An exciting possibility. Dylans managers contacted Jewel saying he would like to meet with her and that they think it is regarding the possiblility of singing a duet with her at the shows. So that wouid be great. I'll let ya know. Did I mention that Jewels brother, who is out on tour with her, will be on the MTV Alt. Nation. She pulled him up there to his surprize. The NEA provides many service that you enjoy directly or indirectly. From public radio and television programs to arts programs for the underprivileged. My children have experienced being on stage in plays and musical productions which would not have been possible if not for NEA support, for example. The contoversial art projects that many people rant about represent an extremely small part of what the NEA does. And as for the idea that a thing must support itself to be worthwhile, I'm sure you can think of something you've enjoyed recently which generates absolutely no revenue but enriches everyones life by it's mere existence. Something as banal as a national park or a public street. Art is no less essential than these to our national wellbeing and deserves public support just as they do. Check out what the NEA does in your community. You may be surprised. And, by the way, I like the fact that my tax dollars support art. Yes, even art I may not particularly enjoy. After all, I don't agree with every thing my government does in other areas (eg. foreign policy), but I support it just the same.
