Since I haven't seen any references to this yet... Jewel will be appearing at the "(W)HFSmas Holiday Nutcracker" on Sunday, December 8th, 1996. The show will be at the George Mason Patriot Center, but I don't know the time of day. Additional acts include: Emmitt Swimming The Wallflowers Lemonheads Sebadoh Social Distortion Sheryl Crow Tickets are $24.99 plus the proverbial service charge, and go on sale this Saturday (11/9/96) at 10:00 am at all Ticketmaster locations. If anyone thinks I left anything out (additional acts, etc.) post it to the list. Anand p.s. IMHO not the greatest line up, but sufficient given our beloved Jewel. p.p.s. If anyone wants me to pick up tickets for them, send me an e-mail. Sorry I neglected to include the info. The show is on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. It is about 15 miles west of D.C. The venue seats about 10 thousand, but I assume about 1/3 will be lost due to the addition of a stage. Although, I don't know which track was used, Jewel is featured on this CD set. Here's the catch. The CDs are not for sale. They are a promotional thing only. I just found out that on December 7th Jewel will be performing an "in store" appearance here in CT to benefit "The Joy Of Sharing" charity. It's already advertised on the radio & in the local paper. This show is being put on in conjunction with WKSS FM radio in Hartford,CT. So likely this will happen somewhere in Hartford. The actual location is still to be announced, but I'll keep the list informed if I hear more before Hiranya gets back. The stations offices are closed for the day, but I'll give them a ring tommorrow. This one is DEFINATELY hapnin though. Hello Jewel Fans! This is an invitation to sign up as a leaf for a tape tree that will circulate the 3/28/96 show on one side of the tape, and the 8/18/96 show on the other side of ONE 90 MINUTE AUDIO TAPE. We have decided to circulate the 3/28/96 Tower Records Show because it is the show on the "Salvation" bootleg cd which has been the topic of recent discussion. At this point in time, we are planning a tree with 10 branches and each branch will have 8 leafs. The actual size of the tree will vary depending upon the amount of interest in the tree, One of the branches will be a Canadian branch. Another branch will handle Australian and other international requests. If you wish to be a leaf, please contact me with the following info: ***********************LEAF REQUEST INFO******************************** First and Last Name: email address: mailing address: ***********************************END************************************ I'd like to thank everyone who volunteered to be a branch. I am always impressed by the dedication, courtesy, and charitability of the EveryDay Angels! An extra-special thanks goes out to Truthseecr for designing the tremendously super-cool j-card :) :) :) If you have any questions, comments, or feedback please don't hesitate to contact me. Please remember that everyone involved is VOLUNTEERING both their time and stereo equipment, so please be patient and kind!!! Please also note that if the demand for leafs drastically exceeds the number of available spots, then some leaf requests may be denied. We will attempt to accomodate everyone. But if demand is overwhelming, feel free to post publicly and kindly ask a leaf to dub the tape for you. One last note, the quality ot the tape will be not be as amazing as the jewelstock tapes, but this tape is very listenable. I seriously doubt we will ever again receive tapes as high quality as js. thanks for listening! peace, dave *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* Dave DiCicco peaches@dmapub.dma.org "Innocence Maintained" is a moderated, news only email list providing its subscribers with timely information about Jewel Kilcher. Angels, What a huge response I've gotten (8 people in just a few hours)! Thanks for the interest... I have learned a few tidbits which may affect your actions. 1) I have on good authority that the release date is 11/18 instead of 11/11; I am attempting to verify this. Obviously I can't listen to the CD till it's available! 