Hi EDAs, I was just surfing around tonight for cool RealAudio sites after checking out a bit of the Jewel concert at AudioNet. Well I found a site called The DJ at http://www.thedj.com They have several formats to choose from, one being 'Female Artists'. So I clicked in, and wouldn't you know it, they were playing Foolish Games. That was followed by Joan Osborne's 'Right Hand Man', Lisa Loeb's 'Rose Colored Glasses', Mazzy Star's 'Into Dust'. and it continues. The quality isn't exactly CD, but at least RealAudio 3.0 sounds better than 2.0, and the mix is interesting. ttyl, Dan - ------------------------------ DAN STARK danstark@mnsi.net Windsor, Ontario, Canada - ------------------------------ From owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Wed Dec 4 09:12:37 1996 Return-Path: Received: by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA22630; Wed, 4 Dec 96 09:12:37 EST Message-Id: <9612041412.AA22630@smoe.org> Date: Tue, 3 Dec 1996 15:27:17 -0500 From: ABershaw@aol.com To: jewel-news@smoe.org Subject: Jewel News: Details on SATURDAY Meriden FREE Jewel Gig Sender: owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk X-To-Unsubscribe: Send mail to "jewel-news-request@smoe.org" X-To-Unsubscribe: with "unsubscribe" as the body. Hi All, Here's details on Saturday. The show will take place in "The Atrium" in the Meriden Square Mall in Meriden, CT. The show is to benefit the "Joy Of Sharing" Charity. *******You MUST bring an UNWRAPPED toy to donate if you want to attend. Otherwise its absolutely free. The show is scheduled to begin between 10:30-11:00 AM in the morning. I'm not sure if other events are planned but I'd get there early to be sure to catch Jewels set. I do not know how long she plans on performing. I've been trying to call the mall & station for easy directions from the highways, but the lines have been busy all day. I only know backroads directions from our home, which would confuse you, so I can't help on exact directions to the mall. If you need directions, you can call the mall at (860) 237-7837. You can also try to call KISS FM in Hartford. They are putting this on. Their # is (860) 249-9577. Also, If you can get to Meriden, anyone can direct you to the mall. Sorry I cant be more helpful on directions. Hope to see some of you there & for a possible get-together afterwards. The first annoucement is going to be 7:35am Wednesday. My guess is that this is going to be a MIX 96.5 Private Performance, which means that to go, you have to win tickets from the radio station. Persistance is the key. Keep at it. Begging is a possibilty. In fact, they usually give you a chance to beg for tickets.. and if the DJ thinks you've begged well enough, you'll get tickets. Or something else silly like that. Two others they did: (GIve me a good reason!) and (Why do I owe you something?) I, personally, would love to see what would happen if we all approached them as the Texas EDAs..... That might actually get us tickets on the spot. I think it'll help ALOT if you mention the group if you try the begging stuff. The phone # of the DJ booth is (713)390-5965. Actually, it might be Area Code 281... been some weird stuff lately. It's one of them. Good luck! Hi all, Heres most of what was recorded when Jewel was at Bearsville Studios this summer. These sessions took place the 2 weeks prior to Jewelstock. I post this in hopes that it will simply spark some Jewel-related conversation. Keep in mind other sessions later occurred in Nashville & NYC, so this is NOT any definative track list for the new album. But it is likely to include a dozen of so of the following: 1) Electric tracks recorded with the band in Studio B(the big studio) at Bearsville between July 6th -11th, 1996: Boy Needs A Bike Carnivore Jessica(2 versions electric & acoustic band) Tough Girl Innocence Maintained Deep Water Satellite Fragile Heart Sometimes It Be That Way Love Me Just Leave Me Alone Fading Away Run Tonto Run 2) Acoustic tracks recorded in Bearsville Studio A (a much smaller studio) between July 12th-16th: His Pleasure Is My Pain Louisa & Her Blue Guitar Fragile Flame 1000 Miles Away Sometimes It Be That Way Run Tonto Run Grey Matter The Face Of Love Nicotine Love Moon Over Austin Buttercup Deep Water Keep in mind this may be incomplete, but I think it is a fairly accurate list of things being considered for the next album. I have to admit that I've lost touch with the list recently; I've just been skimming most of the posts over the last few hectic weeks. As I am sure others will admit, I will always read the well-thought