So I thought I'd share this little story on how we can all help Jewel sell records. I was at the beach Thursday and I got sick of WBCN. My tape of the Boston show happened to be in my boombox so I decided to listen to it. During "Love Me Just Leave Me Alone" I had two people ask me who it was singing. I also had a person ask me who it was during "Sometimes It Be That Way." They were all suitably impressed, and one women (who was about fifty) said she never heard of Jewel but was glad to see young people (I'm 23) not listening to garbage (I assume she meant modern music in general not the band "Garbage".) Another kid (a boy about fifteen or sixteen) was impressed enough he sat around for the rest of the tape and asked me "Does she have an album?" When I stared at him and told him yes it's been out for a over a year he said he had to get it. That's how we can all help Jewel sell one record at a time. All you have to do is play the music and her talent sells it. Just thought I'd share that with you. pjk ------------------------------ From: jeth@damien.edu (Jeth) Date: Sat, 29 Jun 1996 06:09:43 -1000 Subject: Hello, any one out there?!? Okay here I go...I remember in a message that VH1 was having some sort of marathon with the possibility of Jewel's videos appearing. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Since it probably has occured on the East Coast, I was wondering if I can have a correspondent from there to mail me every time her video shows up. I guess everything from where I'm at is tape delayed (anyone else on this list from HI?) so if I get notified ahead of time I can set my VCR or not waste my time just sitting there waiting, I mean, experiencing and exposing myself to culture...c'mon there's a box of chocholates in it for you. It'll be great, it'll be like you're psychic or something. You can write down messages like "WWSYS will be on in six hours. Exactly." Let's test it out.
