He has produced thirty years worth of great music. He has certainly gone through some tough periods artistically, but I guess that's expected in that much time. What amazes me about Dylan is how much his music has changed over those years. There are groups like the Rolling Stones which have continued to make music for as long, but they have stuck to the same formula. Dylan has made a long transition from a folkie protest singer to a rock singer. And done a hell of a lot in between. I often consider Jewel to be much like a young Bob Dylan. If she could continue to write for thirty years, and grow as much as he has done, I'd be happy. That's why I think it's so important what we do now. Thirty years from now we may be wishing that we paid more attention to what Jewel was doing now, or had more of hers. So we should keep track of what she does, and tree all the tapes and do all that, so we'll have it in the future! ---------K e n---------- <> walden@bluefin.net http://www.bluefin.net/~wink "You must live as you think, or sooner or later you will think as you live." ------------------------------ From: ChasJKfan@aol.com Date: Sat, 30 Mar 1996 09:36:37 -0500 Subject: Jewel and Dylan concerts Hey all, To all you Jewel/Dylan concertgoers - I am soooo envious. Ok, I have an idea. When Jewel gets near the end of her set and she's asking for requests someone near the front yell out "A duet with Bob!" Maybe she'll sing a song with him. And one of you lucky people that record the show will have a copy for some of us that won't be lucky enough to go?... I surely hope that they show it here in KCTS/9 in seattle. I'll have to settle for my video for the time being.. I know this is not the Tori list (could someone please forward this there, I know we have a lot of cross-listers), but I din't know where else to turn... I got fifth row seets for Tori Amos in New Haven on 5/11. I woke up early so I could be there early and make sure I got the tickets and I got home and the person I was going with is going out of the country... SHe found out on the same day I got the tickets :(. It sounds like some cheesy melodrama... So, meanwhile I have fifth row tickets and no one I really want to take, so I'm going to get rid of them for face value. This really upsets me, because I've seen the last 2 tours... I have no idea where to sell them and don't want to drive all the way to New Haven (not close) so I fifgured I'd write here. If anyone wants them, for face value... PLEASE privately email me... Thnak you for letting me use your space...