out posts (write, edit, re-edit, sleep on it, re-edit, post ... right Dennis Harris??) of a few. One of these EDA's is Alan Bershaw (aka Mr BB) - his posts always have highly relevent information. So thanks Mr. BB, here's one EDA who appreciates the info! Just got back into Boston from a 70 mile jaunt north to catch Jewel's first New England appearance since returning from Europe. I wouldn't have known about it had it not been for this list, so thanks!! The concert at the University of NH featured Nada Surf, the Bodeans, and Jewel. It was really odd, because the entire crowd was seated. So Nada Surf and the Bodeans would be jamming and the entire front row was SITTING DOWN! I've seen wilder movie theaters!!! But the format seemed to be perfect for Jewel - a lot of her music is best heard sitting down. I've been to 6 shows now, and I really wasn't expecting to be very enthralled by this one (I actually thought the Bodeans would take the show away) - I know this is heresay, but I'm being honest! I was really wrong!!! Jewel was phenomenal!!! The sound wasn't spectacular, but the crowd was respectful (and quiet!!!), probably because no alcohol or smoking allowed - all we had was Jewel to give us a high! Lots of teenyboppers around, so this twentybopper felt his age, but the young crowd really seemed to energize Jewel. I brought a friend from school with me, and she was completely enthralled. This was MUCH more pleasant than the drunk, loud guy who was next to me at Lupo's!!! I remembered most of the set: Pieces of You Little Sister Near You Always Deep Water Satellite Fading Away Band Enters... You Were Meant For Me I'm Sensitive Sometimes It Be That Way Foolish Games Morning Song Grey Matter Angle Standing By Chime Bells Encore.... Who Will Save Your Soul ??? (she said this was inspired by the Democratic National Convention, something about older politicians giving up hope?, I think she played it at the Boston Common...) Amen I know some EDA's were planning on being there, sorry I didn't set a time to meet. I raced up there after work, and didn't think I'd have any time to spare... Oh yeah, so I'd better talk about how I finally met Jewel!!! My friend Cristina and I decided to head down to the floor level to get a better look at Jewel. She came over to a bunch of kids begging for her autograph. Man, did I feel silly, but sucked it up figuring it'd be a good momento. I gave her my ticket stub to sign (score!!), and asked her if her band was going to be with her in Vegas tomorrow (Wed) night because I thought Foolish Games with the band would be perfect (like she would listen to me!). Funny thing is that she was adamant that she would be at Madison Square Garden tomorrow night! Now the gal is a hard worker, but Vegas and NYC in the same night?!? Actually her MSG gig is on Thursday night...I'm pretty embarrassed that I would know Jewel's schedule better than she does!! She signed my stub and Cristina claims I was shaking uncontrollably! Man, the girl is younger than I am, how could I be intimidated by that!! Fame I guess! As Cristina said to me, the album (POY) does NOT do Jewel justice!! She is SOOO much more powerful live. Any EDA's who haven't had the chance to see her, do so if at all possible!!!!! Good night, all ... and let us know YOUR concert stories!!! I found out yesterday (and verified today) that the WHFS Holiday Nutcracker at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA this Sunday (12/8) has been bumped up by 1/2 hour. Doors open at 5:30 and the show starts at 6:00, NOT 6:30 like its printed on the tickets. The reason was due to the number of acts. Also, WHFS (99.1) will brodcast the concert so you can listen and/or tape it. There will be a little EDA get together before the show near the venue around 4:30 (but that might get bumped up due to the time change). We will be meeting at a restaurant called "Brian's Grille". It is at the corner of Route 123 and Braddock Road in the University Mall Shopping Center. If anyone needs directions or more details, send me an e-mail. Hi guys. Being right here at UNH (gee, that's where Jewel was Tuesday night!) I thought you might be interested in the article that was in today's edition of our school paper. Headline is Jewel: no longer a diamond in the rough "Who will save your soul?" If Jewel has it her way... The uplifting songstress and vocalist brought a refreshing breath to the WHittemore center Tuesday night-one of resuscitation, encouragement, and hope. Deemed by WERZ personalities as the "hardest working woman in pop," Jewel performed