You already know that Jewel appreciates your support of Clearwater, but for those unsure whether Clearwater Project donations would be an appropriate idea, in terms of Jacque's memory, it's relevant to read this message from Jewel's brother Shane. He wanted me to pass this along to you. Read on. ******************************* Greetings EDAs, I know Jewel will be touched to recieve a birthday gift dedicated to Jacque's memory. And I think a gift of clean water would really be a gift to both of them. In some of our brochures and in the Clearwater video message from Jewel and Lenedra, they tell a story of being in the jungle with a friend, drinking from water bottles, when the native elder they had been meeting with told them to please stop. He said most of the world really can't afford to buy bottled water, and that whenever we buy our water from a factory, all purified and bottled up, then it only makes it less likely that the real problem will be addressed. What many of you may not know is that the friend they were traveling with WAS Jacque, and the goals and visions for Clearwater are as much hers as Lenedras and Jewels. In-fact, Jacques eldest son is Clearwaters Executive Director and has really been instrumental in making this project what it is. Her other son, Brandon, occasionally travels with Clearwater as a videographer; they are both very passionate about the project. So donating to Clearwater in Jacques honor would be a perfect gift. Well once again you guys have really impressed me with your thoughtfulness. I think this really is the perfect gift idea. I have no idea what Im going to get her. The other day I was commenting to Jewel that her B-Day was getting near, asking her what she wanted, and mentioned that I was reminded of it by the EDAS. She said, Yeah arent they great? Im really lucky to have them. As far as what I want for my birthday, well I have no idea; Im kind of hard to shop for, arent I? I wouldnt even know what to buy for myself. I think you all have found the perfect gift. I, on the other hand, still have no idea what to get her. They obviously read posts from one another, but later met at some EDA Gatherings/Events/Jewel shows and nature took its course and tomorrow they become husband and wife :-) Cool or what? :-) As far as anyone knows (and I've asked around), this is the first wedding of two people who met because of smoe.org (smoe.org hosts about 100 mailing lists for musical artists) Neither Rachel nor Tom have posted in the last year or so, so most newer EDAs probably will not know them, but both were quite active on the list in years go by, and regularly attend EDA Gatherings (such as the annual July Bearsville campouts) and Living Room Concerts in the northeast, but are still lurking in the background on the list. Rachel is more active now-a-days on the Patty Griffin/Mad-Mission list here at smoe.org, so those of you who also hang at that list and are newer here will better know her from there. (she hosts the Patty Griffin Lyrics Archive page and a few other Patty related pages) If you would like to offer them congrats and the like, you can email Rachel at EveryLittleBit@aol.com (formerly Cornflkgl@aol....remember her now?) and you can email Tom at morpheusob@t-3.cc While I won't be attending the wedding, I do know a number of EDAs will be attending the Massachusetts event. Congratulations Rachel and Tom! :-) Mike :-) P.S. Speaking of annual EDA Bearsville campouts, this years will be the weekend of July 20-22, more info to come within a few weeks from Tammy Campbell (the EDA mommy :-) * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand, * or have a burning question about Jewel and/or the list, * The Jewel/EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.quackquack.net/jewel * Many basic/common Jewel and list questions can be answered there :-) * * If you can't find the answer on the page have any list related * questions, please feel free to email me at ducksoup@quackquack.net * or you can IM me on either of the AOL names below: * DuckOfPrey or WhyADuck55 and/on AOL or AOL Instant Messenger From owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Mon Apr 23 13:45:54 2001 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by smoe.org (8.8.7/8.8.7/jewelq-jane) id NAA21761 for jewel-news-outgoing; Mon, 23 Apr 2001 13:45:09 -0400 (EDT) From: Harrisbros@aol.com Received: from Harrisbros@aol.com by imo-m02.mx.aol.com (mail_out_v30.9.) id p.9f.14846e21 (9819) for ; Sun, 22 Apr 2001 23:14:54 -0400 (EDT) Message-ID: <9f.14846e21.2814f82e@aol.com> Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2001 23:14:54 EDT Subject: Jewel-News: NJC: EDA Wedding - The best dressed EDAs on the internet! I'm looking forward to seeing EDAs at next month's Cinco de Mayo Fiesta/Beach Cleanup... I hope everyone is excited about the opportunity to do some good for our environment - the beach clean-up is only about 2 weeks away :-) The Campbell Inn (and Pub?) will be open again for the weekend for wayward EDA beach bummers :-) As usual, I expect many will arrive Friday afternoon/evening and the remainder will either meet us here Saturday morn or right at the beach (remeber, the cleanup begins at the beach at 10am). For you New Yorkers who need it, there is a train station very close to our beach... After the cleanup, we'll have a mexican fiesta/potluck here at the campbell inn, so bring something with a mexican flare if you can :-) For those who don't need to take off right away on Sunday, I'm thinking maybe a run to Great Adventure :-) Please send me an RSVP ASAP if you plan to attend and let me know if you need directions to our place :-) Here are the attendees so far, please let me know if I've missed anyone (I'm sure I have...)!! Eric Montas Tom Miles (maybe) Vicki Miles (maybe) Laura Marion Bill Bartholomew Kelly Gallagher Paul Kim (maybe) Steve Messina (maybe) Abel Rosario Can't wait to see all these familiar faces, but we need to see some new ones too!!! Now, I understand there has been some buzz already about bearsville - glad to hear we have so much interest this year. I will be contacting the campground this week, so if you think you might want to attend, feel free to contact me at AnnualBearsville@aol.com so I can give them an idea about the number of attendees :-) I know it seems early to some, but you never know how quickly the catskill campgrounds will fill up and how many attendees might need to request time off ASAP :-) Again, send any inquiries to AnnualBearsville@aol.com - I'll do my best top respond in reasonable time ;-) Tammy :-) From owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Mon Apr 30 12:01:59 2001 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by smoe.org (8.8.7/8.8.7/jewelq-jane) id MAA19735 for jewel-news-outgoing; Mon, 30 Apr 2001 12:01:45 -0400 (EDT) Message-Id: <200104301601.MAA19735@smoe.org> From: "Chris Groves" To: Jewel@smoe.org Subject: Jewel-News: Rare Jewel appearance on UK TV Date: Mon, 30 Apr 2001 16:57:42 +0100 Sender: owner-jewel-news@smoe.org Precedence: bulk For the first time in more than 18 months Jewel will be featured on national terrestrial TV here in the UK. I have arrainged to have the entire Humphreys Backstage and Lounge available for a gathering/ EDA Concert all day prior to Jewels concert Sunday August 19th (All Ages) and for an After Party all night after her show on Monday August 20th.(21 & Over) Humphreys Backstage, situated on a World Cup Harbor overlooking the ourdoor ampitheater where Jewel will perform later in the evening, is San Diego's #1 Music Venue, and we have complete access to the whole place, the awesome sound/ lighting system and stage. Not to mention we now have the system in place at Humphreys to do a live webcast of the entire event! So all of the EDA's who cant make it to San Diego can watch the whole shindig on the web! I have already spoken with Jason Mraz, and he would like to perform at Sunday's gathering. If you are an EDA musician and would like to take part in these special performances, please contact me.