2) The artist list I saw today does NOT include Paula Cole, even though she was announced in a brief on-air blurb a couple of weeks ago. Apparently the release date and track list were still undergoing revision. I have asked permission to quote the list I received, without assigning blame for errors. :-) 3) Tentative price is $15 + local tax (7%?) I have EMailed all who asked, to confirm that I'll help them if I can. If the additional info (once confirmed) changes any minds, I may ask you to re-confirm your interest. If I really have to go out and buy 10 CDs in one gulp, I will probably want you to swear on a copy of PoY that you'll be prompt with the money. :-) Thanks! -- | Greg Dunn | if i was twice the man i could | | GregDunn@aol.com | be... i'd still be half of what | | gregdunn@indy.net | you need. | | http://members.aol.com/gregdunn | Trent Reznor | From owner-jewel-news Mon Nov 11 08:55:21 1996 Return-Path: Received: by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA09518; Mon, 11 Nov 96 08:55:21 EST Message-Id: <9611111355.AA09518@smoe.org> Date: Sun, 10 Nov 1996 12:35:27 -0500 From: Mike Connell To: Everyday Angels Subject: Jewel News: PRINT MEDIA: USA Weekend comes thru and prints my Jewel question...even though it is a paltry answer Sender: owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk X-To-Unsubscribe: Send mail to "jewel-news-request@smoe.org" X-To-Unsubscribe: with "unsubscribe" as the body. EDAs, Well, the USA Weekend column came thru today and printed my rebuttal question referring to their error filled response to a question posed in September. For those of you that may not know, the USA Weekend is a supplement to Sunday newspapers that is quite similar to the Parade magazine many of you get in your Sunday paper. In September the following question & answer was posed: Q: Jewel, the singer-songwriter whose debut album, Pieces of You, is climbing the charts, finally is getting some attention. Tell me more about her. Is she seeing anyone? A: Once loosely linked to Sean Penn (before he married Robin Wright), Jewel, 22, has no beau at present. Born Jewel Kirchner in an Alaska town of 4,000, she knows the meaning of the word "hardship". She once lived in a broken-down van. Now even Chelsea Clinton sees her in concert (as she did in Chicago during the Democratic convention). I wrote them and pointed out the obvious mistake in her last name. I also mentioned that (as far as this list knows), she was still involved with Michel (the fortunate French-Canadian). I even told them to PLEASE cool it with the OLD, VERY OLD ridiculous crap about Sean Penn and to please concentrate on her music and PRESENT career, not two-year old stuff about Penn. The columns' author, Lorrie Lynch, & I then traded many EMAILs. She agreed that her informational sources (Atlantic Records rep & the Washington Post) provided her with erroneous info. I told her how to contact Jewel people (Hiranya), but wouldn't ya know it, at that moment Hiranya goes on vacation since Jewel & Lenedra had left the country. Not being able to confirm a d*mn thing I had told her (except the last name), she asked me to pose a question to her relating to the name, and to ask her about a new CD by Jewel. (I had told her it WAS due in January, but now is delayed until March) By the way, I also told her a bit about Jewel's interesting history & led her to some the Jewel web pages by EDAs(!!), and she agreed that it's all an interesting story, and she said she may pose it to her superiors for a possible feature article. Anyway, todays' Q&A in the USA Weekend: Q: In a recent response to a question on Jewel, the rising singer-songwriter, you got her last name wrong. Please set the record straight. Also, any news on a follow-up to her current hit album, "Pieces of You"? -Mike Connell, Binghamton, NY (via AOL) A: Jewel's last name is Kilcher, although she generally goes by first name alone. The folks at her label, Atlantic Records, say only that she's working on a new album; no official release date has been set. Hi Y'all, There have been a number of posts to the list lately expressing concerns about the status of their JewelStock Tapes. First I want to say if you have a concern, please contact me and avoid posting to the list. Looking into these things is part of my "job" as administrator of this tape tree. I have the phone numbers of all but one of the branches and I know none of them would mind me calling. Now, please remember these things: 1) The branches are VOLUNTEERING their time (and ALOT of it) to make tapes for each and every one of their leafs. Normal tape trees consist of one tape, and as you all know this one is a three tape set. At 4.5 hours a set, a branch has to pretty much dedicate an evening per set. I know, I know. Some of you are thinking that they can just start dubbing and walk out the door. True in some cases, but they still have to be back in 45 minutes or 90 minutes (depending on their deck(s)), and MANY of the branches don't have cheapo equipment....many have two single decks without auto reverse and DO have to dedicate a night if they want to pop off the set in one evening. (I know what each of them has for equipment, the majority of them have quite decent stuff) 2) Each branch was assigned 11 leafs or MORE. I asked each to try to do 2 sets a week, and for 12 sets that amounts to 6 weeks. Last night was the 7 week point from the night I FIRST ASSIGNED any leaves to branches....tack on maybe a week from that date for the first tapes to arrive to branches and last night becomes the 6 week point. In other words, I think we are pretty much right on schedule. 