And, although most of us know this already, some other interesting info for the uninitiated: she has said she didn't really intend to shorten her name to just Jewel (like Madonna etc.), but it fit better on the album cover, and now she's stuck with it. ------------------------------ From: Dan Stark Date: Wed, 19 Jun 1996 17:35:33 -0400 Subject: Re: Genuine Jewel Poetry Aaron wrote: > > >Hey, Dan > This one was on Save The Linoleum, right? I was the News Editor and the Ed-in-Chief, the Managing Editor, and the Features Editor were my best friends. The chief, managing, and I did most of the work on the paper, often staying cooped up in our little concrete room that was an office until 9 pm during crunchtime (and that was pretty late for a school night) several days a week. When you're working your butt off to meet deadlines and yer laying out pages and trying to decide what to headline an article, you really get goofy. Sometimes you throw around some serious ideas, but often times you banter cheesy titles with warped cliches, just cause they're funny. And they do seem funny at the time. Watch the movie "The Paper" with Michael Keaton, Glenn Close, Marisa Tomei, Randy Quaid, and Robert Duvall. It is hilarious and shows you how screwy some newspeople are. They say something to the effect that they print a headline because they think it's funny.
