Jewel Kilcher digs us insane lip-synchers! There is still plenty of time left in the tour for all the rest of you to memorize every single song Jewel is likely to sing at her shows. You too can get your own personalized wink, but supplies are limited so hurry! On the other hand, you have different fingers. OK, there's my Steven Wright joke for the day. But really, on the other hand, if Jewel notices she has a sea of people Milli Vanillizing her, will she take pride in the love for her songs, or will she run screaming from the stage and move to Bermuda? Besides she can only wink so much. Soon I may mistake it for a twitch. I've grown content with watching the "WWSYS" video forty times a day, anyhow. I'll get my winks there. Have no list members seen any Kilcher Koncerts since the L.A. show? I haven't seen many reviews lately. I think Tom and I are worried if she's still alive, especially considering how odd Ronald McDonald has been acting as of late. - - Carter, Winking Out ------------------------------ From: Sean Hooks Date: Thu, 09 May 1996 21:47:17 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Jewel should cover... Here are some songs Jewel would do great covers of, a Top 10 if you will. 1 "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman 2 "Brilliant Disguise" by Bruce Springsteen 3 "Blowin' in the Wind" by Bob Dylan 4 "Romeo and Juliet" by Dire Straits 5 "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn 6 "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac 7 "Piece of my Heart" by Janis Joplin 8 "Hotel California" by The Eagles 9 "Going to California" by Led Zeppelin 10 "Cryin'" by Roy Orbison I don't know, it's just fantasy unless somebody on the list has an inside connection to Miss Jewel herself. Speaking of covers though, has she ever done "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen live? I know she performed it for the movie Clueless but it wasn't on the soundtrack. Later, Sean Hooks PS: If Kim from Morris Plains sees this, please write me. I have yet to receive the tape of the Drew concert that you made for me. ------------------------------ From: Tom Proven Date: Thu, 9 May 1996 18:47:05 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: Re Jewel Cover Songs I'd definitely second "please come to Boston" and add my own previously suggested suggestion: Chris Isaak (just about anything, although I'd really like to hear) Wicked Game or Baby did a bad bad thing or (the list goes on) > i would personally like to hear Jewel do "Please Come to Boston" > or "Escape (the pina colada song)" > > > cheers, > > dave > diciccda@saber.udayton.edu > Tom email: provent@pls.lib.ca.us jewel/kristin\tanya/lush\happy/catherine\tori/stereolab\milla mary\massiveattack/bob\heather/juliana/dandys\orb/drunkenboat "Stories of rags to riches leave me in stitches and with a thread that's hard to follow" -Trash Can Sinatras "Don't have to be fucking brilliant to see I'm not as smart as I seem to be I'm not as bright as i used to be I'm not as sharp as I think I am" -Dandy Warhols ------------------------------ From: Shredduh Date: Thu, 9 May 1996 22:03:25 -0400 (EDT) Subject: RE: the paradise I've been to a few shows there. Walk to the end of the hallway and then they have a stage with some standing room in front, two tiers of tables along either side of the stage, and a open 2nd floor with tables and standing room. Plenty of space to stand or sit. Problem is that like a 70's Cinderella, everyone needs to be out at midnight because they turn it into a disco. Yech... 8^) Hey, anyone want to meet before the show? I'm seeing her on the 18th, so I'll bring the stuff to her then. So anyone who wants to send me their birthday message, go ahead. But if you haven't sent it yet, and you're going to see her live yourself, might as well do it yourself. I heard on the radio this evening that on the 18th, before her Paradise show, Jewel is going to be making a record store appearance. I was in the car, and in my desperate search for a pencil and paper, I can't remember the name of the store very well. I know it's at 5:30, and it was something like 'Borders Downtown Bookstore and CAfe' or something. So i guess it's not a record store after all. I don't know. Any boston people know what I'm talking about? Where will she be? hoping to hear... ---------K e n---------- <> walden@nh.ultranet.com http://www.nh.ultranet.com/~wink/ "You must live as you think, or sooner or later you will think as you live." ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V1 #186 ***************************
