I thought that was really cool. I haven't seen it for a while. Peace, Carolyn ------------------------------ From: Sabra Richardson Date: Fri, 15 Mar 1996 10:30:58 -0700 (MST) Subject: tardy commentary Hello all, The George and Alana incident was actually quite nice despite the cardboard cut-out appearance of the interviewers. Jewel seemed all the more genuine. And she must be collecting noses from across the country to store in her tupperware container of Alaskan soil. But I really do have a purpose to write out to everyone! I would like to share my thoughts on the Innerchange Days tapes (thanks Bob ... I'm sending reimbursing postage that I forgot!) It is heaven to have a copy of "Sometimes It Be That Way" and to hear all the "new" material. I even like the sounds of crickets in the background on some of the later songs on the tape! My favorites now have to be "His Pleasure Is My Pain" and "Train Song". One of the reasons I like Jewel is the colorful spirit in her music and thoughts. I have a friend from Alaska whose family goes clamming in Homer (a connection of some sort!). She is just as free and limitless. So this music reminds me of her. "Walk Away" must be "Don't"'s mother and I hate to bring this up but I think it's "Can't Take My Soul" that displays the most obvious example of a Tori Amos influence (hanging with Jesus). Anyway, I hope everyone can get a hold of these tapes. They are precious and provide even greater insight into Jewel's variety and talent. sabra - -----------------s a b r a r i c h a r d s o n b e d d e s----------------- ------------------------------ From: Neile Graham Date: Fri, 15 Mar 1996 09:55:09 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: tardy commentary Sabra writes: > My favorites now have to be "His Pleasure Is My Pain" and "Train Song". Oh, cool. I thought I was the only one who was stuck on the "Train Song". I've been stuck on it to the point that when I first got the tape I kept rewinding and playing that song and rewinding and playing that song. I've been scared to ask for it at concerts though because I suspect Jewel doesn't remember how to play it. But I LOVE it. Something about the energy in it is wonderful. - --Neile neile@u.washington.edu http://weber.u.washington.edu/~neile/ ------------------------------ From: jimmy@denwa.info.com (Jim Gottlieb) Date: Fri, 15 Mar 96 11:01 PST Subject: Re: MTV On Mar 14 at 11:05, vxs112@psu.edu (Vanessa) writes: > Wouldn't you know it, but yesterday as i walked thru my student union > building, i found myself humming the words to WWSYS... when i realized it > was because mtv was playing her video. Are you sure it was MTV? At my school, some of the eating areas are equipped with video jukeboxes, and WWSYS is one of the tunes I have seen it belting out. ------------------------------ From: JPhipps207@aol.com Date: Fri, 15 Mar 1996 14:47:17 -0500 Subject: [none] el Newsletter is due to come out. Some mailing list packages require a blank line between the header and the message body. Most, but not all, e-mail programs automatically put it there. AOL apparently does not. Consequently, if you don't preface your message with a blank line, the first line will be assimilated into the header. I imagine it would be possible to view the first line by viewing the full header (h if you use Pine like I do), but I haven't had to try it. - -- J.j. If you're on AOL, be sure to put in a couple of blank lines at the beginning of your message. The person in charge of it is quite ill and this caused a delay waiting for her to be well, and it turns out shes very ill, so Lenedra took it over but shes been gone a lot. I can say, though that it is REALLY neat. Lots of pictures of Jewel and an interview, and poems, and ....well, youll see. Drawings by Jewel too.
