I admit it's not a music hotbed, but we did have jewel and edwin a week ago. DAve matthews is from here... >and I think anybody >who enjoys Jewel (such as anyone who would be reading this >right now) >would probably find her interesting as well...she's formed a >group >called Monsoon and it will have a CD out this spring, but she >has an >independently released CD that came out in '94 that I highly >recommend. >If anyone has a chance to listen to AWARE II or Shannon's CD >"Three >Wishes", don't pass it up...if you are interested in Shannon >Worrell, >email me and I'll drop some info on how to pick it up. Again... i'm from charlottesville, at least during the school year. I've never heard of shannon worrell I'd love some information I'd also like to point out that the way... this poster (sorry, i forgot the name) inserted shannon's name is a good way (in my opinion) to do it Just say if you like jewel u might like this person too. More often that not it's turns out to be a good idea to check them out. Also if anyone maybe knows anything else about charlottesville... like did tori come here this monday? I heard a rumor (i'm not trying to get any tori discussion going... I just thought maybe someone on here might have heard since there ar many tori fans here) Bye Jake ------------------------------ From: gregdunn@indy.net (Greg Dunn) Date: Fri, 26 Jan 1996 20:12:28 -0500 Subject: Re: Thoughts and apologies > Many of you sent me private posts >and im sorry that Im not able to reply. Hiranya, I don't think any of us expected personal replies! We (at least I :) just wanted to make sure you knew you have our support. The thing I regret most my first year here was that I only saw Dave Matthews once, and he played at a set every single night, and often did second shows at the fraturnity houses. Argh :) Oh, did anyone get a copy of Jewel's show at Traxx? If so, drop me a line :) - -G.W. ------------------------------ From: PAUL KYUSAM KIM Date: Fri, 26 Jan 1996 22:58:07 -0500 (EST) Subject: stuff (I always have problems thinking of subject lines) Greetings earthlings, So. Ummm...was that whole Tori/Jewel thing a flamewar? Like Homer J. Simpson, I crawled under a pile of coats and hoped that everything turned out okay. I won't post any personal opinions or any opinions that aren't mine either. At least not in this sentence. That letter from Steve Ito about the founding members of the list moved me (okay maybe not moved, but it made me think, something I haven't done in a couple years) and made me think (see, I thought a thought) "these are some cool people and it sucks to have them leave." On a "this guy must be a sick psycho, or maybe he's just weird" thread, three nights ago, I dreamt that I went to a jewel concert (I'm greatly anticipating seeing her this monday in Northampton, and my anxiety must be creeping into my dreams), but I didn't see her play and I didn't get to met her, yet I sensed that she had played awesomely (you know how in dreams you inherently know facts that, when reviewed when you're awake, confound you ?). I was happy when my alarm went off. Then the following night, I dreamt that I saw her in concert (don't remember if I saw her play) but then I met her after she played and got her to sign the POY cd booklet and then I touched her face, to make sure that she was a real corporeal essence and not a dream (wacky, huh?) I tend to touch peoples faces for no reason. Odd habit. and patting people on the head. Anyone else going to the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA to see Jewel? Just wondering so that you can be forewarned and do your best to avoid me. I really need to do my laundry. What merchandise has she been selling at her concerts and at what price. I would like to know since I wanna know how much money I need to steal from the cash machine...I mean withdraw. Yeah. That's right. withdraw. You know how the address of this list is jewel@smoe.org? What the heck does smoe.org mean or stand for? And how do you pronounce Hiranya? And is Jewel gonna tour by herself after she tours with Edwin McCain? How long is this current tour? And when's the Wizard of Oz in Concert going to be released in stores as a cd and video apart from the deal on tv? And why do I have to go to the bathroom?(oh my bladder's full) That's about it for now. My friend's kicking me off his computer. Only a handful of people know what it means. On ecto this created a bit of a disturbance (at least, on an ecto scale), as some of those ignorant of the joke got tired of seeing it waved around without being able to understand it. However, it's never been publicly explained. (and no, I don't know what it is. I suspect it can't be explained now, because it's actually not very funny, and it would just be a total letdown, but that's just my guess.) Footnote: ecto is a mailing list ostensibly devoted to Happy Rhodes (an excellent singer/songwriter), but typically focusing on female singers in general. (And yes, it is currently home to it's own Tori thread.) Neal ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V1 #34 **************************
