There is a lot of footage of Pete and Maura, mostly playing at Washington Square Park, but also at a sidewalk cafe and at one or two other locales in the Village in NYC. Recognizable landmarks included the Minetta Tavern, Cafe Wha, and Cafe Reggio. Judging by the sound of the music, by the length of Pete's hair, and by the round-shaped electric sitar being played by Pete, I'm guessing that this video and song were produced after the album Evolver, but maybe pre-9/11/01. Evolver came out in 2000, and was my favorite album by any artist of that year. When I saw TK touring for Evolver, Pete was playing that same round-shaped electric sitar, although there seems to be no e-sitar on the album Evolver per se. By going out on a limb with regards to this guess, I run the risk of not being able to "Get It Right." The song "Rocket Man" is available, by the way, on the Kennedys' lesser-known album by their alter egos, the Snacks, called Meet the Snacks, which was released at Falcon Ridge 2007, and has been available sporadically since then, chiefly at Snacks shows. A check of my records confirms that I have never seen TK play the song "Rocket Man" at any show by the Snacks that I've been at. The song reminds me a little of "Good Morning Groovy" from Evolver. Both songs have a happy-go-lucky psychedelic feel to them. This reminds me that the Kennedys are a little like Neil Young, having gone through different phases, and being able to play so many different styles of music! Maybe it got lost? I never saw it on the J-P, so I'm re-sending it. ========================================= Caroline Doctorow (daughter of novelist E.L. Doctorow) appeared at the Living Room Tuesday night, under the auspices of the series "On Your Radar" hosted by John Platt. Also appearing, doing solo stints of their own, were Pete and Maura Kennedy, who produced (Pete) and appeared on (Maura) Caroline's latest album: Another Country - The Songs of Mimi and Richard Farina. Maura Kennedy played all songs solo -- Make It Last Sun Burns Gold Patience New Way to Live Shadows with the Lonely Chains Pete Kennedy played all songs solo -- You Can't Catch Me Alabama The Devil's Boat Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (Bach) Nature Boy Medley: incorporating Mystery Train, Orange Blossom Special, Sirens medley, and Nature Boy reprise Caroline Doctorow played with Andrew Carillo (guitar), Gary Oleyar (fiddle), and Mick Hargreaves (bass) -- Will If You Want Me To Other Side of This Life Someday Never Comes Bold Marauder (add Pete Kennedy, electric sitar, Maura Kennedy, background vocal) Raven Girl (Andrew switched to mandolin, Pete & Maura Kennedy, background vocals) Children of Darkness ( " " " , " " " " , " " " ) Maura amazed the crowd with her energetic new songs, her singing, and her playing. Pete wowed the crowd with his sizzling fretwork on acoustic guitar. And Caroline blew the house down with a great set, inspired singing and playing, and a wonderful supporting cast of musicians. As someone who has seen a lot of Strangelings shows, "Bold Marauder" sounded to me like it had come straight out of the pirates' treasure chest of the Strangelings. Yo-ho matey!
