Angels, I just got off the phone with Akira, he's having the thunderstorms of a lifetime there in Jersey tonight. He wanted me to post that he's sent out MOST of the RSVP confirmations so far, and only has a handful left. So, if you have not heard from him confirmation-wise by, say 11pm Eastern time Tuesday night, EMAIL him and tell him so. You never know when an EMAIL gets cyber-napped. Also, for those of you that have already visited the JewelStock Web Site prior to today, just this afternoon we put up on the site some new pictures showing the road area near the venue..."where-to-go's", "where-NOT-to-go's", "oops-you've-gone-too-fars" and the like. We'll be adding a bit more schtuff as the week goes on, so check it occasionally. We are working on putting RSVP confirmations on the site, but it does not appear to be as easy as we had wished. Time will tell. Looking forward to meeting those of you going, Mike Connell - -- |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | | | JewelStock Online is at | | | | http://www.theartof.com/jewelstock | | | | username = angel | | password = racecar | | | |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| ------------------------------ From: Piglet Date: Mon, 08 Jul 1996 22:40:01 +0600 Subject: the coup of the Jewel mailing list with all of this fuss over what is and what is not to be posted on this mailing list, all I have to say is why is it coming up now? I've been on this list for quite awhile, don't know exactly how long, and when I first longed on there were several non-Jewel related strings going on. One was posting of individuals writings, now I know posting a story or something would be wrong, I to had a 14-4 modem once upon a time and now how that was, but a short little poem. I loved hearing from Patty and the Poem lady (don't know where they wen't) and hearing about Heidi's adventures in writing. Then there was the much beneficial hi my name is... string that I think brought us all closer together. I have belong on several other musical lists and a couple non-musical ones also. I have since dropped down to just the Jewel mailer for only a few reasons. The other musical mailing lists I was on, were either very dry and anti-newcomer or had maybe a dozen posts a week. The one non-musical list I belong to had a mechanical scanner that if it did not pick up key words bounced your mail back to you with out posting it and had a really annoying message. I was tempted to not post this "piece of non-Jewel material" for fear of adding to the anger, but then I started to think of what this list means to me and I will not let this one dry up. I like to feel that even if, God-forbid, something were to happen to Jewel or that she decided on a major career change that this list could continue on. Sure she is the backbone of the list, but we all have our own little ones that the list borrows to help keep it going during slow times. I don't know what to say about the newsgroup or list. Except that if you look at the newsgroups for musicians half are dead and the others are full of spam and stuff about other musicians, God forbid we get a string like "Has anyone seen Jewels breast" like the one that ran forever in several groups about Alanis, and Iknow I would hate to see doctored pictures of Jewel that were lets say unflatering like I have also seen beeing posted in alt.fan groups. The news mailing list might be a good idea, leaving this one to be a discusion list. well thats all for my rant today, I know I post alot to the list and if you want me to slow down, or get serious send it private. Although a password is needed to gain access to the main page, someone can see the sub-pages (FAQ, Angel Needs a Ride, etc) without this password. My worry is that if a web searcher indexes any of these pages their addresses will be available to anyone and we might get some party crashers. Although we have taken the proper security to eliminate such outlaws with our Frisbee Forces, it is better to prevent a conflict than to triumph in it. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ \ ***This is a test of*** / / J -THE EMERGENCY BROADCAST SINJIN- R \ \ E U / / W "Besides, what would I say L \ \ E if I had you online?" No one gets thru the door Thursday unless we have their name anyway, so I not be worried. As far as Friday goes, the townspeople will have tickets, and we have the the list members and guests names, so that's not a worry neither. However just to be safe, Sinjin, bring the Stealth W-35a Frisbee with you. I know that people are camping out for Jewelstock, I was just wondering where. Which of the campgrounds is everybody staying at? I'm not sure which I will try for, I figure the one with the most Angels will be my best bet. On another, much less important note, I saw "Independence Day" after class today. I have to say that I was not exactly thrilled with it. The effects were quite interesting but the story could have used a LOT of work, and the casting could have been better. Jeff Goldblum has been much overplayed in the role of funky scientist. And much as I like Wil Smith's old albums, he is just not fit for the role of hot-dog Marine Corps pilot. And then on top of that, there was the incessantly corny dialogue (one liners like "whup E.T.'s ass" and "welcome to Earth" were pathetically out of place; remember that these aliens have just wiped out the majority of the free-world). Basically, I liked "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" better. Was it not the best Disney movie to-date (just edging out "Fantasia")? Anyway, I will allow all of you well meaning Everyday Angels get back to your business, and thank you for taking the time to read this. Good night.
