Also wondering how many out there mainly listen to their boots and not the CD, me I havn't listened to the POY in a long time, but am constantly shuffling my few boots in the tape player and in the car. Find them so much more true to what I know of Jewel. Also IMHO the songs are excedingly better, esp rare angels (many hugs to Neile where every you are for making a copy for me and the boys). Listening to the boots, I wonder if there is a story behind Racecar Driver and My Own Private Gift to Women. Is it a personal experience or more like Daddy, in that it is based off something she heard about from a friend. What happened to the Poem Lady, Silver Cat (still waiting for your stories), Heidi, and Angel? did they sign off for the summer...I really miss the poems and hearing about Angel's band and life in Puerto Rico (Jewel World tour 1997 coming to a cafe near you). Anyone see the movie Crossing Guard, its not out on tape yet, well not here yet. Saw a preview of it and it looked really good--well isn't Jack good in all of his films. Ummm...I think thats it oh ya I wanted to tell everyone about how 'Zilla got his kitty, well I know some of you out there like to hear about their adventures. Well if you remember back awhile ago Rachel offered up some kitties to the ML. So I asked if there were any male calicos, see I'm a bio major (Jennifer you still out there, any luck getting a better job) and in genetics we learned how that is a very hard combination to get cause the kitty has to have two X chromosomes to be calico and to be male he has to be XXY which is hard to do. Anyways turns out she does and I said I could give him a good home, so she packed him up UPS style and overnight I get this wet meowing package. Whe after opening it up the boys, Fuzzy and 'Zilla see what it is. Fuzzy, well he's just jealous because, once cleaned, the kitty is much fuzzier than he is, but some good homemade vanella icecream fixed that. 'Zilla well he grabs the kitty, a big feat considering his forearms are kinda small, and takes off. Find him later hiding in the bathroom, he likes to be near water, with the kitty purring in his lap. So now 'Zilla has his own little companion, and I've never been quite sure of what sex he is anyways so it could be some mothering instinct kicking in. Dear Angels, All of the Organizers of JewelStock have agreed that whenever they post to the list an EMAIL that has anything to do with JewelStock, that they will put JEWELSTOCK (all in capitals) somewhere in the subject. While most of you have been doing it anyway, I would like to suggest to all of the rest of you, if you post to the list that has ANYTHING to do with JewelStock, or EMAIL an organizer privately on the same topic, put Jewelstock (mostly lower case!!!) in the subject, unless of course you just click respond, then we'll ger the ol' "RE: JEWELSTOCK..." in the subject. The reason for this is simple, they will then "stick out" in both the digests and the regular list. This will also help out Lenedra (who will be online starting maybe tomorrow) and Hiranya (who may be back online soon), as they don't get on too often, and it will make it MUCH easier for them to keep tabs on our posts about JewelStock, not to mention that it will make it much easier for all of us. Weird! For your sake I hope everyone on this list >> are decent people and there are no sick, twisted perverts. I'd hate to see >> a fellow (albeit young) Everyday Angel get into trouble. >> >> Dean Harris > >Very decent of you. My exact thoughts. Good to see other people on this >list with street smarts. Spoken like a true parent! In other words, you and Dean are saying that Mr. "God's Gift to Women" (or one of his cronies) could be lurking on this list. (I'm sure most people on this list should know the story behind that song, but for those who don't, it's about an encounter with a not-so-nice man Jewel had while hitchhiking in San Diego.) Don't you hate it when realists like Dean and Igor spoil the party? But I'll add my voice to the theirs. Be careful out there, folks. Just because someone out there likes the same music you do, even Jewel's, doesn't mean that s/he is a good person. So far the people I've met through this list and others have been mostly great, but you really have to watch out for those exceptions. It would be nice to think that the Jewel list is an idyllic community where everyone is a nice person, but the reality unfortunately is that not everyone is. By the way Igor, your story about how you touched that man's life was a touching one. Thanks for sharing! - ---------------- On another, rather depressing note, the newly-revealed Jewelstock dates fall squarely between 2 other concerts I already have tickets for that week, Dead Can Dance and Sarah McLachlan. Both are great seats, too. I am *so* torn... I really want to meet you all, but it's rather an expensive commitment in terms of time and money for a poor graduate student trying to get his thesis done, not to mention missing DCD or Sarah. - ---------------- On a lighter note... Frisbees have been getting a bad rap on this list lately. But as an avid Ultimate Frisbee player (and a member of the powerful frisbee lobby group ;-) ) let me remind you all that frisbees don't hit people and make them walk off the stage; people do. :-) Remember, a frisbee is only a tool, and can be used for good as well as evil. As an Ultimate Frisbee player, I offer my services to Jewelstock organizers as "Frisbee bodyguard" for Jewel. I pledge to hurl my body in the path of any incoming discs, if Jewel is threatened. And then of course I will introduce the would-be assassin to the wonders of a game called "Murder Frisbee." :-) Steve - ----------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Ito, | "Life is pain, Highness.
