I really like hearing covers so I thought it might be good if we request covers now so Jewel would have time to learn them. Maybe just one song that we all decide on. We could set up a voting thing. I know that this might be asking too much from Jewel, and if it is then forget the idea. I am more than happy just to see her play. I get chills down my spine everytime I think about JewelStock. I have even had a few JewelStock dreams. If you think this is a good idea then say so. I could even run the voting thing. We need some songs to choose from though. I personally would really like to hear her do something that is different from what she normally does, not that I don't like what she normally does. I was thinking either "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (U2) or "Everybody Hurts" (REM). Maybe even a song that I heard 10,000 Maniacs do. I forget who wrote it but it is called "Let the Mystery Be". Rich Melko rwm126@psu.edu ################################# Jerry - You're Crazy. Kramer - Am I? I have info on > the recordings of it. etc. But, my question is, _WhaT_ is Jewelstock? OK, here goes. In response to a list members request, Jewel agreed to give a private show/concert for members of this mailing list. Lenedra and Jewel via Hiranya made a post about it on Thursday June 6th and the list has not been the same since. One of Hiranya's stipulations was that the list members had to pretty much handle all the arrangements. A few of us stepped forward to do just that. As it turns out, many of the arrangements were handled by Lenedra, but us organizers still had and have puhlenty to do. It is sort of a private party/concert for the members of this list (and selected guests) that can make it. It is being held near where she is recording her next HIT album/CD. It is not open to the general public and it is free. (the second show IS partially open to the public and is not free, more on that in the Web Site...see below) All of this and other stuff on the show(s) can be found on the new JewelStock Web Site which will be unveiled in the next 36 hours. It, as most new sites, will be in the first draft/building stage, but it will eventually (hopefully) answer all questions about the event. Any questions not answered can be directed to Akira and I. One last note, anything put on the Web Site will also be posted on this list. We realize that some subscibers to this list have lousy web browsers (AOL...no matter what AOL claims, it still stinks to high heaven....... compuserve, etc) and will not be able to reliably get to the site. So fear not, the list will remain a source of information on the event. For you newbies and others not in the know, Hiranya works for Jewel's mother/manager Lenedra and has been the official point of key information on this list since...well, I'm not sure but I'm sure for quite a while.... Here it is, un-edited: "Mike, One rule to stress: Please ask people to not try to find the studio. If a lot of people show up there it will really annoy the studio and make them dis-inclined to cooperate for this kind of thing. The studio doesn't have any windows and is very secure so there isn't anything to see anyway Lenedra says. Any ruckus would end up disturbing Jewel's recording time which would be bum. Jewel has assured everybody that she had the best fans on earth who aren't rude and disruptive so she went out on a limb to convince them to allow it. But we should remember that weirdness will reflect back on Jewel." nuff said, Mike Connell I will re-post this periodically ------------------------------ From: hendrick@ece.ucsd.edu (W. It's really beginning to show that Jewel's success has not come without an amazing amount of work & dedication. Keep those additions & corrections coming. Also no-one has yet answered my question as to when & where did Jewel do support sets with Bob Dylan during 1995. I know it was prior to August of 95 but would appreciate exact info. Thanks. Finally, I'd just like to say you are all going to LOVE the upcoming tree tape (of the 2nd band gig plus the Dylan/Jewel duet from Providence).