for a crowd of nearly 5,000 people. Jewel arrived in Durham late in the evening after taping a session for MTV in Colorado, yet she appeared before the crowd sparkling as her name suggests. Starting with the second track off her album *Pieces of You* Jewel immediately captivated the audience who had been wandering restlessly during the proceeding acts. With a voice of gold and angel dust and with the power in her voice of a cathedral organ, she enraptured the audience. An accomplished yodeler, Jewel shared her talent with the awe-struck crowd who, for the most part, had not seent he human tongue move that fast or in such a manner. Between songs Jewel shared anecdotes and thoughts that she said were the inspirations for her music. Including lyrics she wrote while living in her car and while visiting the restroom of a KMart store. As a child growing up in ALaska, Jewel said her parents wanted to know how she was going to "make a living" rather than what would make her happy. She said that upbringing made her more aware of the power of dreams. She hasd a dream, and thanks to the people who supported her and bought her album she is living that dream. Jewel is an advocate for positive thinking. As she said to the crowd: humans have the unique ability to turn thoughts into actions. Hands cannot do something until the brain thinks it. She encouraged positive thought as a way to bring peace to the people of the Earth and as a way to set people free from the vicious, destructive ways we have come to know. She also encouraged the audience to free themselves fromt he soul-dulling influences of sex, drugs and television-which had a mixed reception by the audience. Some people cheered while others jeered. Also, on a political note, Jewel shared a song she had written after attending the Democratic National Convention. It held the message that there is hope in the future, but alos a chance in the present to affect change. As for the rest of the concert, there was a noticeable detachment between the performers and the audience. The Bodeans set themselves further from the audience by bringing up the obvious tension. Most likely the guitarist was hoping to change the atmosphere, but it resulted in a stiffer and more rigid crew of people. There was enough acne-creme clad faces in the Whittemore center Tuesday night at the Nada Surf, Bodeans, and Jewel concert to dry the Alaskan pipeline. And there was enough pubescent hormones to asphyxiate a pediphile. For those of you generous enough to donate to the Wildcat Santa drive through the purchase of a ticket, at least it was for a good cause. And thankfully, Jewel took the stage. There ya go. There's a black and white photo of her playing the guitar accompanying the article. The whole thing is almost-but-not-quite-half-a-page. I did grab a few extras (and can get more) if anyone would like a copy. Hi All, A good time was had by all in Meriden this morning. Rachel, Paul Kim & William Li dropped by our place this morning & we cruised over to the mall around 10:00am. I was very happy to meet (in person finally!) Amy(Wiggy2), Tegan Goodwin, Ted Berberian & Family, Jerry & a bunch of other EDAs(my memory on names is terrible, sorry!) The turnout was relatively small. I'd estimate about 300 people around the stage area at the most. Many more upstairs peering down but still somewhat intimate considering what a strange gig this was! Most people in the mall were disinterested shoppers going about their business. A surprise for us all was a short unnanounced acoustic set by Susanah Hoffs (former Bangle) which was nice, but plagued by some sound problems. She did 4 songs prior to Jewel's set. As I'm sure others will tell you, This is likely the closest anyone has seen Jewel perform in a long time! I hung out at the board myself, but all the above mentioned EDA's were mere inches from Jewel during her set. Jewel's set consisted of Cold Song, You Were Meant For Me, Morning Song, Deep Water, Who Will Save Your Soul & of course, Chime Bells. The crowd was enthusiastic throughout & Jewel signed many autographs from the little stage (a one foot riser, actually) following her set & then was wisked away...... Thats the scoop. I really enjoyed finally getting to meet more of you EDAs(you know who you are!). Wish the weather was better so we coulda spent more time together. Everyone wisely chose to get going before the storm picked up. Here's to many more opportunities in 97! Here's that interview from AOL that was mentioned. It was conducted by SPINOnline. November 21, 1996 Alaskan yodeler