Their 10 pm show was preceded by the great Richard Shindell at 8 pm. The rains passed just in time for Shindell's set, setting the stage for a terrific spring evening of music in the open air. The Kennedys set list: Life Is Large Didn't It Rain I Found A Road Half a Million Miles 9th Street Billy Breathe You Can't Catch Me (Pete solo) Alabama Rain (Pete solo) Rhapsody in Uke (Pete solo) Midnight Ghost Wall of Death Chains (Maura solo) Sun Burns Gold (Maura solo) Shadows with the Lonely (Maura solo) Matty Groves Eight Miles High (with Blackbird, Norwegian Wood and Purple Haze riffs) Orange Blossom Special Not Fade Away Who Do You Love Mona (I Need You Baby) Not Fade Away reprise Encore - A Day in the Life I Saw Her Standing There Twist and Shout Stand This was my 22nd Kennedys concert, having first seen them in October 1996. Incredibly, it was the first time I had seen them in an outdoor setting. The sound system was terrific and they were in great form, and the crowd really responded to the dance party vibe of the encore. Guess I need to try harder to make some of the folk festivals! A nice bonus for the weekend.my wife and I ran into Richard Shindell in the hotel breakfast lounge Saturday morning. Had a nice chat and got a couple of pix on the iPhone. Then, as we wandered downtown Madison, Maura called out to us from the Scion as they headed out of town.
