checked this month's Esquire Magazine (the women we love) and saw Jewel's name listed under Women who Rock Us Gently. I seem to remember a while back, that Hiranya said that Jewel was doing a photo layout for this issue, and we would see nice pictures of her in an evening gown. Am I hallucinating or was the plan changed? Anyone? Hiranya? 3. About the off-topic posts: I appreciate people's quirks and often enjoy their stories even if they are a *little* off topic, but some of the posts have been pretty rediculous recently. I don't believe that there should be any formal rules, but I would suggest that everyone use their best judgement before posting. Please remember that some of us use our accounts for business and get swamped with hundreds of messages a day from mailing lists, business and friends. Please don't post a message if you have nothing to say, just because you are bored. Some of us are actually busy! : ) 4. If you are interested in meeting me on Wed. or Thurs. I am staying at The Pinecrest Lodge. I am 5'8" and people seem to think that I look like Jerry Seinfeld (people have actually come up to me in restaurants and asked for autographs!) Anyway, that's enough of your time for now. See you next week! Not just things about rape and violence, but everything. Soon I ranked on her because she couldn't just listne to the music, as she might not get the written meaning (look at tori's, "So you can make me CM," line which would sound like the other COME and would also fit) but she would have to read and disect everything. (That sentence is not correct english, but I can't delete.) Which one of us would support someting like that? Probably not one and yet we want to pick through all the mail and decide what is appropriate. I agree that the volume is kind of large but there is really no way of telling people not to post what they want. I mean if 50 ft. aliens are invading Mike's mind (which I am not sure they aren't) I want to hear about it. If Sinjin had a strange accident where he got a little overzealous with the frisbee and decappated someone I think we should no. After all, we should right get well cards to the poor chap... The other day I had a thought of the day about the Go-go's in a jewel-related post, how long is it going to be before that is innapropriatte too? Can't we all just get along... The post man is doing a strange thing out side my window as i write this and I just thought I'd include it because this whole thing has been non-music anyway... Thought of the day: (It's a Jewel part) If we are to believe the press Jewel is on the cusp of "finally" getting hard-core fans. Doesn't she already have someof those? :) Peace, cj ------------------------------ From: Victor Igor Wasylczenko Date: Sat, 13 Jul 1996 14:05:08 -0700 Subject: Travel Advice Regardless of not being the oldest(2nd oldest maybe)I would like to reach out with some heartfelt advice. I have driven between San Diego and NYC 27 times. Most of the trips were made alone. My trips have taken me at last count to 44 states. I am not a professional driver, I just love driving instead of flying. Six years of my life were spent commuting by plane to my office in NJ from CA. It has taken me any were from 2.5 days to 4 days to make the trip. My record for driving and not sleeping is 50 hrs. This is the last thing that you should do. Most of the deadly accidents are caused by tired drivers falling a sleep at the wheel. 1.If possible, drive with someone, even if they don't share the driving time. 2.Drinking a lot of coffee may hurt more than help. Coffee acts as a stimulant and will keep you awake for a while. What happens is you try to follow up with more coffee as you get tired and you get hyper-stimulated. The curve of coming done is very different from going up. The drop is fast and sudden and can result in falling asleep at the wheel. 3.What helps is drinking lots of water and nibbling on fresh raw fruits and vegetables as you drive. The fruits and veggies slowly release sugars into your bloodstream and will give you energy and keep you alert. The water will help flush toxins that build up in your body as sit for long times. 4.Do not use any other stimulants, legal or otherwise. 5.Try to stop at least for 5 min. for every hour of driving time. Get out of the car for a short walk and stretch. Good time to get rid of those toxins as well. Tie the stops to fuel, food, and toilet stops. You will find that this will not effect your overall time and will make for a safer drive. 6.If you get tired, stop right away. Go to a well lit place with plenty of other people around if you need to stop. Some of the reststops along the Interstate highways are dangerous. If you have to stop on the highway, make sure you are far off the road and in a spot where you can be seen. A 10-15 minute snooze helps a whole lot. 7.Have a helluva great time at Jewelstock. I was planning on going until I got the worst news of my life about a family member. He is going to have to fight for his life and I need to be there to help and support him. Fortunately, I will be in the company of an attractive teenage girl whose long hair's color will depend on the whim of the moment (currently green and purple) and who will be exhibiting a few somewhat-exotic body piercings. It's totally unpredictable what we'll be wearing, but if it's hot you can bet on shorts and maybe T-shirts with odd artwork. We're currently fighting over who wears (my) "I'm Sensitive" T-shirt.
