Gives me a better "feel" of the Jewel experience. Oh, about her following the "class of two" (imagine being salutorian and LAST in your class?), well, while I was unhappy about Jewel's airtime and lack of interview also, it sure beat the treatment she got on Dave Letterman on 4/22, I mean, on that night she had to follow Nick Price chipping into that vat of junk from Wahoo, and also the Joan Lunden bake-off if you remember. "Up and coming" singers only get singing time on these shows I guess, that's why we have to relish the shows like "Lauren Hutton and" where the guest is the only guest. Well, I'm back from vacation in Virginia and although the weather sucked for most of the week, I still had a blast! I've got a load of stuff to catch up on now that I'm back(work,laundry,etc...), but I'm gonna try to get back to everyone I'm (potentially) trading with as soon as possible. Now, I have all the digests for the rust-tribe, but if some kind soul could forward me the last week+ of nancies digests (from Friday the 25th thru today) or at least any important info that may have come up in the last week, I'd really appreciate it! =) Next point, while in VA Beach I managed to catch a couple live performances. Tuesday the 28th I was at the Bayou and saw the "Killroos". They played mostly cover songs (to be expected in a night club I guess) but they sounded excellent on all of them! Really good band as far as I could tell. So, I'm wondering, does anybody out there know anything more about them? I assume they must have their own material since they mentioned a cd coming out in December under Geffen Records. I'd love to hear from anyone who has any thoughts on the band. Thursday was my lucky day and probably the best night of the trip because I managed to catch Jewel at the Abyss. WOW! She was incredible!!! I had heard people talking about her, saying to check her out but I had only heard her single prior to this. Glad I listened to everybody because she really wailed! What an incredibly powerful voice she has! Gave me goosebumps a couple times listening to her. Anybody else happen to catch the show? Anybody have any Jewel boots they'd like to trade? (I don't have any Jewel, but I've got a bunch of other stuff and getting some Jewel boots just became a priority ...went out and got the cd the next day!) Well, that's about it for me, I don't want to go on for too long and piss people off.....;) Hope to hear from some of ya soon! If this is true, I think we may be rushing things a bit. We should give the artists out there some time to work on designs. While I'm not an artist and probably never will be, I'm sure a real good design of anything, even a t-shirt, isn't a quick process. I know! Some of you will be seeing an upcoming show and want to be the first to have Jewel see you in the new shirt. But I don't think you want her to see you in a poorly designed shirt. Besides, Jewel will be going into the studio soon to work on her next album. This probably means she won't be touring as much. I'm guessing we have some time to get this done right before her next big tour comes around. That being said, I'll throw out another idea. At first I said we should put a picture of Jewel on the shirt. I think I have changed my mind (maybe). It might be better to have one of you bright artist types design a characature (sp) of Jewel. This solves a couple things. First, we don't run the risk of putting a picture of Jewel on the shirt that she doesn't like. Although I like them all, so she should too. :) Second, we wouldn't have any legal issues with using a picture of Jewel that may be "owned" by some magazine or something. Besides, if done respectful and all I rather like charactures (someone help me spell that damn word). Also, I don't think we would want to put the address Jewel@smoe.org on the shirts. This is the address we all know because we're on the list. We don't want people sending crazy ass messages to the list simply because they "saw the address on a shirt". We could put the address used to sign up to the list instead, which I think is jewel_request@smoe.org. I can't remember since I've been on quite a while. As far as my preferences: I'm kinda partial to the jade/emerald green for color. I'd like just a basic t-shirt without ringers. Maybe it could be a three button coller. I'd even like a pocket. We have to have a place for our pen when we meet her and get an autograph. :) I think I've wasted enough time here for now. I really hope this comes together though. Man... didn't mean to get carried away. Sorry. Later all. Dean Harris ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V1 #246 ***************************