Jewel is still out there saving her soul traversing the globe on eternal tour. The 21 year old cult singer stole the hearts of latent sincerists lurking in front of MTV with her 1995 debut "Pieces of You." And now 200 songs later and a contagious fan base, Jewel has turned out another album that will be released this March. SPINonline chatted with Jewel from a tour stop in Germany recently, where as she'll explain, the shows have hardly been the giggling love fests that she's accoustomed to in the States. Over the AT&T lines Jewel came in crisp, a little tired perhaps, but with tons of news about the new LP she recorded last summer at Bearsville Studio in Woodstock, New York. SPIN: I heard you recorded some songs for your upcoming album with Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. How did that all come about? J: I knew Flea from back when I was living in my car in San Diego before I even thought about getting a record deal. he was one of the first people I ever played for. He encouraged me to make a record when I was in complete disbelief and thought I was terrible. We kept in touch over the years. He's always been a big supporter and wanted to play on the album. So I said okay. S: What songs did you record together? J: We did a song called Satellite which Flea does an awesome base line on. Its my favorite song on the record. We ran over four or five songs. "Face Of Love" "Innocence Maintained" ... I don't remember the names of the rest. S: Were they songs that you wrote? J: I wrote everything. Not all the songs I did with Flea will make it the final album though because the timing wasn't perfect or the piano was off. Things like that. S: What is Satellite about? J: To me its about that alot of us are taught to program our VCR's but not to understand our emotions. We know how to send satellites into space but we don't know how to relate to each other. I wrote it when I was doing preproduction for the album. I thought it was a terrible song and I almost threw it away. My producer heard it and said, "This is great." S; Did you write most of the album before you went into the studio? J: Its a real mixture. I have over 200 songs. S: It must have been really hard to choose which ones would go on the album. J: It was. I recorded over thirty tracks. S: Is there a theme to this album? J: Not really. I look at my first album as a pencil sketch and this one is more of a skilled drawing. There's more color. I've grown better at articulating musically and lyrically. S: Was your frame of mind different this time around? J: I was so scared the first time around. I didn't think anyone would ever really listen to the album. I was also scared of the musicians that worked with me on it. They were all so talented. They played on Elvis' albums and with Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan. Legendary!! S: I heard there were some live tracks on the album. J: Yep. It was really sweet, my fans asked me over the internet- I have a group of fans that named themselves after one of my songs "Everyday Angels I'm Sensitive" -- they asked me to put on a free concert if they all came to Woodstock. I said yes, and so people drove from San Francisco, Missouri, Florida, Canada, all over. They camped out and called it Jewelstock. I recorded those sessions and put some of the songs on the album. S: How many of these fans are there? J: I don't know really. Because radio never played me in the beginning and I toured so much, I got a really strong following going. They've really kept my spirits up. They bootleg my stuff. Their goal is to get all my material. S: And that's okay with you? J: Its good because I write alot of new stuff and I forget'em. If it wasn't for my fans sending me back the bootlegs the stuff would be gone forever. They don't sell'em. S: Do you yodel on the record? J: No. It was taking all the attention away from my songs. S: The record's coming out in March. Will you tour in support of it? J: I won't stop touring. This tour and that tour will blend together. S: You've been on the road for two years now and your just going to stay on the road. Is that hard? J: yep. I love what I'm doing and I feel thankful that I don't have to be a waitress. But at the same time getting 3 hours of sleep a night and doing 40 cities every 30 days playing 5 shows a day has been very tiring. I lose heart sometimes especially cause no bands would tour with me and so I was opening for gothic bands and punk bands. Right now I'm in Germany with this guy named Willie Deville from New Orleans. He has no following except