That, of course, means it's almost time for another contest! Our next contest will also begin tomorrow. This time a lucky winner will receive an autographed copy of Jewel's new "Meant For You" poster. You can view the poster and enter to win by surfing to the contest page at www.jeweljk.com tomorrow. Good luck to all who enter! Chuck from JMerch just updated me on status about both the "Ride With The Devil" VHS format release and the "Lilith Fair: A Celebration of Women in Music" DVD release. The new expected date for RWTD in VHS format is now February 8th. JMerch will also be offering the Lilith Fair Collection in both VHS and DVD formats. The Lilith Fair Collection includes Jewel's performances of "Near You Always" and "Morning Song." Jewel is also featured on three additional collaborations; two songs with Indigo Girls and Sarah McLachlan, plus the grand finale of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi," that features everyone on stage. The RWTD VHS and Lilith Fair VHS and DVDs should be in stock by February 7th. Pricing has not yet been determined, but we'll update you again next week. We've had a lot of positive response about our recent "behind-the-scenes" photo coverage of Jewel's USO Tour last month. So by popular demand, we'll continue to feature more exclusive images from that tour over the next few weeks. Visit our photo page to enjoy the new images featured this week. More to come next Tuesday! 2001 is here and as many reflect back on history and speculate about the future, we'd enjoy turning you on to musician Cindy Lee Berryhill, who has been reflecting both the past and future, in her music and writing, all along. Utilizing elements of folk, rock, punk and melodic pop, with doses of the beat culture, sci-fi and her unique sense of humor mixed in, Cindy Lee Berryhill continues to astound fans, critics and musicians alike. From her initial contributions to the anti-folk scene in NYC during the late 80s and her musical development of the legendary Garage Orchestra in the 90s, to her melodically infectious compositions of late, she continues to create songs that are unconventional and inspired as any musician working today. As some of you might know, Cindy Lee Berryhill was a pioneer on the legendary Living Room Tour, a cross-country series of house concerts, coordinated and attended by many online Jewel fans. Her latest album was recorded live at one particularly enjoyable LRT gig. We invite you to sample some of these recordings and educate yourself about this highly recommended artist at our guest artist page. We'd also like to thank everyone who has taken Jewel's website "fan poll" recently. Your time and input is appreciated. We'll be changing the poll in the next day or two and we'll drop you a line when it's ready. If you'd enjoy taking the current poll or checking the results, visit the calendar page. Jewel is working up versions of "First Cut Is The Deepest" and "Tonight's The Night" specifically for this event. Demo work continues in preparation for her next album. Who will be producing has not yet been determined, but Jewel continues to write new material and has been quite experimental and adventurous on her recent song demos. Several older unreleased songs are also being considered. One surprise is a rewritten "Angel Needs A Ride," (an obscure 1994 release on a San Diego music compilation and also on the two record set vinyl version of her first album) now with completely different music and verses. At this point, "the short list" of potential songs is at approximately three dozen, so there's an abundance of material that Jewel is considering. We know many have been patiently waiting for information about various new Jewel related VHS & DVD releases. I'll sign off here and hand you over to Chuck from JMerch, who has those updates for you. MrBB *************************************** Chuck here, JMerch is pleased to announce that in addition to the DVD, the VHS format video of "Ride With The Devil" is now in stock and available for immediate shipping. Many video distributors have chosen not to offer the VHS format version, except on a special order basis, so we are happy to be able to stock this hard to locate video for you. Also, we have just received our shipment of "Lilith Fair: A Celebration of Women in Music" in both VHS and DVD formats, and will have those available online at the Jewel Store in a day or two. This new release features behind-the-scenes footage, as well as the following live performances from the 1997 Lilith Fair Tour: Building a Mystery (Sarah McLachlan) **Water is Wide (Indigo Girls/Jewel/Sarah McLachlan) Bitch (Meredith Brooks) Tried to Be True (Indigo Girls/Sheryl Crow) Sunny Came Home (Shawn Colvin) Strong Enough (Sheryl Crow) **Near You Always (Jewel) Shame on You (Indigo Girls) Ice Cream (Sarah McLachlan) **Closer to Fine (Indigo Girls/Meredith Brooks/Jewel/Sarah McLachlan) I Need (Meredith Brooks) Wichita Skyline (Shawn Colvin) Angel (Sarah McLachlan) I Shall Believe (Sheryl Crow) **Morning Song (Jewel) **Big Yellow Taxi (All Artists including Jewel) Please visit us at the www.jeweljk.com store, if you'd enjoy copies of "Ride With The Devil" or the Lilith Fair Collection on VHS or DVD. This list, Mariposa, will hopefully become a place for Luna's fans to discuss her music, share ideas, and basically maybe prod her out of hiding for a couple of shows =-) With tons of help from Mike Connell, I've had the chance to move the old Luna Taylor mailing list from yahoogroups to smoe.org, which I think can only strengthen the list, and at the very least we will not have to suffer the constant changing of names... To maintain integrity, and to urge the list members to really speak their mind, Luna is not subscribed to this list, though she has approved it. To contact her, please visit her website at: http://www.geocities.com/luna_taylor/index.html or email her at wildermond@hotmail.com. If you did not receive this email from the EDA or LT mailing lists, then I received your email address from Luna, as that you at some time or another showed interest in her music... Now that is all said, this is how to subscribe to the Mariposa mailing list:To subscribe send an email to "Mariposa-request@smoe.org" with "(subscribe" in the body of the message. (That's the body, not the subject line. ) Smoe.org's automated system will then send a confirmation email, and once you reply to that, the work is done, and you're on the list. A welcome message will also be mailed to you, detailing how to post, and all that good stuff... So, please join, and feel free to post as much as you want, or just lurk around and listen in.... =-)Rowdy White
