Please note that it is still incomplete and will be under construction for the next few days. Most of the info there has already been published on this list, the one major difference is there's alot more info on camping, lodging etc (that being under "JewelStock Directions".....that extra info will be put on the mailing-list tonight also for the benefit of those unable to get to the web site....ALL info [except scanned photos/maps] will be on BOTH for the very same reason. The FAQ's are still under modification too, and will be updated and enhanced later today.....gotta lotta (gotta lotta????) new info from Hiranya and Lenedra yesterday. Also please note that the two scanned maps were done by me on a crude scanner that.......well you'll see the d*mn things, they just look like sh*t. I sent the originals to Dennis Harris via Pony Express along with photos of the venue and photos of where-to-go's where-to-NOT-gos' and turn-here's so those scanned maps will improve dramatically by Monday night. Please note that the intent of this site is an information center, look there first for the answers to any questions you may have, and if they still go unanswered feel free to EMAIL Akira (RSVP questions, some general questions) or me for most questions. By the end of the weekend, the updated FAQ and "latest news" should handle most questions. The URL, username and password for the site is below. They started at 4am (Pacific?) Thursday with ABBA and at 4 am Friday they were up to The Eagles. So they should be up to Jewel (loud whirring for mathematical computations--smoke--uh oh) around Saturday, which would put them way behind schedule to finish but who knows. I only get vh1 12 hours per day (4am to 4pm) so I'm hoping it will be when I have it since I've never seen the video. And there's no way for me to tape it (very old VCR's didn't have channels up to 44-old tech :-( and i've got three of them (two of which barely work-so no dubbing) Anyone on the east coast who can see this before me, could you please email me if it comes on. I check my email regularly during these early morning hours and if they have the usual timing like for MTV, I could have some advance warning. Maybe you could get the digest(s) from then and start from there. Of course I don't remember exactly when it was or what the subject line was... so it might take some digging. In any case, I'd like to her her do almost anything by Bruce Springsteen, maybe "Adam Raised a Cain" or "My Hometown". I also wouldn't mind hearing her rendition of "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley (hmmm... wonder if she's an Elvis fan at all). And I think she'd do "Hey Hey Good Lookin'" by Hank Williams pretty good. Who am I kidding, any damn cover she did would be as good as or better than the original artist. :) Dean Harris ------------------------------ From: Dean Date: Fri, 05 Jul 96 08:43:24 EST Subject: Re: Rugburns (no Jewel content) On Thu, 04 Jul 1996 20:47:53 GMT you said: >I bought the Rugburns Cd _Taking the World by Donkey_ yesterday, and I >noticed they have two songs at the end that aren't listed on the album >cover, does anyone know what the names of these songs are? I've noticed a lot of "I saw Jewel on this TV show or in this movie" postings lately, so it naturally triggered my 'Watch out for Jewel' mentality for whatever I was doing, whether it was watching Jerry Springer or old 80's re-run B-movies. So naturally, I was surprised when I thought I spotted Jewel in Spy Hard( you know, Leslie Nielsen's latest masterpiece). If you've seen it, you might remember the scene where they're in the convent and Nielsen (Agent Dick Steel, aka WD-40) is rescueing the lady from the convent. As he pushes the gurney into the hallway, there's this nurse standing there in all white, and I swear, she looks JUST like Jewel. Of course, I can't be sure (if by some miracle the world's greatest actor and the world's greatest singer were both in the same movie, my reaction would be somewhat similar to implosion), so I'm assuming it wasn't. But, hey, a guy can dream, can't he? So, if you haven't seen Spy Hard yet, I thoroughly recommend it - -- it was so good, I saw it twice (of course, it's still not as good as Airplane! or The Naked Gun, but hey...). And if you do go, be on the lookout! (Maybe stay for the credits and see if by chance it IS her). -jeff - -- **************************** Thanks for conversing with me. I get bored. A fetus gets a shock of electricity from a lightening bolt (or something) that hits his mother and becomes super-human, like Travolta in "Phen."--except he's younger and a little more bluish in skin tone. He can do amazing things too, like transfer the pain from a shot dear onto a human. This one's a little more serious though...not as "Hollywood" as "Phenomenon", I think. I have only seen previews for both of these movies, so i guess that I'm not the best one to answer this, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