in Germany. His crowds are so mean to me. I've never played such tough crowds. It's a humbling business. It feels good cause fame is only in other peoples minds. Its not a reality. Hi, While shopping for good Christmas gifts at Borders Books & Music today, I found something on the New Paperbacks table called "Music Hound: Rock - The Essential Album Guide", edited by Gary Graff. It's a large, thick reference book, similar to the Rolling stone Encyclopedia of Rock. It goes artist by artist, giving their biographies and reviewing the albums from each. (It would make an excellent gift for any music fan.) I flipped open to J to get an idea how up-to-date and accurate the info may be. Sure enough, Jewel was deemed essential enough to be included. Here, without permission :P, is what they had to say: PIECES OF YOU ============= Produced by Neil Young collaborator Ben Keith, and recorded partly live and acoustic at a San Diego coffeehouse, Jewel's "Pieces Of You" (Atlantic, 1994; Producer: Ben Keith)*** introduced a sunny, sensitive folkie with a surfer-chick attitude and a poet's soul. But she immediately began bucking against the singer-songwriter pigeonhole. Compared to the introspective sound of the album, Jewel's live shows were funny, funky and loose, liberally dosed with cheerful monologues, yodeling excercises and such sexually charged, unreleased rockers as Race Car Driver and the punk-pop "God's Gift To Women" (which can be found on a 1994 Atlantic promo-only EP titled "Save The Linoleum" - it's worth whatever you have to pay for it.) Relentless touring as opening act for everyone from Peter Murphy to Bob Dylan, a role as Dorothy in a TBS-produced update of "The Wizard Of Oz", and the hypnotic rhythms of her twice-released single "Who Will Save Your Soul" helped goose her debut to gold status in 1996. -David Okamoto ----- >From the credits: David Okamoto is the Music Editor for The Dallas Morning News, and a contributing editor to ICE. PoY jumped 11 places to #16 this week and missed by 1 place as being the "Greatest gainer" of the week. (PoY even got special mention about it) It's previous high was tied last week at #27, as it had dropped when WWSYS cooled off, then started to rise again as YWMFM moved up the charts. YWMFM on the other hand, only moved up one spot to #26, I'll post info on how to obtain this weekly ditribution this evening. Howdy Y'all, As a followup to Alan's post last Sunday (or Monday?) there are plans in the works for two new Jewel tape trees in mid to late January. I am bringing this up now to try quash talk of getting dubs from the "When You Smile" bootleg CD. The CD is an illegal bootleg of the 5/18/96 show in Boston. It has the entire show on it (cut off a bit at the end). It appears to be mastered from a "numerous" generation cassette tape. I would not waste my time getting a cassette copy of that boot. Why? Read on. The one tree will be the SAME concert, but it will be mastered from the WBCN Broadcast Feed Master (DAT) and the WestWood One Radio CD that was put out by the radio network. The quality of this treed tape will be much nicer than any cassette off of the boot CD. (not to mention the cool J-cards :) Alan will be sending that master to the seed for this tree who will be setting up the cassette to be treed. It is not known at this time who will be the administrator of that tree. Branch & leaf calls for that tree will be announced mid to late January, after classes start up, by whomever is running it. (I think the seed already has someone in mind, if not himself) The second tree will be one I will be running. It is not at this time 100% certain that this tree will happen, as it consists primarily of the Jingle Ball 96 shows and there are still some unknowns, including Jewel's recent battle with bronchitis. However, Alan & I are quite confident that this one will be a go too. (Some nice surprises are in the works for it) Also, as in the tree of the Boston 5/18 show, branch & leaf calls will be announced mid to late January. Please do not bother Alan nor myself with questions about either of these trees now. Rest assured they will not be treed until after classes start up again in January. Here's a repost of the EDA Cover Tape announcement I originally made in August. The deadline is now at the end of the year. If you really want to contribute, but would need some extra time for it, then talk to me about it. I'm easy. Hello everyone! Tom Proven and I would like to proudly announce that the Everyday Angels List Member Tape is officially under way. Basically, it's a