It was harder to become accustomed to some songs like "Daddy" and "Painters" They seem more downbeat. The Easter weekend is quickly approaching, so make all the necessary preparations to hide your eggs, preferably not in one basket. I can recall a time, the exact year escapes my memory, when a charity group hid plastic eggs in the lawn adjacent to the LBJ library. With hopes of bringing smiles to under priviledged children of Austin, they planned a grand Easter egg hunt. Foolishly however, they failed to check when the maintenance crew would be manicuring the lawn. The disastrous results of these happenings were hundreds of plastic eggs being shreded by huge lawn maintenance machinery, countless eggs being thrown away on the premise that they were litter and the most discouraging consequence was the disappointment in those poor children's eye. I can remember sitting outside the library the following week, socializing with some classmates. As I was leaving I happened to find one well hidden egg which had escaped the fate which was bestowed upon its comrades. This one egg had the will to survive, the patience to hide until safety had presented itself. It reminds me of the story Harriet Jacobs and, dare I say it, Ann(e) Frank. So in the midst of all the gloom of that Easter weekend, one egg found its way to freedom. It brings a tear to my eye when I think about the egg's fallen friends, but the egg and its bravery makes me feel alive. The egg reminds me that there is a better destiny for us all. The egg's inspiring story reminds me not to let the machine shred me; to rise up and help those who are powerless against the machine. With this in mind, have a happy holiday (that is if you are celebrating Easter, if not then have a nice weekend) But back to the point, Jewel has a talent which baffles me. Her angelic voice draws listeners, her lyrics intrigues them. She is simply awesome. I can no longer hide such facts--Yes, I can be reached here at this not so noble address. I can also be reached at DiscoChckn@aol.com, but I usually only have negative relationships with those who write me there. Let's just say that I keep in contact with many people nationwide with this (UF) address and they know who I am. I rely on many services and kind gestures, so another address, one may even call it an anonymous address, is needed if I ever wish to be rude or hostile; thus I may keep the shine from my cyber-halo blinding to those who services I rely on. One thing that amuses me is that on some user list, I am praised as UF and despised as The Chicken. Ahh yes, I must avoid confusing the two. I hope that life is treating you well enough. I've played for a little over a year now. I've never studied classically. Just sort-of watched as others played and said "hey man how do you do that." Which, if I'm not mistaken is fairly similar to Jewel's instrumental eduacation. Jewel has taken on a guitar playing style all her own. She uses finger-picking to create her spendid melodies. Some of what she does is certainly more simplistic than others. For instance, on Who Will Save Your Soul, she uses the same four chords, but picks them in such a fashion that the end result is a masterpiece. Agree/ Disagree---Please continue this Discussion.
