Wed. 9/3/08 - Pete Kennedy solo & Maura Kennedy solo, Living Room NYC. The Kennedys had just moved back to NYC from Northampton, that same day. I was determined not to let their moving 150 miles farther away from me stop me from seeing them. So I made sure I went to every one of their September Wednesday night residency shows at the Living Room. And they noticed that I had made the effort to see them, too. :-) Wed. 9/10/08 - Pete Kennedy solo & Maura Kennedy solo, Living Room, 2nd of 4. Sat. 9/13/08 - Twin Angels Folk Festival, Southington CT. This was the 3rd straight year I'd seen Christina Thompson Lively play this festival. This year Susan Werner played too. Later that same day, I was there when Chris joined the Kennedys onstage at the Sounding Board in West Hartford for a mini-Strangelings set. Wed. 9/17/08 - Pete Kennedy solo & Maura Kennedy solo, Living Room, 3rd of 4. Sun. 9/21/08 - Kennedys at Joe Davies Folk Festival, Middleboro MA. Tue. 9/23/08 - Falcon Ridge Benefit at Club Passim, featuring Tracy Grammer, Katryna Nields & Dave Chalfant duo, Chris & Meredith Thompson, Vance Gilbert, and We're About 9. Wed. 9/24/08 - Pete Kennedy solo & Maura Kennedy solo, Living Room, 4th of 4. Thu. 9/25/08 - Maggies reunion at the Sierra Grille, Northampton, featuring Philip Price (vocals, guitar), Max Germer (bass), and Stuart Wright (drums). The Maggies had broken up in 2002, but this particular lineup of the Maggies hadn't played together since 2000, when they went their separate ways. In "Bruce's 2008 Top Ten live shows," I identified this show as #1, Show of the Year. I was a huge Maggies fan back in the day, and despite the long layoff, Philip, Max, and Stuart can still rock the house! Flora Reed was an extra-special guest vocalist on several songs for this show only, doing the harmony vocals formerly done by Adrian O'Carolan. Sat. 9/27/08 - Lonesome Brothers o/f the Kennedys, Narrows Center for the Arts, Fall River. I'd never seen TK that many times in just one month! Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V9 #250 **********************************