chance for YOU, an EDA member, to cover your favorite Jewel song for all other EDA's to hear! If you can't play an instrument, then fine. Sing it a capella. Like Karen Carpenter said, "Don't worry if it's not good enough for anyone else to hear. Just sing. Sing a song." Here's a guideline of what I plan: - --------------------------------- 1) People email me the top *3* Jewel songs they would like to cover by August 9th. That gives everyone a little over a week to decide. Indicate whether or not you know how to play the songs, or if you need the chords and lyrics. If I don't know the chords to a song, I will post every few days or so a request to the list asking anyone who does to email me a copy. If no one answers the request, I'll try to figure it out or pass the buck over to Tom Proven. The reason I'm asking for your top 3 songs is to have an alternate, should someone else want to do the song. If there ARE conflicts (and I'm sure there will be), I will email all interested parties and ask if they would like to do their alternate pick. Hopefully, there will be a resolution, but if there is not, then we'll have different versions of certain songs. But that's okay. It'll also show which of Jewel's songs have the biggest impact on us. Remember, you don't have to be a Jewel clone and stay true to the original song. BUT if I get eight versions of WWSYS that all sound the same, some are going to get trimmed, unless there are noticeable differences or there are enough versions of the same song to justify its own separate tape. 2) Once the play list is settled, I will tell everyone where to send their tapes. I ask that people send me a copy of their cover, because bad things do tend to happen every once in a while through the mail. If I have enough tapes in, I will bring a sampling of what I have to the New Hampshire show to whet the appetites of the EDA's there and build up interest. 3) Hopefully, I will have all the tapes in by the end of August and can begin to compile them all. Depending on the amount of interest, I will either tree the tape or send them out myself (that would require really little interest). That's what I hope happens. It would really be beneficial to my sanity if this is done before or shortly after my fall semester starts. The biggest pain I see is figuring out what songs people will do and figuring them out. After that, it shouldn't be too bad. Other points I'd like to bring up: * When sending in your tapes, I'd appreciate it if people would include a picture. If I could put picture (or your band's) next to the song you cover and your name, it would make this tape much more personal. * If someone decides to do 3 songs, and they all sound spectacular, who am I to decide to only include ONE of their covers? But that is a "what if?" question that I will take into consideration should the problem present itself. If only a handful of people decide to contribute to the tape, then I will definitely allow for more than one cover. If I'm deluged by requests, then I may just have to limit it to one per person, lest we have a double tape. * Quality of the recordings will obviously vary, but I encourage everyone to use whatever is at their disposal. If all you have is your boombox, then so be it. But I wouldn't recommend going into a studio unless you really, really want to. I, myself, am just going to use a microphone that plugs into my tape deck. Hopefully, the quality won't vary significantly to force people to adjust the volume when they listen to each song. If someone has any experience and/or input in recording and copying (Mr.BB or Dan Stark?), please email me. * I have nothing against list members doing a cover solo, then another with other local list members and/or their band. Well, that's all I can think of. So everyone email me your requests, and if enough are sent in and done fast enough, I can guarantee you the song. And, in turn, this project can be done before everyone realizes it. Now, start practicing! eric montas :) From owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Thu Dec 19 17:23:33 1996 Return-Path: Received: by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA10326; Thu, 19 Dec 96 17:23:33 EST Received: from relay6.UU.NET by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA16144; Tue, 17 Dec 96 23:12:36 EST Received: from spectra.net by relay6.UU.NET with ESMTP (peer crosschecked as: blue.spectra.net [204.177.130.1]) id QQbuom08604; Tue, 17 Dec 1996 23:11:40 -0500 (EST) Received: from ducksoup.spectra.net (pm147.spectra.net [204.177.130.147]) by spectra.net (8.6.12/8.6.9) with SMTP id XAA18119; Tue, 17 Dec 1996 23:07:43 -0500 Message-Id: <32B76E56.57CF@spectra.net> Date: Tue, 17 Dec 1996 23:08:54 -0500 From: Mike Connell Organization: Where's Waldo Harris? Hi all. On Sunday they broadcasted (at long last!) the billboard awards on channel [V] (that's the Asian music channel). Of course, I discovered this just as the host was saying "... a real gem - Jewel!", but hey, you've probably seen it enough to remember the show. What I doubt you saw was the short interview Jewel gave to [V]J Angela Chow after presenting Dishwalla with their award. Here's the transcript: [V]: Okay, tell us about your um... your upbringing, cause you grew up in Alaska, and to alot of people they're quite, you know, sort of vague about Alaska, they don't really know what goes on there, and the music there, ... Jewel: hmm... (nods) [V]: ... now you grew up with a lot of music around you from your parents n' stuff, can you tell us about that? Jewel: amm... Since about age six I sang with my parents in hotels, I'm yodeling, my parents got divorced when I was eight, and we started, my father and I lived together and my two brothers, we made a living out of bar singing, um..., and so I bar sang from age eight to sixteen when I moved out and I studied classical music then, and blues, and jazzm and those kinds of things, singing. [V]: Right. How, how would you describe your music? Jewel: It's just honest. I think it's very lyrical, more poetic then musical right now. And they broke for commercials. Hi, Recently, Jewel's office requested a copy of a tape from Java Joe's in Ocean Beach, CA from January 11th 1996. (Not to be confused with the 2 summer shows there) This show was not recorded proffesionally. All we are aware of is a commonly circulated audience walkman-type cassette recording which we already have. Our copy is only marginably listenable & I'd like to track down the origins of this & upgrade the tape for them (& myself) if possible. Unfortunately, we haven't the info on who we even got it from long ago. If you made this tape (hoot! cheer!), know who made it, or can provide help, please get in touch. I know this show is very commonly circulated so hopefully someone can help even if the original EDA has moved on. (Please limit responses to helping if you can.) If you don't have this, it's a really unusual setlist with many rare songs & a few of the "new" electric songs in a very embryonic acoustic stage with different lyrics, etc. It's definately worth finding regardless of quality. It was obviously a VERY experimental night. :-) They didn't say, but I'm sure that's why they want it. Thanks for any help. Hi all, After hearing about (& posting) rumored tour dates, I inquired to Lenedra on the validity of them. Here is the TRUE scoop: All those dates are rumors only. They know nothing about that Indianapolis date as of now. She did mention that they may look into doing the Japan Dylan dates, though. Jewel will possibly do a March tour of the U.S. These will be primarily colleges & small theaters. They will probably be solo acoustic & "intimate" was the word used. (VERY happy news there!) They are considering doing another month in the UK around April. Thats the general scoop. Now heres a few upcoming TV appearances not ever mentioned before: On January 7th, Jewel will be announcing nominees at The Grammy Awards live from NYC. Consult local listings for stations, etc. On January 24th, Jewel will be taping Tom Snyder's National TV show in Los Angeles & it probably airs that same night. Thats all for now. It'll be a few weeks before any more updates are available. While I have your attention, I'm also happy to say that the Online Jewel Chronology is soon approaching 500 Jewel Performances & Entries! Thanks to all who continue to help with additions & corrections. For those interested in all of Jewel's performances & significant dates in her career go to: http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/xenomorph/jchrono.htm Take a look sometime & enjoy. Suggestions welcome. Thats about all. Have a Safe & Happy New Year! EDAs, Likely as a result of ballot box stuffing, PoY jumped from #14 to #5 on the internet charts this week, and was pegged the "greatest gainer". >From the Charts' Bulletin board called "Chart Bits": "The big story in the top ten this week, is JEWEL's surge up 9 positions to #5 with "Pieces of You." JEWEL's album features the singles "Who Will Save Your Soul?" and "You Were Meant For Me," both of which took a delayed trip to the charts after their release."
