You all know the name -- or should, at least -- even if you've never been there. I was fortunate enough to make it out to SD at the end of 2003 & got to see the Rugburns play there in their "warmup" show before the infamous NYE gig. In the days of Jewel, it was a coffeehouse, but the most recent version is a pub. So...for anyone in the San Diego area who might not have heard already, there's going to be one last shindig tomorrow night. Happy Birthday jewel@smoe.org! Believe it or not, the EDA/Jewel list is ten years old today. Late in the evening of Sunday, February 19th 1995 (at 11:42pm ET to be exact), after one of Jewel's residency shows at the Kendall Cafe in Boston, smoe.org co-owner Jeff Wasilko started the Jewel mailing list...the first list at smoe.org. And the rest, as they say, is history... Just thought the members of this list would like to know. Especially those that were here in that late winter of 1995. (I wasn't, I joined March 1996) Feeling a lot older suddenly, Mike - list owner P.S. The digest version of the list started January 1, 1996, so archives dating back to the birth of this list do not go back to February 1995, they only go back to January 1, 1996. The Jewel-news list started September 1996. To see the list archives, head to www.smoe.org/lists and scroll down to the Jewel list. You will also see the other 80+ lists now hosted here. P.P.S. To see the EDA Yearbook (still online and complete with pictures and bios of many members past and present), head to www.endor.org/jewel/eda/yearbook/ You can also still make your own entry I believe!
