Okay, this is supposed to be a gift from Jewel to her supporters on the Jewel email list as a way of thanking them for their support and promotion of her music. It is meant to exclude those not on the list. Not in a mean way, but because Jewel wanted to reward those on the list specifically. This is her wish and we are obliging her enthusiastically. We have discussed publicity and concluded that it would be after the fact. No, no, no ,no ,no no!!!!! It IS NOT our place to contact the media on this. If that is to be done, it will be thru Jewel's management, not us. This is a relatively small concert/"private party" for the list members, not the general public. Jewel is doing this to show her appreciation to this list. The general public not on the internet have all the other concerts to go to. She wants this to be a special show for the list fans she considers special. That's pretty much what Hiranya and Lenedra said. No, don't get me wrong... Jewel herself wasn't in Iceland but I just like to share this with you: - -I've been bugging record stores ever since I first heard Jewel about when her album comes to Iceland (I'm getting it tomorrow though through mail from a very very dear friend of mine in the USA!) - - "Who's Jewel?" I'm usually asked, I love being ahead of them, because I know Jewel will be known here in few weeks or months! But I've also asked about the soundtrack from "Craft" where "Under the water" is from... and "no"... it's not on our lists... So therefore, I think I can proudly say, that I'm the first one in Iceland to be a true Jewel-fan! I've been playing the tape I have for some of my friends and some like it, some don't... I just look forward to the time when she'll be known here... I'm sure she will. I bought the July issue of US today and I thought it was strange of Jewel to say she didn't think her album (Pieces of you) was good. She's more certain that her next one will be better and that all the sales (Gold = 500.000 copies??) are because of her touring, not because the album is good!! Well, I find it the greatest and I haven't seen her touring, so... - - well I've rambled enough. I envy all those going to Jewelstock. Have fun and send good thoughts to the island called Iceland... I forgot to add this in my introduction last week, and I just remembered it due to the post about Jewelstock and MTV (Mainstream Television Viewed by Simpletons) -- I HATE MTV WITH EVERY FRAGMENT OF MY BEING!!!!!!! MTV is the classic example of a supposedly alternative and anti-establishment organization that is completely sold out to the gargantuan corporation which controls it and nearly everything else in the Western world. I cannot fathom something more obscene than Tabitha Soren standing in front of the stage, with some of the complete morons from "Singled Out" and the "Spring Break" shows gyrating in front of the stage. I remember fondly the days of my youth when MTV actually used to play music videos, before it was taken up by 24-7 idiocy (well, maybe except for WWSYS and Aeon Flux.) In fact, coming in contact with an individual who has actually appeared on "Singled Out" would strongly tempt me to ignore the Judeo-Christian ethic of "Thou Shalt do no murder." Wait....I have an idea! While we invite MTV, why don't we make it a complete debacle and invite McDonald's to be the corporate sponsor....Yeah, maybe Jewel could be on a television commercial! -- Excuse me, I need to go take some 'ludes now. I'm just not sure what i would pursue and how i would do it. I don't have the guts either. Just something to keep in mind next time you see someone different from you. I keep imagining it outside. I see a small stage with a pine forest in the background and a silver shining lake on the right. I see about 700 people, many of them behind me, staring intently under a starlit sky. The moon hanging in the night as a reminder that we are on earth and not in heaven, eventhough it may seem that way. I see some with tears during those teary type songs and some that laugh at "My Own Private God's Gift to Women". Everyone is so uniquely individual, since individuality is so unique anymore, coming together, sharing, laughing, loving the world and all it's splender on a night that will live for as long as we do. I also keep seeing this weird image of Jewel sitting on a chair, like Santa at the mall, as we all stand in line to meet her and tell her our thoughts. I don't expect to meet her or anything or feel a burning desire to, OK maybe a little, but I can't get this image out of my head. I see people talking about hotel rooms. I keep imagining all of us camping out. I always loved camping out when I was a kid. Once again I have this image of all of us in a field, a few big bonfires, and about 300 tents. Each fire surrounded by smiling faces, talking about how great the show was and how we have to get together like this next year. Marshmallows a-roasting and hot dogs a-sizziling. If anyone is poor like me and was planning on saving themselves about 30 dollars by camping out I am up for it. I can't camp out by myself because that would be stupid so if anyone wants to share a room, please let me know. I am not really that poor but I am a little thrifty since I spent over 3,000 dollars last year with no income, which leaves me with about 500 dollars in the bank. I think maybe I should check to see if I can get two days off of work first. Rich Melko rwm126@psu.edu ################################# Jerry - You're Crazy. Kramer - Am I? I guess that Neile Graham and Neal Copperman probably already know about it. Anyone know of any other oldtimers who left who would be great to have at Jewelstock and deserve to be there?
