Steve sings on the third side with Jewel. Since she hung out with the Rugburns quite a bit and played with them at least a few times, from what I've heard, there must be other tapes w/them too. West Coast fans from her early days would probably have the most accurate info on this, though. Any Coasters wanna help out on this trivia? Jewel's hair was naturally blonde on the Wizard of Oz in Concert. If you see her now, after coming back from a 10-day vacation in Hawaii, you will see she is blonde and tanned again. 2. Penn State Concert April 20th. The time management has for Jewel's appearance is 1:00 p.m. However, check with the organizers of the concert, as these things change. The campus organization oraganizing the concert, U.C.C., phone number is (814) 865-1975. The general number for campus activities is (814) 865-2000. Try the first number first. After checking the Cracker home page, it still read that Cracker was to be on Letterman on the 22nd. My dream would be for Jewel and Dave Lowery to sing a duet together on Letterman. They are my second favorite band, to none other than then the counting crows. If I'm not mistaken, didn't she sing with them as her back-up band when she was on Leno? If so, would anyone have a tape of that. On another note, the Dead Man walking soundtrack, is in my opinion the best soundtrack put out in a long while. Unlike many movies now made, such as clueless, and reality bites, in which hip bands give old songs for the movie, the dead man walking soundtrack is in many ways an extension of the film. Tim Robbins gave the script to various muscicians to get fresh material on the content of his movie. By listening to this powerful CD or tape the listener gets many others opinions about capital punishment too. I also just got a new spew cd entitled J. Spew. I haven't seen it mentioned here so I thought I would. It has "Race Car Driver" on it as well as two Tori songs, an Edward McCain song, and many more. It's one of the best I ever received. One last thing...does anyone know when the newsletter is expecting to be sent out. I want to get me one of those cowgirl shirts if possible. thanks for listening.... Come on, can't you give some love. Spread the love...can ya feel it? Yes! The warmth spreads like a lit matchbook in your shoes! I ain't gonna rail against anyone. Except for those peoples who write stuff. I mean, really, can't you just telepathically spread your thoughts to the people on the list? Writing and typing is for flatscans and normal human beings. Wait, that's me. Has the FAQ been updated recently to include more of the cd's and stuff that have Jewel on 'em. Ya know, a more comprehensive discography? And has it been sent out recently? I guess not. Like I posted before. Jewel as Death in a Sandman movie (based on the comic book. I love it. And the new miniseries. Wow. Peachy keen). Anybody have any reviews on the new X-Files soundtrack thingy. I'm not too crazy about who's on it. I'm buzzing with energy, baby! Sarah McLachlan possibly minitouring this summer! And Jewel definitely headlining in May. And new albums from both (hopefully by the end of the year). I'm gonna do my best to get both here at Amherst College (NOT UMASS, DAMMIT!). brbbblllbrrplbllpppbbbsspplip (that's the noise you get when you hum with yer lips closed, but you also take yer pointer finger and wiggle it between yer lips. Ah, the easily amused mind of the idiot) here's something about the Craft soundtrack that I got from the Heather Nova newsletter: >From Columbia Records' Daily Dish: SUPERNATURAL SOUNDS FOR GENERATION HEX Columbia Records is brewing up a superdupersupernatural soundtrack for the soon-to-be released Columbia Pictures film "The Craft." The blithely-spirited collection features original tracks by Spacehog, Elastica, Matthew Sweet, Jewel, Sponge, and others. You'll also experience uncanny covers of the Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?" (performed by Love Spit Love), Peter Gabriel's "I Have The Touch" (trilled by Heather Nova), Our Lady Peace nailing the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows," a haunting rendition of Marianne Faithfull's "The Witches Song" by Juliana Hatfield, Nilsson's "Jump Into The Fire" by Tripping Daisy and Letters To Cleo interpreting the Cars' "Dangerous Type" (the soon-to-be released first single from "The Craft"). The top stars in the alterna-universe turned out for this alchemical anthology, which was conjured and casted by Ralph Sall (Saturday Morning Cartoons' Greatest Hits). "The Craft" is an occult thriller which follows the twisted paths of four Catholic high school girls -- played by Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Rachel True, and "Party Of Five"'s Neve Campbell -- who dabble in witchcraft; what begins as an intoxicating lark leads the girls into a toxic vortex of vengeance, necromancy and dark primordial power. "The Craft" captures the turbulence of confused adolescence, the yearnings of the heart, the allure of supernatural power and irrational desire, and the dangers inherent in taking the wrong fork on the spiritual road. In stores April 30, the soundtrack to "The Craft" is as bewitching as the film it accompanies. The Daily Dish can be found at: http://www.sony.com/Music/WireTap/Dish/index.html all right, babies, that's the end of my diatribe. farewell. Paul "parting is such sweet sorrow. Thanks for the "hee hee" Tom. and for the humor from the rest of ya funny people. you scare me:) That guy whose review sabra posted had some termites up his britches. And do ya work for a school radio station, Brett? Our school station works differently. We play whatever we want (except for a new music requirement of 33%. and we can choose out of 200+ new albums and singles). No preset playlists. We are a noncommercial, student run, college funded station, though. really, this is bye for now. lally lally ------------------------------ From: Tom Proven Date: Tue, 9 Apr 1996 21:28:58 -0700 (PDT) Subject: video of live performances? I thought Jewel was marvelous, Daltrey was decent, and Brown was acceptable. Lane was excellent as the Lion. I just might see Bird Cage now that I've realized that was him. And casting the little boy as Toto was a wonderfully neat concept, and quite funny I might add. IMO. You forgot to mention Debra Winger, who played the Wicked Witch. Great role for her, and a sexy outfit as well; perhaps a bit too much so for such a tale.