3) This is really none of anyones' business, but I'm mentioning this to make some of the impatient leafs out there realize something. So far I've had 4 branches (that I know of) have personal problems that kept them out of action for a while. One was in the hospital for a week, another was out of the country on a family emergency, and two were dealt blows that I shall not divulge. So please be patient. Some of you may feel you've been more than patient, but please remember that for EVERY branch, a few leafs had to be near the end of the list of tapes to be dubbed. Tack on these reasons some branches have been delayed, and mid-November seems right on schedule. You WILL get your tapes. If you have any questions, comments, or feedback please don't hesitate to contact me. Please remember that everyone involved is VOLUNTEERING both their time and stereo equipment, so please be patient and kind!!! Please address all administrative concerns to me privately. If you were not able to reserve a space as a leaf, feel free to post publicly and kindly ask a leaf to dub the tape for you. Also, i am considering having a 3 to 6 "semi-permanent" volunteers distribute the tape after the tree officially ends. This would entail dubbing for anyone who asks for the tapes (especially newbies) for a commitment of at least 2 to 3 months ("semi-permanent"). For any Jewel fans who have yet to check it out, you have no idea what youre missing. It's a must see! The amount of work & attention to detail on keeping it updated is mind blowing! I know I've kept him busy on the Jewel Performance Chronology & thats only a small facet of the info available there. After a few months of collaboration, the chronology is finally TOTALLY updated with all the info currently available on approximately 450 Jewel concerts(past & upcoming), releases, TV performances, recording sessions & other miscellaneous important dates in her career. Stop by & take a look if this kind of minutia is of interest. Go to: http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/xenomorph/jchrono.htm Thanks once again to all the people who have contacted me with additions, corrections & suggestions. It's input from all of you that is turning this thing into an amazing source for correct information for others. And a HUGE thanks to Adam for allowing the chronology to be a part of his site. The Acoustic Xmas is 2 nights, but this year they decided to do all female artists & related bands on the 1st night & all the males on the 2nd. In past years many performers did both nights. If you have an EMAIL system (such as AOL) that requires something in the 'subject', put anything that pleases your lil' ol' heart. It will have no effect on your result. Within minutes of sending your EMAIL you should receive a message(s) from majordomo@smoe.org telling you of your success and if you subscribed you will also get a "welcome" message. Talk to you all later, -Joe From owner-jewel-news Tue Nov 26 16:20:38 1996 Return-Path: Received: by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA15672; Tue, 26 Nov 96 16:20:38 EST Received: from emout16.mail.aol.com (emout16.mx.aol.com) by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA15353; Tue, 26 Nov 96 15:59:31 EST Received: by emout16.mail.aol.com (8.6.12/8.6.12) id PAA04837; Tue, 26 Nov 1996 15:58:46 -0500 Date: Tue, 26 Nov 1996 15:58:46 -0500 From: ABershaw@aol.com Message-Id: <961126155846_1117884760@emout16.mail.aol.com> To: jewel-news@smoe.org, xenomorph@sprynet.com Cc: jewel@smoe.org, Harrisbros@aol.com, Wiggy2@aol.com Subject: Jewel News: TOUR INFO: MrBB with DECEMBER 7th JEWEL In CT Sender: owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk X-To-Unsubscribe: Send mail to "jewel-news-request@smoe.org" X-To-Unsubscribe: with "unsubscribe" as the body. Hi all, I just heard that the December 7th date previously mentioned as being in Hartford is actually going to be a FREE performance to benefit "The Joy Of Sharing" & will happen Saturday, December 7th at the Meriden Square Mall in Meriden, CT sometime between 10 in the morning & 2 in the afternoon. It's only minutes from us so hope to see some of you there. Sounds like a strange setup but its FREE. :-) Alan (MrBB) From owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Thu Nov 28 21:50:13 1996 Return-Path: Received: by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA06538; Thu, 28 Nov 96 21:50:13 EST Received: from nohar.rcinet.com by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA06533; Thu, 