Requires separate post. > Bern & I, knowing the song well, were summoned by Maura Snack to lead the motions on "Namaste" at Jammin Java -- bowing right and then left with hands folded, every time "Namaste, Namaste" occurs in the refrains. I'm remembering that at the Snacks' FRFF Family Stage set this past July, Maura Snack and Pete Snack spotted Bern in the crowd and called her "Bernadette Snack." And I was "Bruce Snack" on the Snacks' debut of "I Found a Road" ! So Bern & I go back a ways with our alter-egos as members of the extended Snack family and in our roles as occasional collaborators in the Snack Family Players. :-) > >*** "Ring of Fire" w/ birthday girl Melinda -- !!! Requires separate post. > Bern & I were standing throughout most of the children's show right by a large tableful of kids and parents at a birthday party that was set up for the show, with balloons, presents, and a cake I think. And the birthday girl, Melinda, was all decked out like a real rock star, with mini-skirt and glittery tights! When the Snacks let Melinda sing the refrains on "Ring of Fire," she was right on the money, belting it out with a powerful, confident-sounding voice. Birthday girl Melinda Snack was snackin' Excellent in every way! :-) And when later in the show Melinda came dancing my way from out of the kiddie mosh pit, it was like being in the Lennon & McCartney song sung by George Harrison -- "I'm So Happy Just to Dance With You" ! :-) > >*** "Goldfinger" -- !!! Requires separate post. > During Maura's mini-set of three songs at the Tin Angel -- "Just the Rain," "Shadows With the Lonely," and "Sun Burns Gold" -- Pete went to the back of the long skinny room, because he said he had to work on one of the requests that someone had shouted out earlier. Now, Pete Kennedy is an amazing instantaneous improviser and a one-man jammin' jukebox encyclopedia of great renown. So if *Pete* had to go work on something, you knew that he had something extra-special up his sleeve! That something extra-special was the theme from "Goldfinger," as immortalized by Shirley Bassey. But as amazing as Pete was on the chords, Maura was just as amazing on the lead vocal. She knew every verse, every lyric, and did all of the right inflections on every note. And she hadn't known any more than we in the audience did what song Pete was about to play. Ace guitarist and ace lead singer! The Kennedys are snackin' Excellent and in a class all by themselves!