28 Nov 96 21:50:09 EST Received: (from smap@localhost) by nohar.rcinet.com (8.8.3/8.6.12) id VAA12643 for ; Thu, 28 Nov 1996 21:49:23 -0500 (EST) Received: from dmapub.dma.org(199.18.212.16) by nohar.rcinet.com via smap (V1.3) id sma012641; Thu Nov 28 21:49:06 1996 Received: by dmapub.dma.org (Smail3.1.28.1 #5) id m0vTJ0i-0002AlC; Thu, 28 Nov 96 21:49 EST Date: Thu, 28 Nov 1996 21:49:04 -0500 (EST) From: the emperor of smurfs To: Innocence Maintained Subject: Jewel News: BOUNCE jewel-news@smoe.org: Approval required (fwd) Message-Id: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk X-To-Unsubscribe: Send mail to "jewel-news-request@smoe.org" X-To-Unsubscribe: with "unsubscribe" as the body. In general, you should not notice any difference. If you experience problems, please let me know. There is one major change, however. Lately, 'hackers' have taken to subscribing individuals to thousands of mailing lists all at once, meaning that the poor victim ends up with an exploding mailbox. This new version of majordomo prevents this abuse by forcing subscribers to 'confirm' their subscription request before it becomes effective. This means that when you send in a subscription request, you will receive a response back from majordomo that looks like this: To: you@your.site.com From: Majordomo@smoe.org Subject: Confirmation for subscribe LISTNAME Reply-To: Majordomo@smoe.org -- Someone (possibly you) has requested that your email address be added to or deleted from the mailing list "LISTNAME@smoe.org". If you really want this action to be taken, please send the following commands (exactly as shown) back to "Majordomo@smoe.org": auth 123djfj383 subscribe LISTNAME Your Name If you do not want to this action taken, just ignore this message and no action will be taken. If you have any questions about the policy of the list owner, please contact "LISTNAME-approval@smoe.org". So, you will have to follow the directions in the mail to get subscribed. Note that the secret code (123djfj383 above) will be different for each person, and for each request you make. If you are maintaining a web page that has subscription information on it for this list, I would appreciate it if you would add a note about the need for confirmations to it. -Jeff From owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Sat Nov 30 17:51:08 1996 Return-Path: Received: by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA19824; Sat, 30 Nov 96 17:51:08 EST Received: from nohar.rcinet.com by smoe.org (4.1/SMI-4.1-hack1) id AA19814; Sat, 30 Nov 96 17:51:03 EST Received: (from smap@localhost) by nohar.rcinet.com (8.8.3/8.6.12) id RAA14561 for ; Sat, 30 Nov 1996 17:50:15 -0500 (EST) Received: from dmapub.dma.org(199.18.212.16) by nohar.rcinet.com via smap (V1.3) id sma014555; Sat Nov 30 17:50:00 1996 Received: by dmapub.dma.org (Smail3.1.28.1 #5) id m0vTyEQ-0002B1C; Sat, 30 Nov 96 17:49 EST Date: Sat, 30 Nov 1996 17:49:57 -0500 (EST) From: the emperor of smurfs To: Innocence Maintained Subject: Jewel News: BOUNCE jewel-news@smoe.org: Approval required: (fwd) Message-Id: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk X-To-Unsubscribe: Send mail to "jewel-news-request@smoe.org" X-To-Unsubscribe: with "unsubscribe" as the body. They asked me to forward them to all of you. Here they are. Enjoy! Love, Alan (MrBB) Hello to all you wonderous ones, from Lenedra. Hiranya will not be around at all throughout the holiday so I am having Alan B forward this to you. I loved all the kind wishes to me in the Thanksgiving booklet. It was such a great idea and really lifted Jewel's spirits. Thank you for including me in your thoughts. Happy holidays to all. I hope no one is sad and lonely. It's wonderful knowing that people on this list do what they can to see that doesn't happen to their friends here. Warmly, Lenedra and here's Jewel's note to you: Dear Angels, A lot has been on my mind lately---I've been quite pre-occupied with my new album and, Lord forbid, I've been watching MTV! Which is never good for me. I start thinking 'How did I ever sell even one album?!'. When I see all those ultra-cool hipsters, or the super slick all-hype fast-talkers I look at myself and think, 'My next album doesn't even stand a chance. I'm too dorky, simple, retarded, etc. etc.'. So I was walking around with quite a too-serious look on my face when I saw this JewelStock Thanksgiving folder in my file on Lenedra's desk. It was so reasurring and timely to read that sincerity really counts and emotion touches people. I can do that!--so what a great reminder! Thankx to all of you for loving what I love to do! You help make my dream possible and keep my spirits high with all your lovely notes and gifts. I hope I return the kindness in my work.
